Re: Madden 10 reviews
Agreed on both counts. I love how they've got JC's throwing motion and stance down, it makes it feel so much more realistic.
My big gripe with the game was the "my skill" thing I did. I hadn't played Madden since '08 came out so I was slightly rusty but I didn't do too good on the skill thing that determines your skill level. But for some reason when it came to the pass defense it rated me as a mid-All Pro. The only reason for that was because I was pretty successful at using my d-line guy to get pressure on the qb and force a bad throw. But as a result of it scoring me high in the games I've been getting lit up on pass defense despite getting pressure on the qb. I couldn't win my first two preseason games in franchise mode because it made Joe Flacco and Roethlisberger look like Tom Brady, gunslingin' the ball all over the place. I can't get picks or sacks or fumbles either, not to mention on the rare occasion I do force a fumble I'm usually too late on playing that fumble pile minigame they got so it usually gives the ball to the other team. Another thing I was looking forward to was seeing if I could edit packages in the playbook to make certain players play in certain packages. In years past lets say I wanted to make Marcus Washington play end when my nickel d package was on the field well I could do a subsitute and he would play at left end or w/e whenever I ran that package. I was looking forward to taking Orakpo and putting him as the LDE when I wasn't running the 4-3 so he would have a better shot at more sacks when he wasn't on the field as a linebacker but you can't do that apparantly. Maybe they reorganized it or something but I couldn't find it which is disappointing.
You still can. I know on PS3 it's R1 that allows you to sub by formation. Not sure what it is on XBOX but if you pay attention to the prompts under the play select screen you'll see it. All you have to do is select plays by formation instead of play types or ask Madden. The thing that kind of disappoints me is they still haven't taken care of that OLB/DE glitch thats been around since the PS2 days. Orakpo was originally slated to be rated 80 or something at DE but now that he plays LB he becomes an 85 when you move him. I mean it's great that he's a Skin but they really need to fix that. In the meantime it reminds me of the old days when I would draft David Pollack and Manny Lawson who were rated around 80 at LB and turn them into 90+ DE's. |
Re: Madden 10 reviews
I am hating JC in this game. His delivery takes so damn long and anything over 20 yds is a prayer as far as accuracy is concerned. (all pro)

I know tell me about it. I'm having a much easier time playing with Colt and Collins. I think the key to being successful to this game is finding a guy with a quick release. |
Re: Madden 10 reviews
I have been good with JC maybe I am just lucky
|
Re: Madden 10 reviews
You do have to adjust to his longer delivery but basically you just have to time your throw earlier. I really haven't had a big problem either.

Re: Madden 10 reviews
Anyone wanna get an online franchise going for the 360? If we can get 5-6 people that are really serious about playing, I'll start one up.
I'm just not getting any holes to run through. I regularly get hit at the line before I even get going.
You try hitting left trigger and then selecting the option to make your oline more "aggressive?" |
Re: Madden 10 reviews
I'd be game for online franchise I took last year off madden so I kinda suck but I'm in BKSkins is the Tag I had alot of you guys as friend but trimmed em off when wasn't playing so I think I need to re add let me know

Matty, I'd be down for it...I'm Damager78 on Xbox live. One think that I like on Madden '10 is the custom difficulty level. I usually play All-Pro but it's taking me a bit to learn this game (is def different than '09). However, playing Pro is wayyyy too easy. So right now I have it somewhere between Pro and All-Pro (the defense is All-Pro though, I've lowered the settings for the offense). So far is working out nicely, I've had some nail-biters against the Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants. The Redskins defense is disgustingly good, Haynesworth is a force in the middle, and having Orakpo line up at DE in Dime and Quarter formations is great (next to AH). Drew Brees is f'ing unstoppable, he torched me for like 400 yds. Once I play a dream season (I usually simulate non-NFC games), I'll up the difficulty level. |
Re: Madden 10 reviews
i got madden 10 for the Wii and theres a reason im the 1 or 3 people who bought it. EA and all sim sports games suck on Wii. MLB09 major glitches to the point you cant play it.
with madden 10 on wii there is no freakin franchise mode. they instead have a "road to the superbowl" mode where you can play 1 season with no trades or anything like that. the game play is pretty sweet with the point n click pass option but the foundation of madden is in the franchise mode. ive read a review were EA just used their NFLtour game and called it madden 10. to get franchise mode you have to install/put in codes which EA did so all the idiots like me who have Wii have to register with EA. the codes werent included in the game packet b/c EA said there was a printing error. right, an error which just so happens to benefit your company by requiring people to register their information with your company's website. also the franchise mode after you install it (what ive heard havent played it yet) is the EXACT same as last year, exact graphics, interplay, everything. so after having to get the codes from EA you get the exact same game as last year except the rosters are updated. the sim sport game manufs hate Wii, i think it has to do with the wholly different coding from PS and xbox and its just too much money, effort and not enough potential return on investment to do it right so they short cut and repackage old coding like they did here. the code to unlock everything (franchise, superstar, etc) is: THEWORKS go skins!! |
Re: Madden 10 reviews
I've actually been running the ball pretty effectively the last 5 gms online or so i have had about 125 yards as a team
|
Re: Madden 10 reviews
still waiting to play it lol had it since release date just working OT to much

