Your thinking of the year that Troy A. was a rookie and they won one game that year and it was against us. My parents went on a 3 hour bus trip to RFK for that game and there was one Dallas fan on the bus. They gave her a hard time going up and she got smashed at the game. They had to then listen to the one drunk Dallas fan for 3 hours. They kept giving her drinks thinking she would pass out but she only got louder and louder. If I'm correct it was also our last SB win in 1992 and we went 17-2.
That was actually 89 if I recall correctly, I was only 6 so I could be wrong.
i was there as well and i heard a couple we want dallas chants, one was the guy sitting in the row in front of me, i didn't join in, we actually looked pretty good sunday, but i need to see some consistancy, but i do think we have a shot cause we always do with dallas

also i just hate the idea of playing dallas w/o cooley, out of all the guys on our team i thknk he gets the rivalry more than anyone else
Cooley gets it... Smoot apparently teaches all of the young D guys what it's all about... Hall should know considering he grew up a fan... Malcolm Kelly grew up a Dallas fan so he should know...

I don't know who Barnes and Heyer followed, but they went to UMD.. dockery will remember... orakpo and mike williams went to Texas so they might know

Haynesworth stomped a guy from the Cowboys.. Carter's been with us long enough to know, hopefully he gets it

we'll see

I guess it was kinda funny if you are into that sort of thing.

One of my Dallas friends once gave me a very nice Dallas flag (3x4) and rather than burn it, I chose to find a new Dallas fan that would appreciate the gift.

It all depends on what you think is humor.

Again Game on.
sand how old are you? do you know what this rivalry is all about?
The rivalry hasn't meant shit for ages Dmek. Thing is it is a one sided rivarly anymore. Skins fans still think it is, while I am not so sure about Cowboy fans. Just isn't the same. Both franchises are experiencing a low ebb in their respective histories. You also add the fact that the NFC East is fading fast, and you don't have much of a real rivalry feel to it. Last time I thought there was any inkling of the rivalry left was when Brunell hit Moss for those two bombs to win 14-13 back in 2005. That being said I do think we have a decent chance of winning on Sunday, but to me the rivalry is pretty much DOA. To get the rivalry back where it used to be, both franchises need to turn their respective fortunes around and have the game mean something.

A Baltimore sports talk personality said that it was the best rivalry in football. Kind of surprising, since they are all about the Steelers here.

The guy is an idiot then. Ohio State Michigan is way more intense than Dallas Washington and has gone on for almost a century. Even if the game isn't for the Big Ten title it is about getting a better bowl game and pride. You haven't had that intensity with Wash/Dallas since Landry and Gibbs.

I respectfully disagree. If you go to a Cowboys fan site you will find many fans who have anti-Redskins messages for avatars and signatures. Once they find out you are a Skins fan, they will immediately attack you like hungry piranhas. I can't speak for Cowboys players but for many of the Cowboys fans, it's on.

I tend to agree. Cowboy fans understand the rivalry.
Then again, it the Cowboys themselves do not, than we Redskin Fans may have a great Sunday ahead of us.

In my circle of family and friends, roughly half are 'Skins fans, half Cowgirls fans. My lady is a Dallas fan (which if I'd known before we got together we might not be together, LOL). Every last one of them knows about, feeds into, and promotes the rivalry. Hell, this game this Sunday is the first one me and my lady are gonna watch together snce the 'Skins tapped that Cowgirl ass in 2006 when ST returned that onside kick after they blew their FG (she was so sure they'd won, she left to go pee and when she came back I was whoopin it up; she left five minutes later and I didn't get laid that night, but it was SO worth it to the 'Skins fan in me, haha).

For everyone I know who loves either or team, yeah, its on. Maybe the players on the teams don't all get it, but the fans sure do.

And to the NFL, with its penchant for history, it's def one of the best and often noted rivalres in pro football. When we win it's like we won the Superbowl, and vice versa.
The Cowboys are one of the biggest posers in the league right now. Roy Williams proves week after week that they gave up way too much to get him. I would say behind T.O., he's probably the most overrated WR in the game right now. If Romo was a basketball player, he'd be Robert Horry. Streaky and known for a few big moments. The game within the game is going to be field position and how we counter their front seven. If they create problems for Campbell out the gate, it's going to be a long day. But if we can jump out to a 10 point lead, our running game could serve us well.

The Redskins can win this game guys. We're going to go to Dallas with a lot of confidence and if the defense can solve the issue they had with Brandon Marshall, I think we can harrass Romo into making a few costly errors. Which he is very capable of doing.

I say Skins 20 - Dallas 13.
I love when a bad team calls another a poser...priceless I'll take this bet

No way man, it is the Giants, that is the biggest rivalry for the Cowboys.

You see, with the Redskins and the Eagles, the players really respect each other.

But the Giants have been very public and vocal about just outright HATING the Cowboys and vic versa. Brandon Jacobs being the biggest mouth out there.

As evidence of that, after the Giants-Cowboys game in week 2 at Cowboys stadium, the Giants players vandalized the visitors locker room. They trashed lockers, pissed in lockers and wrote graffitti on the walls.

I could see what your saying maybe 5 yrs ago but the past couple of years the rivalry is pretty much been 50/50. Just because Dallas had that stretch of winning does not deminish the rivalry.

Our team has not been playing well this season but that fact does not diminish the anticipation and anxiety that accompany Dallas week. It's still the best rivalry in the NFC east, maybe in the NFL.

The excitement level dosen't seem to be at an all-time high due mainly to our record. We don't know what to expect anymore, but Redskins Cowboys always has been, and always will be the greatest in live entertainment.

Have fun at the game sand trap.

Zorn is not 2-0 against the girls.. Yes we beat them at their stadium last year, but we laid an egg at our own. I was there. It was pittiful.

I'm excited about Dallas week. I really think the game could go in either direction. If we play like we did against the Broncos we will definately have a shot. If we play like we did the first 8 games Dallas wins.

while the rivalry does not seem as heated as years past, fans from both sides agree that you can throw records, rankings and stats out the window whenever we meet up.

should be a good one, seems the boys oline is really taking a beating with injuries and on-field play. hopefully blache will dial up some pressure and romo wont be able to escape, scramble and make big plays.

I would not say "a beating" they only lost one player to injury. But the confidence is pretty high with Doug Free starting in place of Columbo. Free is big, ahtletic, was taken in the 4th round as depth at LT behind Flozell.

And lest we forget, when he practices, he has lined up against a guys named Ware, Ellis, and Spencer.

Still, game time could be different, but I think he will be fine.

I am concerned about Ken Hamlin going out for 4 weeks, I have never been a fan of Pat Watkins, and the only other guy they have back there is a rookie, Mike Hamlin (no relation) who has been hurt since the preseason and is activated for the first time this season. He shows tremendous promise, but, is a rookie with ZERO playing credability at the pro level.

I agree. I think one reason why the Cowboys are 6-3 is because the offensive line has stayed relatively healthy. Now, if Leonard Davis or especially Flozell went down in addition to Columbo, the Cowboys would be in some serious trouble.
