Now we can dump Mason. ;)
And just to add, just because you put a OL on IR that doesn't mean you have to replace that roster spot with a OL. Bashing on Vinny for this is just dumb.
1st I wasn't bashing Vinny. I actually am happy with his last 2 drafts. O-lineman aside. 2nd I think we all know they could sign whoever they wanted. Maybe even 4 field goal kickers if they wanted. I just think we were supprised that an O-lineman was not picked up considering they started the season with 8 and obviously the team thought they needed 8, now were at 7. I guess the team is actually happy with Rinehart which is a good sign. |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
You could argue with that, although most of us fans have been upset with Redskins for not developing players with our picks.. Not signing FAs or trading for someone, they are doing this, and now we are upset with them for not signing Kendall (or someone else) or trading for someone? I believe there's a link somewhere (Washington Post?) that says our FO expected the chances of R. Thomas missing some games; Bugel obviously believes Rinehart or Montgomery will be a good candidate..
I'm pretty sure Rinehart will be the one, but this would mean we have inexperienced right side.. Which means we will run to left all the time; Zorn need to learn how to trust Heyer and Rinehart, they will make mistakes but they also will make great plays.. Including all other players, especially JC..
I heard Jason Reid say on WPL today that the Redskins were planning on Rinehart to be the starter next year so yeah, they must have some belief he can play. You know, if the young guys can play, let 'em play. I'm all for getting younger if they have the ability. |

Rinehart was deactivated last two games for a reason; he plays guard.. W. Montgomery plays center and guard.. And we had 7 O-line men activated, not 8.. Basically we still have intact O-linemen, just with a different player; in this situation, this is suppose to be good thing because we are going with a player whom we developed.. |

Rock hasn't had any carries in 2 games and has 4 KO returns for an avg. of 24 yds/return. You might be right, maybe a trade? |

Im thinking Betts before Rock, at least Rock will tackle someone on coverage teams. Does anyone think a team will give up anything for either Rock and/or Betts? |

Sure, why not. Betts has looked decent catching the ball and Rock is a proven return man (mid-round to Low picks). |

I'm with you on that. His butter fingers frighten me. This is one reason why I preferred Dorsey. |
So do fumbles. I like speed, but I have yet to see what makes people so excited about Alridge.
They see Darren Sproles lighting up the league as a midget back with crazy speed. The problem is Alridge is not well built for the NFL and Sproles is a beast. Sproles can take a beating no problem. It would be a miracle if Alridge got 100 touches in a season and didn't get killed. |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
I've got to think there is another move coming. I don't have time to go look at the 31 other depth charts around the league, but how many teams really carry 5 rbs (not including a FB)? Unless we're going to make Alridge a full time PR or KR, I don't see why we do this. No need to have a 5th RB buried on the depth chart if he's not going to be a contributor on teams.
So do fumbles. I like speed, but I have yet to see what makes people so excited about Alridge.
Well I do agree Sheriff. He does fumble and needs to work on that. I think what excites people is that it's been so long since we've had anyone with this type of speed and with the emergence of Sproles and change of pace backs in the offenses around the league, the thought is he could take it to the house on any given play. Assuming he doesn't fumble it on the way of course. :) |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
If he ever get's an opportunity to play he certainly adds something we don't currently have, speed. I'm actually glad to see he's coming back.
|
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
Guys we might be looking at a possible switch to Wr for Aldridge. Just a thought. Thomas isn't getting it done and Moss sucks. Betts or Rock might not be the ones on the hotseat or trade block!!!!!!

Congrats on the worst post of the day. |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
Not really, why would they bring a 5th back in? Moss isn't getting it done and has lost a step. Betts has a goal line fumble problem but it hasn't been a problem this season yet. Why do you need a 5th RB? The guy has killer speed, and the newbie WRs dropped some TDs. Maybe they are looking to increase WR speed. Crazier shit has been tried before. They could put him as flanker and do some end arounds once in awhile, etc. I am just brainstorming here. Sort of dumb to get rid of Betts or Rock at this point.

Was this sarcasm? I second that worst post of the day nomination as well, even if this post wasn't intentionally sarcastic. I've heard some shit but this is so far beyond the normal dose of "crazy stupidity" on this board that I actually can't tell. And I agree SGG, it's hard not to like Alridge's speed but how often he fumbles concerns me. I think this move is gonna precede another one. I just don't see why JZ would carry 5 backs on the roster. |

One could ask, "Why they would bring a 5th back in, just to turn him into a 6th wide receiver?" |

