I haven't seen that from this coaching staff all season long. At this point what does it hurt to see what other players can do.
Well, if the starter at a position is playing awful and you have a guy behind him who could potentially start down the road, then maybe you make the switch. With the QB position for us, that's not the case. At this point I think it's important to see more of JC the next 5 games playing with guys who he could potentially be playing with in the future. No need to throw a nobody in there at QB. We know who Todd Collins is. I don't see any reason to make a move with JC right now. Makes no sense really. |
Re: Jason Campbell Says He Blacked Out After Hit on Final Drive
Jason Campbell should eat my farts....this guy blows...this team will never win anything until they draft Sam Bradford...I wish Zorn and Sherm Lewis got concussions with Campbell Soup so they could all go away at once...
How many days until pitchers and catchers report for spring training? |

I agree the only way you bench JC is if he is not able to play due to injury |

No, but Sam Bradford will not air passes over the heads of our wide receivers....Jason Campbell is too stupid to be a starting QB in the NFL....the guy's a moron....

Re: Jason Campbell Says He Blacked Out After Hit on Final Drive
I'm not completely sold on JC either, but I find it funny that we have the worse group of starters on the o-line in the NFL and we talk more about the QB than the o-line. We have a guy starting at LT who didn't even sign with a team until halfway through the season. We have an UDFA rookie center starting at RG and an UDFA starting at RT. Rabach, while maybe doing better this year than last, will never, and has never been, one of the best in the league. We got him from Baltimore because they had someone better. Our backup RG, Mike Williams was retired for 4 years and came into camp at around 450 pounds. I'm not saying some of these guys don't deserve to be here, but this is really kind of comical if you think about it. These guys are who our QB is playing behind. I mean really, are we expecting a little more than we have a right to? Granted we had our regular guys at the beginning of the year, but the truth is, they're not very good either.

Re: Jason Campbell Says He Blacked Out After Hit on Final Drive
Reading this thread sort of hints at who's watching the games and who's not. JC is tough as nails. The kid has taken a terrific pounding now two years in a row and all the while managed to improve basically all his stats. He just keeps standing in there win or lose and that shows more grit and heart than a lot of QBs in the league.
...on the other side of the ledger he is still mistake prone, from poor throws to some bad decisions. I've kinda decided Jason isn't a game-changer in the big scheme of things. He's not gonna win a game the team would otherwise lose and vice-versa (just my opinion here...I know some think he can win games we'd otherwise lose while others think he's losing winnable games for us). But anyway I'd follow that statement up w/ the question how many QBs can you name win games the team would otherwise lose? I can't count many. |

Totally agree. People are really kidding themselves if they think a new QB is going to magically fix all of our problems. The OL is the mess that needs to be fixed. It won't matter who is under center as long as we keep ignoring the glaring needs up front. |

Someone in management has the philosophy that you can plug any ole guy into an o-line. Whoever that is needs to be fired, today! |

Why would anyone consider a broken up dude like Bradford? If we wanted a broken up QB we could send Nawlens draft picks and get Brunell back. |

By the way I thought the non-call on JC getting slammed to the ground was pretty bad.

Apparently he doesn't have enough status with the officials. They definitely don't put a skirt on JC. That's 2 weeks in a row we got a no-call at the end of the game that would have benefitted us if they would have called it. |

That is two weeks in a row that non-calls have happened to our team. Ware was easily offsides last week. Moose said there should have been a hold called in one of the early plays of the 4th qtr goal line series today and there is no excuse for that hit on Campbell. That is a point of emphasis this season, especially after Albert destroyed the Golden Boy. Trust me, if one of our guys had done that to Romo last week every flag would be on the field and they probably would be ejected. That being said, terrible irrelevant teams typically don't get these calls and that is where we are... |

I have disagreed with the "blow the whole thing up" regularly. The league is built to have teams rebound from bad seasons. This is also why I disagree with those who want to just drop Campbell. That would be idiotic. No one clearly better is going to be out there and those who think McCoy and Bradford could do any better behind Stephon Heyer? I hope you don't have a piss test tomorrow... We need to restrict Campbell because he is not going to get a big contract offer, and if he does we get compensated. Pretty simple. If we get a couple of legitimate quality offensive linemen we are right there. We have skill players and we will have high picks. So bring a football guy in here and let's go. |

