Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Losing Polamalu makes a big difference with that D. But the Titans have a good scheme for attacking it with the TEs.
10-7 Good game! |
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
The Steelers are lucky it isn't 16-7.
Big Ben is getting into rhythm now. |
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Pitt has NO short yardage! 10-10
|
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
What is it about Heinz field that makes it so hard to kick FGs?

Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Kevin Mawae looks old.

16th year--don't think he'll last the year.
|
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Titans just couldn't pick up those blitzes...
|
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Think Titans miss AH?

They still had 4 sacks tonight |
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
LeBeau knows how to do it -- he blitzes like crazy, Titans go into prevent.
|
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Ha! Heinz ward fumbles it! Wow.
|
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
true, but do you see how he can step up? We know they have good ends, but the pocket hasn't collapsed as much

Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread

|
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Titans are just letting things happen.
|
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
looks like the Steelers have the game in their sights
|
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
again, remember our sack challenged unit sacked Roethlisberger several times last year. I think with AH, they would have had a lot more pressure.
|
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
a pretty good game to start the season. Can't wait to see our Skins take the field now
|

Puck Fittsburgh

Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Steelers pass protection looked like a top 5 unit, after being a bottom five unit for 15/16 of last year's regular season.
You can probably expect similar production from the Skins line, but that assumes the health of both tackles. |
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Good grief -- Roethlisberger couldn't throw an incompletion if he wanted to.
|
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Ben R. doesn't look pretty all the time. He doesn't do it the way it's always drawn up but damn he just gets the job done.

Yeah, you're right -- but they didn't want him at the price we paid... |

I'm not sure I agree. The Titans were rushing 4 linemen most of the last quarter and they just looked exhausted an completely ineffective. When they brought an effective blitz in the first three quarters they had four sacks and tons of pressure. |
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Well, Tenn got no pressure in the 4th and OT, and you saw what happened. I would say that not having AH has something to do with it. And the no-huddle gassed the D.
But the big question is Polamalu--if he's down, that's a big deal. Agreed that Big Ben finds a way to win. |

Like was said earlier, I hope JC is taking notes. I expect a lot from JC and this is his week to make a statement! |
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Steelers could not run the ball at all.
The no-huddle was a great move--really took the wind out of the Tenn D. |
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Yeah, but who wore Tennessee down if not the Pittsburgh OL?
That Ben Roethlisberger is a top 6-8 QB in the NFL. We didn't see that guy for a majority of last season and you can probably put that on the OL. |

He looked very impressive controlling the offense. |
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
I think it's clear that they miss Haynesworth.

Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
The crazy thing is, that a very likely scenario is that one of these teams is a playoff team and one is not. And if neither ends up winning a division, well, the NFL tiebreaker system says the Titans are in a two game hole.

Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
You know that Polamalu is out for the season right?
He is this year's Tom Brady. Sucks for him. He had a great one handed interception before he went down though. Looks like word is that he's just out for 3-6 weeks with a MCL sprain. Looks ugly enough to be season ending. |
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Titans D ran out of gas at the end. Hard to believe they didn't miss AH at all.
|
Re: Let the 2009 Season begin! Week 1 around the league gameday thread
Weird stat last night, Holmes put up 9-131-1, the same exact numbers he had in the SB.
