Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
I prefer to call it my "Surrogate Team", which would be the Atlanta Falcons. I would never spend a dime on their gear, but I'm boycotting ours too until Cerrato is gone.
|
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
The Crimson Tide is my another team Ingram 4 Heisman!!!
|
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
My "scab" NFL team (though I would never buy any of their gear) is actually the Titans...so I'm happy to see them playing well today
Back in the 80s I liked the Cleveland Browns a lot, but when they moved to Baltimore it just wasn't the same. And when Cleveland got a new team, it still wasn't the same So really for the last 10 years or so it's been Redskins then Titans...go Vince Young!! |

Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
Being a Redskins fan is like being in a bad marriage. If I were to ever get out of it I would do something else with my time.
Also, The Redskins are my one true love, I could never be a true fan to another team. |
Hell no...Die hard till I die. I couldn't even pull for another team if I wanted to, the Skins are in my blood. Its the reason I watch every minute of every game even when it gets as bad as this year. It has its rewards....it was most likely only the die hards that got to see Brunell launch two bombs to Moss in the last 3 minutes to beat the Cowboys in 06...the half ass fans had probably gone to bed.
Its hard to stick with the Skins right now, but the true fans will.
That was in '05. |
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
I'll root for the H.Rockets and the Texas Rangers which are usally bad but I dont get the same feeling Washington gives me. They give me the highest of high and the lowest of lows. As mentioned earliar about the Monday Night game with Brunell to Moss hook up man was that the greatest it immediatly put a smile on my face when i read that post.
Correct me if im wrong but I beleave it was Shawn Taylor that blocked a field goal and ran it back for a touchdown in the closing seconds against Dallas a few years ago. That was the greatest finish to a game if there ever was one. But I cant root for an other team with the same passion and I am actually glad I found this site because before I never spoke with any true fans before. HTTR!!! |
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
So basically you enjoy whoever is doing well.
I get all the losing I can handle from the Skins, Orioles, Nationals, and Terps. It makes me feel better to watch winning teams. |
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
my "scab" team is the Washington sentinals that shane falco is AMAZING!
|
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
never.
|
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
and as for that blocked field goal against Dallas post above....
it was TROY VINCENT, SEAN Taylor simply picked it up and returned it and also got a 15 yd face mask to put Nick Novak JUST... in range to win that game. |

Its hard to stick with the Skins right now, but the true fans will.[/qt totally agree. the Skins are my one and only i root for. When your team is bad thats when you find who is a true fan.
I to agree I watch every game no matter what our record is. Thats what real true fans do. Anyone can root for a team when they are winning. True fans get tested when your team is awful like ours is at the moment. I still got faith they can win a few more games this season, if not i still will be watching at home in Cali. |
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
I don't really have another team I latch on to, I just like watching good football no matter who is on, well except for Dallas of course.
I'd like to see the Colts and Saints in the SB. Two of my favorite QBs in Manning and Brees. I'm also having fun watching the Vikings this year with Favre. They have such a solid all around team. |
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
My girlfriend is diehard Raiders but I've made her into a Skins fan too so I gotta reciprocate and root for Raiders in the AFC -- talk about a rough few years for us!
But in the NFC this year would love to see Saints make the SB. Love it when historically bad teams make great runs. Would love to see Saints/Bengals, such a longshot though. |
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
While I'd never buy anything that wasn't Redskins related, I have family in Cincy, and have followed the Bengals since Boomer's days (doesn't hurt that he's a Maryland alum). I'm a fan of sports, so I'll watch the Caps, Nats, O's, Bullets, Terps Football and Basketball. A family friend's son just transferred to South Florida, so I've been following them a bit this year.

Which also brings up the question, how long do you think it will take before we are a real contender again? |
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
Not a particular team per se, but watching the Red Zone channel all day on Sunday the past two weeks has offered a nice reprieve. Not sure how the NFL Network version stacks up, but that and Short Cuts have to be the greatest innovations ever in NFL viewing.

Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
I am a die hard fan. Been with the Skins since my childhood, almost 50 years. I'm at the end of the rope, looking to jump off. I'm completely fed up with this organization and I'm boycotting the team. I'm not wearing any of their sh$t until Danny Boy hires a competent staff. I can deal with the losing. It's the lack of direction that's killing me. While on boycott I'm rooting for the Ravens. It's not with the same passions as the Skins but I can't give blind support to a franchise that does give a sh$t about their fans.

I visited their site and it had a forum link up top, but nice try. |
Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
I don't think a die hard fan would do that.

Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
I've always had 2nd and 3rd favorite teams (Saints and Bengals (apparently I'm a masochist)). The Bengals used to be #2, but after living in New Orleans for a brief period and having my fiancee as a Saints fan, I'm pulling hard for them now. Certainly not more so than the Skins, but definitely rooting for them.
No one ever takes the number 1 spot, not even for a season, but I've always rooted for those teams when they were not playing the Skins. Outside of football, I'm an O's and Hornets fan with the Wizards making a comeback. I'm a strange kind of basketball fan, I follow players more than teams excluding the two I listed. So, I like to watch plenty of teams because of players I like, but I root for the Wizards and Hornets regardless (unless the Hornets let CP3 go, then I'm off that). |

Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
I'm actually a Pats fan, mainly cause I play in a 4 player keeper league and have had Brady for 5 years.... so I'm always rooting for Brady. But I like some of their other players and they're very well coached.

That's too bad but I feel your pain. I'm not at the end of the rope but Snyder and Cerrato are pushing me there. The lack of direction and structure is very frustrating. |

Farve is just playing really well, still has a gun, not throwing stupid passes, looking guys off, using a little mobility...he's just balling. The guy is a true freak of nature. And Percy Harvin is a total beast. |

Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
No other favorite NFL team for me. I do have individual favorite players from other teams that I like to watch, but not favorite teams. Only the Redskins. They can be 0-16 and I'd still be a Redskins fan.

Re: Do you have a "Scab Team"?
There have been a lot of good things mentioned that really come into play on this. I think what it comes down to, for me, is the emotional attachment I have to the team... well over 30 years. On the flip side though, it really is difficult to care for a team in which it appears that the owner has no care for, outside of monitary gain. If Snyder did care, he would do something about it. But then, I think about how successful of a business man he is, that he must know something I don't. Clearly he doesn't know how to run a football organization, but you would think he knows something about operations, and if your key man running the operation isn't producing results, you take the accountability back to him. I just can't imagine him being so blind.
Yes, I will never give up on our Burgandy and Gold, they will always be number one in my heart. Hell, I am even wearing my gear out publicly, if anything, it is a great conversation starter. |

I just can't seem to like any other teams but ones I was brought up on. (O's, Skins, Bullets/Wiz, Caps), I've tried to like the Ravens especially since they're practically local, but everytime I watch them, I find myself hoping that they'll lose. EDIT: Okay.. I do like the Red Sox. But other than that nobody else. |

When the Skins beat someone like the Giants, Eagles or Cowboys, I'm hyped up for a week. I don't know if those days will ever return. Like I said, I'm hanging by a thread, Danny can reel me in by taking action in right direction. This organization must change. It's the laughing stock of the league. They have past the Raiders, Lions and Browns. |
