The Giants didn't come close to that (granted, it was week 1, but still they're a lot better than the Panthers on offense). I think it will be a frustratingly low scoring game (sound familiar?) but we'll squeek it out 17-13. To me, it's all about how our O-line performs. If they can give Campbell some time and carve a few more holes for our RBs, we have a decent shot to win. If not, our D will play well but we may come up short. |

Re: What do you expect in our Week 5, Skins vs. Panthers matchup
Carolina has two things going for them; one they're coming off a Bye, two they're at home. Other than that, coming into this game they're in worse shape than we are.
Delhomme isn't mobile and will make mistakes. Their run game hasn't picked up any steam (20th in Yds/Gm), their passing game isn't anything to be worried about (23rd in Yds/Gm). As long as Blache continues with a similar gameplan as last week (and he can be more aggressive cause Jake can't run) I don't believe Carolina will be able to score more than 13 points....unless our O puts them in position to score. Carolina's D isn't as bad as their stats indicate. They are 29th in Points/Gm, but the 38 Philly dropped on them was more a turnover issue than a D issue. That being said there is no excuse for being last in the NFL in Rush D (Yds/Gm) at 182. This IMO will be the difference in the game. The Skins will look to establish the run again and will have success. The D will be able to hold the Panthers O in check, specials will be a wash, and we win ugly. Skins 16 Panthers 10. |

Good point -- Delhomme's numbers this season are abysmal. And if they fall behind, given what's happened already this season, they may panic. I don't think we will -- last week demonstrates that. |
Re: What do you expect in our Week 5, Skins vs. Panthers matchup
I'm not throwing in the towel yet. The Skins are one impressive win away from getting the Grim Reapers off Zorn and Campbell back. I have to be a fan and believe that they can turn this thing around. It's going to take an early lead, mistake free game and an inspired effort on defense. Haven't seen it yet, but you gotta believe.

Just putting the facts out there Redskins finally break the 20 point mark, thanks to a Devin Thomas kick off return to start the second half. Skins 21, Panthers 10
Are you being serious? Or are you joking? I think they've only played once since he's been the starter. lol. |
Re: What do you expect in our Week 5, Skins vs. Panthers matchup
Panthers 27
Redskins 14 I don't see us winning at Carolina to a team that's coming off of their bye and has one major problem on offense which is turnovers. Their biggest issue defensively is stopping the run, which we haven't done effectively this year. The prospect of Heyer one on one vs. Peppers is damn scary. |

They've played Philly, Atlanta and Dallas. They were competitive in their last two games. Our wins were by a combined total of five points to teams who are destined for top 3 picks in next year's draft. They're playing at home, they can run the ball while we've had problems stopping it, and we don't score much. Is celts that far off? |
Re: What do you expect in our Week 5, Skins vs. Panthers matchup
Carolina wins fairly easily. I dont see us being able to compete. Our best chance of winning is Delhomme being Delhomme.

Yup. I totally agree. They play at home and they've had a bye week to regroup and rest. I still can't believe the denial of the folks on here who think we're going to score over 30. In fact, we've only broken the 30 point mark ONCE in the last 21 games. Ugh. The Panthers may be winless, but their personnel is far better than the Bucs, Rams, and Lions IMO. The only thing working in our favor is Jake Delhomme. He's been awful. In fact, I put the over/under at 2 for Carlos Rogers' dropped INTs this Sunday. I hate to say it, but Panthers 24-Redskins 14, and the turmoil in Ashburn gets yet another game closer to boiling over. D'Angelo Williams will have a big game and help the Panthers overcome a pair of turnovers by Delhomme. |

