Yea that's what I heard.. Thats good for him, I hope he is as good as his Late father was..
I've seen McNair Jr. play for Oak Grove and he is a beast. He has a ton of athletic talent and, for obvious reasons, he's well trained for someone his age. |

Hey I agree 100% but we have to address this QB situation soon, so y not start this draft?
Okie I am with you. We have no choice, absolutely no choice but to draft a QB. My worry is Danny will go for the sexy pick and the guy is another dud ala Schuler. Bradford is a standup kid, and a real talent for sure, but Oklahoma is a superpower totally loaded on all fronts with talent. Playing in a conference not known for defensive play also helps his stats. With that situation Stoops could plug in any blue chip HS QB from TX and the Sooners would be in the BCS hunt every year with that setup. The guys that seem to make it are the guys from smaller, lesser known places that are the ones that make their team special. Big Ben is the best example at Miami, OH. Pike and Lefevour are like that. If Central Mich doesn't have Lefevour, they would vie with my Alma Mater(Eastern Mich) as the crappiest team in the MAC. |
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
Actually Bradford helped OU beat Miami 2 yrs ago, and he didn't even play in the Miami game this season.
I know that is why they lost this season. I am just saying they don't get too much real competition outside those 4 teams unless they play like Miami. OU usually plays Chattanoga St or someone like that for non conference games. |

Hey I agree 100% but we have to address this QB situation soon, so y not start this draft?
I say we address OL in the 1st or 2nd this coming draft, after a possible trade down to acquire more picks, then take more OL later in the draft. Then later, in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th round, maybe a QB. SB winning QBs do not all come in the 1st round. Warner and Brady snap immediately to mind. The more picks, the better, as long as we don't stick with the WR/TE/WR theme! All of this after we get rid of look-inna-my-eyz vinnie! |
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
How can u say he won't be a good pro lol?? It's insane how ppl just say random shit about a player they don't even know or watch.. Sam Bradford is respected by all the pro scouts even though that doesn't guarantee he will be a star, it shows everyone that he is worth taking. You were probably the one that said sanchez would be a bum also
Seriously. We're all a bunch of know-nothing dumbasses. Otherwise, we'd be making a mint running some NFL team. There are going to be a few QBs drafted in the first round next year that go on to become great NFL QBs, maybe even Hall of Famers. And this just in... injuries heal, especially with dudes in their early 20s. I'd hate to go another 15 years with a cavalcade of shitty QBs only to look back at the 2010 draft saying, "We should have drafted THAT guy." The Skins can get a QB AND fix the O line in the early rounds and grab a RB in the middle to late rounds or via free agency. Presto chango, they can turn this debacle around in 2-3 years. Happens all the time. |
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
I'm happy with Bradford, because his strength is his accuracy. He knows how to get the ball to his receivers. You know how many times Jason under throws or over throws receivers or just flat out misses wide open receivers? A lot. And by the way, for all the people who think that Bradford will be worse than stafford, Bradford last year had a much higher grading and rating than stafford, it's no question that he would have been a Detroit Lion had he of declared last year. If we don't get Bradford it means will draft an OL in the first round and have either Colt, Woodson, or possible Chase Daniels as our QB next year which I'd be ok with.

I don't expect Bradford or any rookie to come in and play great from the get-go, but if we get a great one, they will eventually help the O line (and receivers for that matter) look good. The same O line that everyone raves about in New England gave up the second most sacks last year. Why? because they had an inferior QB under center. Same thing happened when TC came in a few years back. A QB who makes good, quick decisions and accurate throws keeps Defenses on their heels and takes the pressure off the O linemen. Beleedat! |
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
We should put Haynesworth at qb and make the qb sneak the centerpiece of our offense. Miami can have its Wildcat because we would have the Bulldozer.

The chances that this statement proves true are remote at best. Great NFL QB's don't grow on trees. They are very rare. Maybe one per year on average graduates to the NFL. |
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
I really like Jake Locker. He has a cannon and he's very mobile. The poise he showed in the USC game was tremendous. We need a QB like that who can rise to the occasion once we play our NFC east opponents. Clausen would be a solid choice also.

Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
Does Sam Bradford come with Trent Williams?
Kinda like a package deal? |
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
Picking up a QB in the first round, who has twice injured his throwing shoulder and did not play in his entire final college season, is probably one of the most laughable things I keep hearing from fans.
Unless there is absofuckinglutely no possibility for the team to pick up a franchise tackle (funny how people forget how well things worked the last time we picked one of those) with our first round pick, then the team should look into other options. As much as people get a boner when they talk about Parcells and how great of a GM he is, they should take a page from his book. He built his o-line by drafting a franchise tackle (he could have picked up Ryan, Flacco, or Quinn in that draft) and picking up his right tackle in the later rounds (Vernon Carey). He picked up a decent veteran QB (Pennington) and drafted his QB of the future in the 2nd round in 2008 (Henne). |
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
While I think specific arguments can be made against all the QB's coming out this year, and should be, anyone saying that the Redskins shouldn't draft a QB on principle because the team has more glaring needs or whatever is out of their mind. This team is headed for a total rebuild on the offensive side and that has to start with QB. Now if you don't believe in the guys available when we pick you can put it off for another year, but getting a franchise qb either this year or next should be the absolute number one priority of this team. After all, no one has won a Superbowl with a free agent QB since 2002, and there's been only two teams since our last win in 91 to capture a championship without a superstar/ hall of fame type player behind center (Ravens and Bucs).
As for Bradford, Gtripp's analysis is basically spot on. Drafting a qb in the top 10 with an injured throwing arm is dicey, and the fact that Adrian Peterson has turned out to be great does not mitigate that risk for me. That being said, when healthy he has more than demonstrated the ability to succeed in a pro-style offense, which is increasingly rare for college qb's these days. |

Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
According to your blog and a prior report by ESPN...not a story at least yet:
http://www.thewarpath.net/620354-post285.html
Saw on ESPN News earlier in the week a story that the Skins will know better than anyone else if Bradford is able to play and is good healthwise because Dr. James Andrews did his surgery and is our team doc. I guess they have a point, other teams may be wavering about his durability but we'll know better than them either way, but really, it's not much of a story. Healthy or not, I don't want us to draft him in the 1st round. We need a line.
I thought we weren't supposed to link to our blogs anymore? |

Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
I swear, if the Skins actually keep this pick instead of trading away and building the O-line, I am going to s*** a brick.
|
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
Can someone tell me what is so good about Bradford? I've only seen him play once, last year in the title game. He looked good. He didn't look like a can't miss and if I remember he was in shotgun the whole time.
Clausen really looks like a pro QB to me..... and I would in no way shape or form even think about McCoy or Tebow. |
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
The problem though is that whoever takes him is going to have to make a decision on him, more or less "in the dark" on his physical state.
I mean, every team will have medical reports on him, but no one is going to get to see him throw the football before his personal workout, and those are somewhat valueless anyway because it's not a standardized field like the combine, or at least a pro day. So it makes him the ultimate high-risk, high-reward prospect. On the pro side, he was really, really good in pretty much perfect conditions two years ago. On the downside, what have you done for me lately? Not a whole lot. Clausen is much safer because of that, but it's because he's safer that we don't have a chance in hell of getting him. Not that he'd be a good investment with this team anyway.
Why? We're looking at 3-13 IMO. What teams that are worse than us needs a qb. Clev, STL, Oak...if they give up on Russell. |
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
We need a quarterback, of that there's no doubt. But first we need a foundation to build on, which is a solid offensive line. As someone pointed out earlier, this is a rebuilding process that will take time. For a rookie QB to develop he will need plenty of time to make his reads. If he is worried about pressure, gets sacked a lot or knocked down that's going to delay his development. Bradford would be injured before the bye week behind this line. There’s no way he could make it. We could be in a very good position if we trade our high first round pick away to get an extra second round pick. Then we could select 3 OL in the first 2 rounds.

Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
I would hope that a good qb could be had in the late 1st or 2nd. I agree w/whoever posted about Parcell's moves in Miami. OT is one of the safest picks in the draft & they can last a long time. QB is 50/50.
I'm not saying Colt B. is the man, but I'd been saying for a couple of years that we needed to draft a backup qb. they got Palmer & Colt in back to back years in late rounds. Regardless of how it turns out, those were decent picks IMO. Let's see if Colt can move up to #2 next year. Then, maybe he'll show his starting material. I'm not saying he will, nor am I saying not to draft a qb, just saying it would be really sweet if our future qb were already on the roster. |
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
Was just listening to Mel Kiper on Espn radio. He still has Bradford as the number one QB on his big board. I can't for-see any team drafting him if McCoy or Clausen is still available.
|
Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
i thought tony pike was the best qb in the draft apperently i might be wrong it doesn't matter who is in at qb in cincy their program is sick zach colleras has over 300 yds in the first half, but if you don't just look at the big name schools there are even better qb's in my mind look at case keenum at houston he has great numbers this year about the same as mccoy, and we could prob pick him up later in the draft too after a solid ol prospect

Give me the cornerstone of a dominant OL, then whomever plays QB will be that much safer (and better) down the line. Hello people - we won a Super Bowl with Mark Rypien, and made it to a conference championship with Jay Schroeder. That's what great OL play can do. Ordinary QBs can become near Pro Bowl caliber with a great OL that gives them time to operate.

Campbell was one of the least sacked QBs in the NFL before Samuels went down. Did I miss the part where we were 4-0 and Campbell was throwing for 300 yards and 3 TDs per game? The Mary Rypien method of winning Super Bowls is the exception, not the norm. I'd rather go with the more proven method... with guys named Manning, Brady, Warner, Favre, Elway and Roethlisberger. Maybe you catch lightning in a bottle once with someone like Dilfer, but with an elite QB you can win multiple SBs and be in the running every year. And BTW, great QBs have a way of making their O lines look dominant. Cassell was the second most sacked QB in the NFL last year. When Brady's under center, they don't give up sacks. Curious how that happens. |

I agree with your general premise, however lets take a look at the last 4 QB's that's won a Superbowl. Ben Rothlisberger, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning. All elite, franchise QB's. An elite QB will force the opposing defense to drop more men in coverage instead of stacking the front box. That would take tremendous pressure off our offensive lineman. I agree that we need to draft lineman, but we're going no where without an elite QB. We'll be just like Minnesota without Brett Farve. A great running team that can't convert in 3rd and long situations. We have drafted some of our best lineman in the later rounds. Russ Grimm 4th, Joe Jacoby(undrafted) Jeff Bostic was a second round pick George Starke 11th round pick. That's *why* we need to use the first pick to acquire a talented QB, and use our 2nd, 3rd, etc to draft lineman, and pick up a few free agents. |

Re: Sam Bradford now leads to Redskins
Sam Bradford is not worth our first pick unless he slips and we trade down. We need linemen just as bad and a guy like clausen from notre dame or somebody of that caliber. Colt Brennan should also deserve a chance.

This week's update still has QB Sam Bradford leading to the Redskins among the 36 most updated mock drafts. However, QB Jake Locker is gaining. |