Time to get a Xbox or PS3. |
Re: Madden 10 reviews
Maybe it's just me, but I miss the good ol' days of being able to beat a team 1232190-0. The more realistic the game gets as far as the "human element" (not graphics) are concerned, the less appealing the game is to me.
I feel like the learning curve is step and to be frank, I don't like to lose. I don't even like the computer to score a point on me. :( |

Agreed. To me Wii was fun for about a day then I got tired of it. I think it's really gone a long way in making Nintendo relevant again but I feel like in about 10 years or so we're going to be looking back and saying "OMG remember the Wii, yeah WTF were we thinking?". |
Re: Madden 10 reviews
Matty,
I'm down for a league. SGTHAGA0002 on Xbox. I haven't done one of these before, how's it work if more than one person picks/wants the same team? |
Re: Madden 10 reviews
I don't know what changed, but all of a sudden I'm breaking long runs with Portis. (The pitch to the weak side has been pretty damn close to a "money play.") In other news that doesn't bode well for the game's authenticity, I ran back a punt 92 yds for a TD with Randle El. All of this is on "All Pro."
|
Re: Madden 10 reviews
I am at a friend's house, and he has Madden 10, we were flipping thru the Hall of Fame, and Darrell Green and Art Monk were not listed. They had the other inductees from last year but neither Redskin. Did anyone else notice this, or we looking in the wrong place?

I noticed that as well and they don't have John Riggins in there either. |

last year the comp was good for a run back every game to the point i had to adjust my kicker power to 100. this year hall or moss get me a ST td every other game. this is all on all-pro. over compensation i suppose. finally played some wii franchise madden 10 football and its pretty sweet. i dont have all the features like you guys (knowing player potential, scouting potential rookies during season) but the wii game play makes up for it. now when i motion to throw it really does do a lob or bullet depending on how fast i motion. the running jukes im still trying to figure out and finally intercepted my first ball last night (which is still hard as hell). currently 6-2 on the season in all-pro which sucks b/c now i gotta play the slidder game and see if i can find a good competitive balance. has anyone had trouble using AH and not being as disruptive as you like? i have auto-sub off but the comp still subs fat albert out when hes too too tired and if you play him when hes real tired he gets injured. heck, it can be the 1st quarter and you can see AH with his hands on his knees in the D huddle. go Skins!! |
Re: Madden 10 reviews
Last night ARE got a sack for me. I wanted to upgrade kicker but needed cap space to do so I dropped Suisham and Tyron and replaced them with Gramatica but never got a another CB. So I guess when I was in dime defense at the end of the game the computer subed in ARE for some CB that was tired. I called a CB blitz and ARE knocked out Brees, really weird!
|
Re: Madden 10 reviews
I've noticed weird subs like that too once in a while. Regardless of your depth chart the computer makes odd moves like that from time to time. I don't get it either.

I did too. I picked up this guy. Man, he is light years ahead of Suisham, he has a solid leg. I tell you there is nothing more comforting than knowing that you can connect on 50+ yard field goals. Connor Barth |

I was playing the Giants last night (as the Skins) and the computer subbed in Manningham as a CB. lol I'm assuming it has to do with fatigue issues? |

I cut his ass during the 2009 offseason. I picked up Jay Feely instead. BTW. I'm ready for a Madden roster update now that Fincher and Hagans is gone. Time to add Glenn and Mitchell please. |

One of my gripes about this game is the players tire way too easily. Any drive over 5-6 plays and your guys are all gassed. |

do you ever use the game slider to reduce the fatigue? I think it starts at 50 percent. You can reduce it significantly even during the game |
Re: Madden 10 reviews
My only gripe about the game is I play it too much and my girl gets all pissed off at me and calls me a loser.
I like how they have the custom level of difficulty, I can play all madden level with a little bit easier on the passing against the computer. Did the fantasy draft for my franchise and have Fat Albert and Pat Williams on d line with Merriman, Lamar Woodley and D'qwell Jackson at lb, no one is runnning on me for shit |

The biggest noticeable difference was Vick on the Eagles. I already had a franchise underway so it didn't change my rosters in it. |
Re: Madden 10 reviews
They made Cushing faster that Orakpo in the game, I couldnt believe that

The skins are so much better then this game makes them look. It's just like last years.

yeah I'm always tweaking the sliders... you almost have to. The default settings are just so bad. |

agreed

I've only had that pop up a few times but I agree it's pretty useless |

thatd be sick if you did a tournament with guys who post on here and we all throw in cash or something. I would be down to handle the organization of it if you want
