Re: Betts to be the 3rd Down Back?
Let me see if I got this right. .....
There is a store with 3 cashiers and one register. The #1 cashier is awsome, she rings everything up right, bags everything, no complaints from the customers. Screws up only once in a blue moon. Then you have cashier #2 who is not as fast as cashier #1 but she gets the job done. She may ring something up wrong once a day but she is good, polite, and works hard. Then you have cashier #3 who can't seem to work the register right. Constantly comes up $40 short or $40 over at the end of the day. When bagging food tends to break stuff. but, she can work the Virginia Lottery Machine like no other cashier. I should get off her back cause she atleast does one thing right. |

Re: Betts to be the 3rd Down Back?
Wow, where have you been?
Ive been right here, appreciating an outstanding effort, this guy has proved everyone wrong. Rock is the real deal.....your clearly just a hater.
You do realize Betts did the KR/PR duties prior to Rock which means technicaly Rock is expendable.
Nope Betts isnt tackling anyone either, no wait he had his first/only tackle last season. Betts didnt do punts, his kickoffs werent good either('07 avg was 21.6/Rock '08 avg was 25.6). You need someone on your team who isnt afraid to tackle, and doesnt get hurt in doing so. You just cant have all "finesse" players on your team that cant or wont play special teams. And special teams includes the guys covering kickoffs/punts as well FYI, so that contribution is kinda important IMO. |
Re: Betts to be the 3rd Down Back?
I think it is fine to use Betts as a 3rd down back in most situations but Portis needs to be in on goaline as well as plays such as 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1.
He is the money back. Let him earn the $. |
Re: Betts to be the 3rd Down Back?
so your solution is to put sellers in, because portis and betts fumble at the worst times?
heh
Meanwhile didn't Sellers' goal line fumble against the Bengals last year cost us the game? |
Re: Betts to be the 3rd Down Back?
i'm sick of seeing betts run left in crucial situations.

We run left a lot of the time regardless of who is running the ball. It's the stronger side of the line. |
Re: Betts to be the 3rd Down Back?
Betts shouldn't even make the squad at this point. Both Cartwright and Mason have been running better than him. What does he really bring to the table? He's not a change of pace or a short yardage guy. What good is he?

Cartwright is not even close to the RB that Betts is |

i know but last night just brought me back to those back to back runs to the left by betts against the giants. if we're gonna run for it, let portis try it, not betts. |

On those plays if Betts runs full speed he gets in for the TD. He seemed kinda of confused of where he was going to go. |

thats why i'm sick of seeing him run it. it's like he folds under the pressure or something. |

Mike Sellers also missed his block on that play |

well next time i'd like to see portis sweep to the right or a quick slant to kelly or a qb sneak, anything but betts to the left. |

He's been running better than Betts and has more to offer with his special teams play. Right now, I'd rather keep Cartwright, Mason, and Dorsey. I don't think we'd miss Betts |
Re: Betts to be the 3rd Down Back?
I sometimes wonder if people are watching the same players I'm watching.
|
Re: Betts to be the 3rd Down Back?
So would we rather just pound CP into the ground again this year?
Betts needs to play more this year, and he needs to step up and be productive, simple as that.
What we need to do is draft another RB next year and replace him! |

Thats funny, I was thinking the same thing, lol. |

Im not the biggest Betts fan either but id still rather have him over Cartwright. |

That's a very good point. It's hard to tell if Betts just doesn't have a nose for the endzone or if the offensive unit "goofs" more when he gets the call or if the oline even pushes a little less hard than when CP is on the field. Betts seem to run over CBs, safeties and smaller LBs pretty consistently...he gets destroyed by D lineman just as consistently on the other hand. |

He's very good at punishing those his size or smaller, but it's another thing to get gangtackled by 2 or 3 DBs/LBs. |