True, I am just trying to think why on earth they would bring in a 5th RB unless they were going to try some crazy shit out. I don't see why it was such a dumb proposition considering everyone is asking why bring in a 5th RB. I see no reason why the current batch of RBs on our roster need to be padded with an additional man. I mean what has hurt us in the red zone the most, our RBs or WRs? |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
So do fumbles. I like speed, but I have yet to see what makes people so excited about Alridge.
I like speed also, and we don't have a back on the roster who can take a handoff to the house. Fumbles, every skilled player on our roster has fumbled at one time or another. Cooley, two times in one game last year, Portis twice in the Ravens game, one taken to the house. Jason Campbell maybe cost us the Giants game this year. Moss fumbled on Sunday, we don't even need to talk about Betts. I'm giving the guy the benefit of the doubt, let him play and see if he fumbles in a real game, if he does he's got plenty of company. |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
Great news, now get Mason of the active roster.
|
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
Ok, now have you all seen how this works? I come one this site and put the Skins on blast for not having an outside the tackles running threat to spread out the defense. Basically I decensitized you guys ahead of time prior to the Skins picking up Alridge.
Had I not done this you guys would have been up in arms about the Skins not having a clue and not picking up another O-lineman. JK ;) |

Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
I'm not loving 10% of the roster dedicated to the RB position but I like Alridge. I can see Betts being shopped prior to the week 6 trading deadline and Rock possibly cut at some point in the season. If anyone was coming back, I was thinking Bridges.

So you really think he's gonna get even one snap as a WR? No offense, but you're in la la land if you think we have any WR aspirations for him. |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
This team needs speed not a smaller worse pass blocking version of Betts and Portis. Great move.
Seriously, I agree. I watched the Dallas/Giants game and was actually supprised at how the Giants were playing them defensively. My ony assumption is that the Giants were afraid Dallas would break out on a long run on the outside. So they spread out their D-line to try and either force the RB back toward the center where they could collapse the D-line on them or use the side line as an extra man. Dallas found the center to be the Giants weakness and utilized it. When the Giants played us they stacked the box between the tackles and essentially stopped our running plays. Now we have an outside threat and maybe the Giants will have to respect that and the middle will open up for Portis, Betts, or Mason. 3 similar RB's is over kill. I'd keep the best older RB (Portis) and the youngest (Mason) for the future. But I'm sure if anyone is cut it would be Rock cause they are using Thomas to return kicks also and he's doing just as good. |

I've never seen him fumble in a real game that cost us a game yet, until he does I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm not going to keep knocking a guy I haven't even seen play in a real game. |

He did start as a WR in college before he was converted to RB. We have 5 receivers on the roster, I don't think there's room unless someone is traded. |

Bridges signed with the Cards. |

I mean he did fumble last week. :)
Well if you call that a fumble when you are attempting to pass and the DE knocked the ball out I guess thats a fumble. |

and what are you using to jude this by? I ask cause I thought he only fumbled once, twice at the most. Can I call JC a fumbling machine? Hopefully he holds the ball with two hands. |

or Cooley who almost had two fumbles during the Giants game (one went out of bounds and the second was a non-fumble because his knee touched the ground a millisecond before the ball came out). |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
We lose a lineman so we go and get a running back? Vinny Cerrato AKA the Great and Powerful OZ has really done a number on us this time. There is no rhyme nor reason to this pick. I am glad that we have Vice President of football operations looking to make our team better in every way.
There is a reason he is still on the the street. He can't play anymore with those bad knees. If he was so hot don't you think another team would have offered him a contract. |

You could say the same about Levi Jones...as I said before, Buffalo has no offensive line and they haven't talked to him. |

I think if there was a O-Lineman out worthy to help us we would bring him in. Quality O-lineman don't just sit around 32 teams would be signing them in a heart beat. We signed Alridge because he brings speed to the RB positon. |

Even L.T. fumbled against the Raiders and he had carried the rock over 900 attempts and fumbled. So stop worrying about 2 fumbles that Alridge had. |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
Welcome back Alridge
I think this kid needs a chance to show what he can do with the rock in his hands. The Texans have a simular RB now and thats the kid from West Virgina ( Steve Slaton). I like the move so what do we do with 5 RB? Do we look for a trade partner for Betts, or do we cut Mason or Rock. I cant see us carrying 5 RB to long on the roster. Alridge can't help us unless he sees the field so lets hope Zorn will get him the ball either on special teams or the offense. |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
you sign an olineman becuase our o line is aged and injury prone. it bit us last year and it will bite us again this year if we don't do something.
please tell me we are gonna ship overpaid betts somewhere and pick up another fatty bring kendall back or something. if we don't we will wish we did |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
The team loses an offensive lineman for the year and they sign a 5th running back? I quit trying to make sense of the Redskin moves. This organization is just as dysfunctional as the Raiders. I hope for the best but I'm scratching my head again. This makes about as much sense as signing an offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator before searching for a head coach. No experienced head coach wants the job, so you offer the head coaching job to the guy you named offensive coordinator. The only problem is, this offensive coordinator has no experience running an offense or team. Scratching my head, scratching my head...
