I feel that the way the Yankees and other big-name teams that can spend spend spend and keep the revenue coming in to support that have actually driven more people away than have been brought in. I don't think it's their fault, because the Skins used to do the same thing, and we would if there wasn't a salary cap now. I think a Salary cap is needed for all sports, not a cap setup like Basketballs though.

That Guy 10-16-2004 04:35 AM

i respect your right to root for and like the yankees ;) i'm just a bit turned off since they have such a huge huge huge advantage over basically everyone but the red sox (who are sorta kinda close)...

if danny could have bought a championship, it would have been done already.. two or three times over... just not that easy though :(

redrock-skins 10-17-2004 12:59 AM

19-8 Game 3. It was the "Boston Massacre" part 2! One more win and I can breathe again.

That Guy 10-17-2004 08:23 AM

looking like the yanks are going for number 27... it is number 27 now right?

Gmanc711 10-17-2004 10:06 AM

This series has been so lathergic. I'm very dissapointed in it, I waited allyear for the Yanks vs Sox, and the Yanks are making htem their b*tches. Oh well ,My cards are just gonna roll the yanks in the series.

redrock-skins 10-17-2004 11:43 AM
Oh well ,My cards are just gonna roll the yanks in the series.
That's what I heard about the Sox before this series started.

Gmanc711 10-18-2004 09:01 PM

Has this series picked up or what??? Bottom of the 9th right now in game 5... its getting crazy

SmootSmack 10-18-2004 11:01 PM

These last two games have been unbelievable. Ortiz is awesome. And Schilling back for game 6 could swing the momentum back to Boston. I still hate the Red Sox though and I'm sure they'll find a way to lose the series

Gmanc711 10-18-2004 11:10 PM

I wouldnt be suprsied to see this go to 7, Boston take like a 6 run lead in the 8th inning or so... and still lose. I really feel bad for their fans.

But Not that bad, I'm a Redskin fan you know.

SmootSmack 10-18-2004 11:25 PM

I don't feel bad for Red Sox fans at all. I had to live with two in college, and all they ever did was bitch about "the curse"

What a finish to the Astros/Cards game as well

SUNRA 10-19-2004 12:02 AM

I hope the Yankees get their asses kicked and the Red Sox win four in a row to be the first team to ever come back from three games down. Sheffield and Matsui are the only players who I respect for their consistent play. Jeter is a bum who hasn't done anything in this series to deserve the name Mr. Clutch. I just watched Wakefield strike 3 Yankees out with knuckle balls that seemed to be moving in slow motion. Tomorrow the two-faced fans and media of NY will be turning their backs on the Yankees like they have always done when their team loses.

Gmanc711 10-19-2004 12:29 AM

What has happened to my Cardinals??? They were rolling now they are down :(!

SmootSmack 10-19-2004 12:32 AM

Overall, Jeter has had a pretty poor series but he had a clutch bases loaded triple today.

After dealing with heat all night adjusting to a knuckleball is really tough

I guess you missed Jeter's bases clearing triple that scored 3 off of Pedro. I think I and the other Yankee fans will still be there tommorow and Game 7 if needed. If the Sox do the impossible, I will tip my cap to them and take my loss like a man. Really the Yankee fans are no worse than us Skins fans to our team when we lose. Its on a smaller scale than NY, but the behavior is essentially the same to our team when we lose.

Gmanc711 10-19-2004 07:06 AM

I agree, Jeter is the one guy you dont want to attack. At least he tries to play, all the other Yankees just swing for the fences when they are down, Jeter still tries to get dirty and play small ball. He was awsome in the feild in the extra's too, but has had some bad plays in the series.

SmootSmack 10-20-2004 12:11 AM

damn red sox, they're going to give me a heart attack!

Gmanc711 10-20-2004 12:15 AM

Tommaorw is gonan be one of those days. It rarley happens for me for baseball. But my god all day I'm going to be going crazy just waiting for the game. Tommarow night is going to be somthing special, you can count on that!

redrock-skins 10-20-2004 02:22 AM

One year later and we're back to where we left off. Game 7! I was one of the few on the Yankees forums to say "don't celebrate until we get the final out of win #4". I did think the Sox were capable of coming back from 0-3. Throw all the stats out the window tommorow. Its gonna be a long day.

That Guy 10-20-2004 08:39 AM

out of all the 0-3 playoff series leads, no one has ever come back to 3-3... the best previous were three series that ended 4-2...

post had something about it... out of all 30 series that started 0-3, 25 finished 0-4, a couple 4-1 and a couple 4-2... my # of series may be off here, but its close...

Redskins_P 10-20-2004 08:45 AM

This series will go down as one of the best in the history of baseball.

skinsfanthru&thru 10-20-2004 11:29 AM

what was up with the fans booing the umps calls last night when they obviously made the right rulings? I know I still get pissed off when a ref adjusts a call that goes in favor of the team the skins r playing but I wouldn't throw balls or anything else onto the field. I mean they brought out the freakin' swat/riot squad

redrock-skins 10-20-2004 02:49 PM

While no excuse, they didn't get to see close-up replays of A-rod swattting the ball. A lot of Yankee fans were disapointed with the fans behavior last night, this one included. But if lets say Johny Damon swats a ball and it happened in Boston, some of their fans would do the same thing. There are bad apples in any stadium.

