Also bringing in this guy for a work out Freddie Brown
OMFG! It's crap like this that drives me to think that Matt Millen was Vinny in a fat suit. Here we won't even activate our potentially best young reciever on game day, we have five running backs on the roster, few of which are getting ANY game day reps and yet we bring in a WR and a RB for workouts. God forbid though you should even give a tryout to an OL. |

My thoughts exactly. We have 5 RBs on the team and we are trying out RBs incase someone gets hurt? Come on!! We are bringing in a rookie receiver when the freaking WR coach can't coach the ones we have? What gives? I think this is quite ridiculous. Only thing I could see is them trying to send some messages to the younger guys. Other than that its rather ridiculous. |
Re: Chris Henry to work out today
Well the only legitimate back that we have on the roster is CP. Betts is on the decline so good luck trying to get a draft pick for him in a trade. Rock can give us a few plays at RB but he is no game breaker. Mason runs hard but he has limited game experience and does not have home run ability. Alridge has not even touched the field so what do we truly have as a quaility back up to CP. No harm in bring in a young former high pick RB to see if he can up grade a position that we don't have much depth at. He does have good speed and size. How fast can he pick up our WC offense and impact our offense is the question.

You hit the nail on the head. CP is the only decent back they have and he's dinged up and a plodder rather than a game changer. The Skins do have a few RBs but no depth so maybe this guy with big time speed can be the explosive threat the team needs if he works out. |
Re: Chris Henry to work out today
Betts quit last year. I would rather see Rock be second instead of Mason not like he much faster. but then again it seems like Rock may have quit too.

Re: Chris Henry to work out today
I like the move. Either:
(a) it is irrelevant ultimately, or (b) maybe serve as a warning shot for all of our backs, including CP, to step it up. None of our backs have been balling. |
Re: Chris Henry to work out today
Redskins worked out Chris Henry today and do not plan on signing him.

Re: Chris Henry to work out today
One of the guys on ESPN 980 just asked JZ about Chris Henry. Basically he double talked it. Said they were NOT making any changes....that's not what I want to hear....but...probably BS anyway
He also said they were working to sign CH, as he worked out today |

I thought JZ said they WERE looking at signing him? CORRECTION: Not signing |

No. Henry is not being signed. |
Re: Chris Henry to work out today
Why work out someone if you have no intentions of signing them?

Maybe they were unimpressed. League sources have also said Houston is interested. Maybe he did not want minimum. Who knows, it's the Redskins. |

Well...if he was all that, he would probably already have a paying gig? |

I assume. I am still a bit fuzzy on this whole situation. I understand that Clinton Portis has bone spurs in both ankles and will need a lighter load throughout the season. I get that. But just a few years ago Betts ran for 1000 yards. Mason has looked impressive in two preseasons. Neither of these guys can get going with just two carriers per game. Then signing Anthony Aldridge last week. It is really baffling they even tried him out. |

Ah...just being a Vinny OR maybe even a lil Danny, but thats kinda one in the same..? Who the hell knows what these guys are thinking, not very clearly thats pretty certain! I really hope they at least case thought he might have been better than our #3,#4,#5.........backs and would have bumped somebody out of a job. But who the F knows. |

I dont think Henry coming in was Vinny or Danny. That sounds like Sherman Smith and Jim Zorn. Nothing wrong with giving a workout. If ti was Danny or Vinny, don't you think he would have walked out with a deal? |

In all honesty, I find much of what I see from the Skins.....deeply disturbing (although not completely). I have to assume that there is much more that I DO NOT see than what I do see, thereby tainting my opinion. To do otherwise would invite the opinion that the organization, and it's mgmt, coaches etc are incompetent....and I REALLY do not want to believe that |
Re: Chris Henry to work out today
As I mentioned earlier (I think in another thread), this is what teams do. It's not at all uncommon for teams to work out veterans during the week and just get a sense of what's out there in the event they want or need to make an in-season roster change. This is nothing unusual.
What is unusal actually is that it's reported. More often than not, nothing is ever even reported |

Taken all that in to account, I don't think it is surprising. |
