Re: death sucks
Far be it for me to sissy up this place, but this song actually helps me cope with loss. I'm probably going to lose my dog soon, which clearly isn't the same as losing a father, mother, sister, brother, or other loved one. But nevertheless.
Even if this particular song doesn't help, I hope you can find something (Bible, friends, etc.) to help you all cope. Re: death sucks
Death Cab For Cutie is sissy enough, didn't need to mention the coping part. But yeah, mostly whatever helps you get through the tougher times is good.

Normally, both your asses would be dead as fucking fried chicken, but you happen to pull this shit while I'm in a transitional period so I don't wanna kill you, I wanna help you. But I can't give you this case, it don't belong to me. Besides, I've already been through too much shit this morning over this case to hand it over to your dumb ass. |

Re: death sucks
Ego comes about through a split in the human psyche in which identity separates into two parts that we could call "I" and "me" or "me" and "myself." Every ego is therefore schizophrenic, to use the word in its popular meaning of split personality. You live with a mental image of yourself, a conceptual self that you have a relationship with. Life itself becomes conceptualized and separated from who you are when you speak of "my life." The moment you say or think "my life" and believe in what you are saying (rather than it just being a linguistic convention), you have entered the realm of delusion. If there is such a thing as "my life," it follows that I and life are two separate things, and so I can also lose my life, my imaginary treasured possession. Death becomes a seeming reality and a threat. Words and concepts split life into separate segments that have no reality in themselves. We could even say that the notion "my life" is the original delusion of separateness, the source of ego. If I and life are two, if I am separate from life, then I am separate from all things, all beings, all people. But how could I be separate from life? What "I" could there be apart from life, apart from Being? It is utterly impossible. So there is no such things as "my life," and I don't have a life. I am life. I and life are one. It cannot be otherwise. So how could I lose my life? How can I lose something that I don't have in the first place? How can I lose something that I Am? It is impossible.

Re: death sucks
Lost my dog yesterday. I realize it pales in comparison to losing friends or family. But still. Definitely feeling it, death does indeed suck.
|
Re: death sucks
A long time ago now, I was 18, I went away for a weekend, my dog was pregnant, and due any time. I got home, and she had died giving birth. I have never forgotten how I felt when I got back and found out.
I am sorry for your loss - dogs are so close to family. |

Re: death sucks
Sorry I haven't been around much lately.
My Mother-in-Law left us yesterday evening to be with God after an almost two year battle with lung cancer. She was at peace when she passed. For you folks that smoke, I know it isn't easy to quit, but please think about quiting so you have as much time here in this life with your families. |
Re: death sucks
Sorry to hear about the loss you and your family are suffering Sammy. The best thing that can be said about cancer is when it is over. She goes to better world.....
My prayers will go out for her, for you and your famly.....right now. |
Lost my dog yesterday. I realize it pales in comparison to losing friends or family. But still. Definitely feeling it, death does indeed suck.
Unfortunately just posted in this thread and sorry I missed your post. I lost my dog almost three years ago, I miss him everyday. We have his ashes right next to our bed, where he always slept. My belated condolences. You've probably already read it, but the rainbow bridge and this helped, at least a little.
Dogs In Heaven? An old man and his dog were walking down this dirt road with fences on both sides, they came to a gate in the fence and looked in, it was nice grassy, woody areas, just what a 'huntin' dog and man would like, but, it had a sign saying 'no trespassing' so they walked on. They came to a beautiful gate with a person in white robes standing there. "Welcome to Heaven" he said. The old man was happy and started in with his dog following him. The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't allowed, I'm sorry but he can't come with you." "What kind of Heaven won't allow dogs? If he can't come in, then I will stay out with him. He's been my faithful companion all his life, I can't desert him now." "Suit yourself, but I have to warn you, the Devil's on this road and he'll try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but the dog can't go there either. If you won't leave the dog, you'll spend Eternity on this road." So the old man and dog went on. They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it, no gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside. "S'cuse me Sir, my dog and I are getting mighty tired, mind if we come in and sit in the shade for awhile?" "Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves comfortable" "You're sure my dog can come in? The man down the road said dogs weren't allowed anywhere." "Would you come in if you had to leave the dog?" "No sir, that's why I didn't go to Heaven, he said the dog couldn't come in. We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some shade would be mighty fine right about now. But, I won't come in if my buddy here can't come too, and that's final." The man smiled a big smile and said "Welcome to Heaven." "You mean this is Heaven? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the road said they weren't?" "That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay. They soon find out their mistake, but then it's too late. The dogs come here, the fickle people stay there. GOD wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from Heaven. After all, HE created them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?" Author Unknown |

I'm glad AH's brother died. Everyone who goes 100 mph on a bike deserves to.

Well there's no question that other thread was getting ugly. Still, to come over to this one and to start shit up again is just childish.

An Insanity thread would be awesome. Or I should bump my old vent thread, where people could just bitch and be distasteful about whatever they wanted in one thread. |

I would agree with that. You know Schneed, I have a lot of respect for you because you bring a lot of insight to these boards on certain topics, but some things are just in bad taste. Everybody and their mothers knows your opinion on Albert Haynesworth's bro, you don't need to keep repeating it. And sorry about your loss SS33. At least she's in a better place now, and I'll be sure to bring my dad in here and read your post since everything else I've told him to try and make him quit smoking hasn't worked yet. |
Re: death sucks
I don't give a rat's ass about bad taste. I'll speak my mind, and when I'm not allowed to express a valid opinion, yeah I get pissy and childish.

SS33 sorry for your MIL my prayers are with you and your family. As far S10, I don't agree with you saying you are glad he died but I do agree that my heart is not all the heavy for him he could have easily taken someone else's life who was innocently going along. What if and this is a really possibility if AH step brother had died but also took out a family four that include a mom a dad a 5 year old child and a new born something tells me folks would not be compassionate about his death. To me these daredevil motorcyclist are just as bad as a drunk diver. |

The logic was the fact that you basically stated he was going 100 mph and thought the world was better off without him. I'm not going to go into it a lot, but that's a pretty shitty thing to say. In a lot of cases you can say that premature deaths are caused by someone acting irresponsibly... Maybe he was a model in his community? Maybe this was the first time he ever did that? I'm two weeks away from year one of the death of my only brother. This type of stuff hits amazingly close to home. It's one of those things you can never understand until it happens to you. It's one of those things that you can keep to yourself if you feel that way. Someone died, and if the same situation happened to you, the last thing you'd want to hear is how better off the Earth is without your loved one in it. |