Is celts that far off?
They got smoked by Philly, managed to keep it close with ATL yes, but against Dallas they unraveled in the 2nd half and it really wasn't as close as the score indicated. They are horrible on offense, 29th in points, 25th in total yards, 23rd passing yards, 20th rush yards, and their defense has been hit hard with injuries and ranks 30th in points, 23rd in total yards, 6th against the pass, 32nd against the rush. So yeah I think Celts is a little off, but that's just my opinion. Could they win? Sure. I just don't see it being by a wide margin. |
I think these next two weeks of football will tell the tale of how are season is going to unfold. We NEED to capitalize on both Carolina, then KC. If we can get two wins the next two weeks well who knows.
I do think both these games are MUST WIN games for the SKINS to have any chance to a positive outcome of this season. I would be pleasantly surprised to see us start in Carolina, picking up where we left off in the 3rd quarter of the Bucs game. Being that was for the most part the only quarter we played, and yes the D did play the 4th also. We have to play 60 minutes of football to win this game against a starving Carolina team that is ready to pop a teams bubble, not that we have much of one to pop.....but if we do play with the same effort in the game as we played in the 3rd quarter of last week and just add 45 more minutes of solid play I like our chances. If we do the usual, we will get chewed up. Thoughts on this weeks game?
Ha, sometimes I get a brain fart also and have trouble remembering how to spell the smallest of words. :) It would have been funnier had you simply used "R" instead. :) Totally not making fun of you just basking knowing someone else has the same problems. |

Re: What do you expect in our Week 5, Skins vs. Panthers matchup
Carolina is as much or more so a mess as we are. Kinda like our last opponent.
If I have to make a prediction, I say panthers 20-17. One thing I feel is in our favor; it might be good for the team to play this week on the road. FEdex is a tough place for the home team to play these days, and I think going to a losing team's stadium is favorable; losing teams are more likely to get an upset on the road because the home team gets complacent. Charlotte isn't that far, there will be plenty of skins fans, but it won't have the negative energy that fedex has now. |

Yeah the line i got was 3 1/2. If I could bet against us I'd do it. But I can't do it. Skins have not covered all year. This game has trap written all over it. I'd say Carolina wins and covers but I hope like hell I'm wrong. |
Re: What do you expect in our Week 5, Skins vs. Panthers matchup
Alright, its my turn:
During halftime there were no speeches, but the coaches were helping out their players. According to CC, he gathered Moss,JC, and Portis to just say lets make some plays. Well it worked! This week vs. the panthers the skins will need to do the following: 1. Run Defense- The Panther are capable to kick our tails on the ground (Preseason 08), but if the D can build what they did to the bucs' RBs, we will be straight in this category. 2. Pass Defense- I hope Blache can keep up with the blitzing from last game. JD is the opposite of Josh Johnson. What i mean is he is not a mobile QB. So if they can stop the run, than JD will be forced to make plays by his arm. This can go two ways: DHall can shutdown SSmith(*fingercross*), than im sure that with the blitz we can produce turnovers. Or we could get eaten up in the secondary like MStafford did(somehow). I hope that CRogers catches 2INTs(i know, i know). 3. Run Offense- To be honest, against the Panthers 32nd ranked rush D... Portis+Mason= The first OFFENSIVE(Not STeams) rush TD! 4. Pass Offense- JC needs more than just Cooley and Moss. He needs some targets, or else itll be another defensive game.(the boring ones) 5. FGs- hopefully they are all offensive nonblocked extra points! Punts- I dont if Hunt the Punt. will be healthy enough, but if " that other guy" has to play i hope he puts us in a good defensive position. I hope we keep punts to a minimum. 6. The First Drive/ 3rd Quarter/Second Half- These are all pivotal moments that will need to be executed pefectly in order to take this game. First Drive- Momentum is the ____ to the ____( * add quote there*) 3rd Quarter- For the second straight game we have benn clicking in this quarter. Its also the panthers worst quarter stat-wise. Second Half- If the redskins are winning (hopefully by a touchdown or two) we would have to close the game. Simple! 7. Jim Zorn/ Sherman Lewis- Im intersted to see if he really can help this potential-filled-struggling-offense. 8. Faith, Motivation and Support- Us Fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: What do you expect in our Week 5, Skins vs. Panthers matchup
Carolina isn't anywhere near as bad as the Bucs and we play them in Carolina. Redskins lose this one and it wont even be close.

Haha....good one. There happens to be a lot of B-days between our, are, and R...shit happens on the small words, I guess.....lol Heres to hoping the SKINS can play 60 SOLID minutes of football Sunday afternoon in all three phases of the game, if so I like our chances. To WIN by ONE. |