It reminds me of the 1990 Eagles-Redskins playoff game I attended in Philly. That was the "Body Bowl" year and Buddy Ryan's last game before he got fired. Early in the game Philly ran back a fumble for a TD that was reversed by replay. You could still see the big screen in the stadium replay the "fumble" and it really looked like one until I got home later and saw the highlights, which showed the ground caused the fumble. Still the crowd was irate and the a-hole chants rang for 10 minutes. That changed the game and we took over from there. At halftime I was waiting in the concession line and was tackled by an Eagles fan, who was pulled away by his friend, before it got worse.

That's kinda funny.

Last year at the Dolphins Redskins game I got in a little scuffle :boxing: with three Dolphins fans while I was getting beer. Of course I had to be by myself. :party-smi I probally would have got my ass kicked if a bunch of friendlier Dolphin fans didn't break it up.
I think Oakland and Philly would have to be the worst as far as asshole fans go. But it doesn't matter where you go your always going to run in to a few jerks!

Riggo44 10-20-2004 08:42 PM

Go Redsox!!
I'm a diehard Angels fan but I think it would be cool to see the Redsox come back after being down 3 games to the Yankees. If the Sox can pull it off I hope St.Louis or Houston can nock them off in the world series. :FIREdevil I really don't like the Yankees or the RedSox. Ther fans are freeking cowderheads and front runners! :FIREdevil

BrudLee 10-20-2004 09:12 PM

I don't give one fat crap about baseball, but HOLY SHIT! GRAND SLAM!!!!

Riggo44 10-20-2004 09:18 PM

Redsox 6 Yankees 0 !!! :headbange

SmootSmack 10-20-2004 09:31 PM

This game is killing me! C'mon Yankees let's get a rally going!

SmootSmack 10-20-2004 09:54 PM

Great, Johnny Damon had to pick tonight to show up

I just watched Mr. Clutch blow his chance to hit. Jeter didn't want to hit. He wanted to walk and Timlin just threw the right pitch and he grounded out. All of you Yankees fans can never I mean never talk about all of the defeats you have given the Red Sox because this one out tops them all.

Who's the Red Sox daddy? NOT THE YANKEES!

Daseal 10-20-2004 11:52 PM

I'm not a baseball fan, but both the Houston/St Louis and Boston/New York series have been awesome.

The Yankee fans are more like Giants fans. With their obnoxious and arrogant behavior. In all of my years, I have never seen Redskins fans throw objects at officials because of a call that they didn't like. Otherwise the referees in the Dallas game would have gotten it bad. But I respect you for taking the loss like a man.

skinsfan0201 10-20-2004 11:52 PM

Jeter is the complete MVP

Jeter is truely an MVP and Hall Of Famer! He has both the physical and mental gifts as well as being one of the truely greatest clutch players ever (if not the best)!

Derek Jeter is a freakin bum. He hasn't done a damn thing but live off of walks in this series. I'm glad Boston whipped their asses in New York in front of all of those people who bet there lives on the game.

SmootSmack 10-21-2004 12:02 AM

Jeter has a .368 career postseason batting average. And his primary job as the leadoff batter is to get on base so guys like A-Rod, Matsui, Sheffield can drive him in so walks aren't a bad thing at all for him

SmootSmack 10-21-2004 12:03 AM

Tremendous comeback in this series by the Red Sox. Here's hoping they get swept in the World Series

Redskins_P 10-21-2004 12:12 AM

This one hurt, but I have to give credit to Boston. They hung in there and never quit. There will be a lot of changes with the Yankees...I guarantee it. Obviously the reason why we lost this series was because of our bullpen. But I give the Red Sox all the credit. Their bullpen did a good job of shutting down the Yankees 1-4 batters.

They didn't nickname Jeter Mr.Clutch for getting on base from a walk. He certainly didn't get a .368 batting average on walks. What was his postseason batting average against Boston? I'm sure it's much lower than .368

Calm down hater........Yankees will ALWAYS be the red sox daddy. 26 Championships compared to what 5?

The Yankees depended too much on Jeter, Rodriguez, Matsui and Sheffield. Bernie Williams was a non factor and Boston kept them out of the game. The men who deserve the credit is Kurt Schiling and David Ortiz. They kept their foot on the Yankees' neck and never let up off of them because of history. I can say that I was on this earth when Boston beat the Yankees in the ACLS after 86 years. God is good! Whew!

I'm a hater? You need to be a congradulater. Because this victory will put all 26 Championships on the backburner. Nobody cares about the 26 Champiohships. As Janet Jackson's song says, " What Have you done for me lately?" They HAVE PLAYED 70 times, 35 wins for New York , 35 wins for Boston. Boston won the 71ST game in New York, in the 7th game. Don't worry THE BOSS will make changes.
