Not to nitpick, but Rihanna's not African American.
I think it's fair to assume race was a factor in this - at least as much as the fact that Beyonce is his friend, and records in a genre he presumably respects more than Nashville pop or whatever you would call Ms. Swift - but full-blown racist might be too strong to a term for a guy who has multiple songs featuring white artists.
When does factoring in race become racist and is it a different standard for whites v. blacks? If so, isn't that racist? BTW - Finally saw the video. West is an ass. Beyonce has class. |
Re: F...Kanye West
Not sure if it's a stretch D-Rave. Put the shoe on the other foot. If a white musician said Obama doesn't like white people, and then pulled last night's stunt with Rhianna, I wonder how many African Americans would be screaming racism? My guess is hundreds of thousands or more. Chances are Jackson and Sharpton would already be on the case.
For the most part I like his music (and I think his dumb ass antics seriously diminish how talented he really is), but he and Common both have lyrics saying how they don't approve of black women dating white men and vice versa. Can't remember the exact song/verse, but it's something along the lines of making them sick. I hate to bring race into anything, but I can't help it on this one. Ask yourself this, do you really in your heart believe if it was Rhianna up there getting that award that Kanye would have pulled that stunt? I really really doubt it. I only use Rhianna b/c she is a young African American music star with fame/popularity similar to that of a Taylor Swift.
You know I can't help it but I'm gonna go with Rep. Joe Wilson is racist. Don't know if he would have done that to a white president. He was one of only 7 republicans who championed the confederate flag in SC so it must be true. Stop being silly, Kanye West is a dick and has always been a dick. He has issues it's that plain and simple. Rhianna and Beyonce (married to Jay-Z) are under the Rockafella label so no he wouldn't gone after them. |

Nothing feels sincere from him, because it's not the first time he's done this. (still like his music though). Leno talks to him like he's 5 when he's asking him about whether his mom would have been disappointed in him. |
Re: F...Kanye West
I don't agree with our President on much politically, but certainly give him credit on his take of K. West and agree.

And at the same time those feelings tend to rub off on me and I don't wanna end up being small minded like that. So it's a really hard thing for me personally to juggle.

It got a lot easier in college. The school I go to is private.. No more than like 3,000 students, close knit and such so I don't hear anything there. Usually it's out in the working world (not at my current job, but at past ones) where people gave me the most flack. |

Maybe he does not understand that the " people " who he is claiming are " racist - white " , are the same people who voted for President Obama . As far as Pep. Wilson , I would guess his outburst came from passion on the subject matter < HC Reform > , doubt he sat there and thought , oh the President isn't white , i will yell liar ? Now , Wilson should not have yelled , or used liar on the floor , IMO . I would like to know what Carter thinks of the Dems. Booing Pres. Bush on the senate floor in 2005 ? Carter has praised , Chaves , Castro and Arafaht at various times . |

Re: F...Kanye West
I wonder how Jimmy Carter rationalizes his own unpopularity as white politician? Surely his disastrous Presidency serves as an historical riposte to the ridiculous claims he is now making regarding Obama.
Of course Team Obama didn't hesitate to brand Bill Clinton... BILL CLINTON... a racist, so it should shock no one when they try to hang the label on mere mortals. It's all fun and games. |

Leno talks to him like he's 5 when he's asking him about whether his mom would have been disappointed in him.
The truth is he has the maturity of a 5 year old. He constantly brags about himself, wants attention, takes things personally, and gets emotional. He isnt mature, so what can you do. It is a shame he has that big of a platform. there are a ton of other people that can do much more good in a position like that. |
Re: F...Kanye West
Truth is , I know little about K. West , or most " celebrities . What West did was not smart , and maybe has had few outbursts , I do not want to see " the whole World " start to treat him like a rapist or killer ,,,, maybe he needs to grow up and find something more to make him happy ?

Re: F...Kanye West
Furthermore he was clearly drunk, and felt the need to interject between a million people. I almost feel bad for him that he doenst understand basic social norms, etc.
This isnt an excuse for his behavior, but his situation is just sad. He went from a great rapper (College Dropout Album), to a laughing stock after the Katrina fundraiser incident, and he continues to get owned by various media. He also did something similar in the EMV(European Music Video) awards. Kanye lost an award to the group Justice(make really cool music, I think their song Genesis was used for a recent car commerical). He went on stage did the same thing, what a dick. He wasnt drunk that time either, it just terrible. I hope he gets booed for quite a bit of time, and then seeks some help to change his constant need to assert himself. |

If you actually knew anything of Kanye you would be privy to the fact that he is a first-class-all-around-dick regardless of color. He has been in the past and today is no different. You would be bettere served saying "I bet he wouldn't crash the stage with Toby Kieth receiving an award because Toby Kieth will acutally knock his ass out." Kanye's conduct isn't racist, it's jackassery at its finest just like Wilsons. Capiche? |
Re: F...Kanye West
It's impossible to shut up Kanye West. For God's sake the guy recorded a song with his jaw wired shut.
[YT]uvb-1wjAtk4[/YT] Also while we're exchanging Kanye ego stories I'll throw one in. Apparently he was scheduled to perform at this major concert in downtown with other bands like Pearl Jam in attendance. However Kanye wasn't on the stage he wanted to perform on so instead he decided not to do the show at all. My friend attributed the outburst to the fact that his mother had just died. |
Re: F...Kanye West
Beyonce is soooo fine, and that's really all I care about regarding this incident.