If i was a Bill Parcells or any big name GM or football CZar I would risk my reputation on this Redskins team because this football team is not that far away from being there . Look at the Dolphins in 2007 . They sucked BUT they played every game hard . Hell they lost to the Steelers 3-0 . The Redskins have just had the worst luck and yes the RBs need new flesh and the O-line needs to be rebuilt but the team DOES NOT need to be blown up because then we will be in a worse situation than we are now . I actually think we have to be careful . I think because there are real serious questions about the top QB prospects in the draft and the lack of talent in the FA then some teams are going to look at Campbell as a possibility . I know Cowboys fans who would prefer Campbell over Romo, Bears fans would rather they had our JC and not the one they have ... Dolphins fans would like him, Carolina fans would like him ... in fact of the few teams that wouldn't seem to include Redskins fans ... |
Re: Jason Campbell Says He Blacked Out After Hit on Final Drive
If Campbell stayed in 1 system since hes been here I bet he would of proved hes our franchise QB. Its obvious he wont be here next year but I think he will be a big name QB some where else one day.

Re: Jason Campbell Says He Blacked Out After Hit on Final Drive
Well, if there's one thing you can't knock Campbell for, it's toughness and resiliency. That's why I "facepalmed" your comment. Didn't seem like you were kidding. If you were, cool. If not, I mean, all you really have to do is watch how many times he gets right back up after getting squashed. If nothing else, he's a tough dude.
Oh I wasn't kidding. Now if the man was actually hurt then I do feel bad for him. It's just that it happened to come off what looked a lot softer than the other hits that he was taking and for him to lay down like that after a missed opportunity seemed a little coincidental. Facepalm it if that's how you feel, and I can understand that. I'm just saying for me, it's kinda like the guy that you bowl with and everytime he gets a gutter or misses an easy spare he looks down at his hand like it hurts. That's all. He is a tough guy I'll give him that. He plays Philly extremely well though. |
Funny..............but seriously how many penalties do the line get false start & holding penalties and force 3rd & long but now you put hella pressure on him to convert in those situations without the proper tools.
He's not in 3rd and long all the time. It happens to every QB here and there but some can make it happen, some can't. But it's not his fault though. Yup, it's always everone around him but he is the victim. The guy that doesn't want to call his own protections is the victim. But you all are right, it's the o-line, the coaches.... I'm sorry....every coach that he has had because everyone is out to get him, the owner, the GM, Portis, Moss, everyone except him. |
Re: Jason Campbell Says He Blacked Out After Hit on Final Drive
He was actually pretty good on 3rd down yesterday, especially 3rd and long.
The past few weeks I've gained some newfound respect for JC. He's taking a beating but he's playing well despite some really difficult circumstances. |

Re: Jason Campbell Says He Blacked Out After Hit on Final Drive
JC is a good competitor but he also makes a ton of bad decisions. Plus he's too slow at making them, so we never see him at his best. He ovethrows his receivers on a lot of the...make that MOST of his deep passes.

yes they did,and i heard them talking about it on nfl network on sirius this morning. But thats the problem with officiating, maybe the biggest problem, and thats consistancy.Calls seem to vary from game to game, individual to individual. So unless robots are calling the games theres always going to be this problem |

He also threw 2 TDs and ran in another. |
Re: Jason Campbell Says He Blacked Out After Hit on Final Drive
^I think he's a decent QB. I think he could get the job done if he had a lot more time to get it done in. I still have issues with the fact that he seems to misread where the rush is coming from and doesn't move his protection to that side or change into something more favorable. I know media pundits have said there are some plays he can't change out of but a good system should always have an availability to change into something more favorible given what the defense is doing at the time.
I do think his speed of processing is slower then the great QB's out there. Why do I say that...for several reasons: 1) He seems to be missing reads down field and either throws the ball away or goes to his undernieth route. 2) His wind up has been mentioned before as being too slow. 3) I see JC having 3-7 sec. to get rid of the ball before pressure gets to him. I believe this is a normal time for most QB's. I'll take whatever OL is giving their QB 10-15 sec. to get rid of the ball. They even mentioned during one of the games on Thanksgiving how the team set up the plays so the QB could take a 3 step drop and throw the ball because of the other teams ability to rush the QB. 3 sec. and the ball was out. 4) I also think he might have some coordination issues. He seems to have trouble taking the ball, back peddling, and looking for a receiver who is WIDE open. He is tentative to throw the ball if it's in tight coverage and the hesitation usually results in a batted ball. This week he did better. He constantly looked to another receiver prior to going to the one he wanted and pump faked a few times which I have felt he needed to do all last season and this season. Not to mention sliding. but again he's the best QB we have right now. Collins is getting old and can't scramble. I like Colt but as we have seen with Favre I think he would be the one who completes a lot of balls and has a lot intercepted. |

Actually bradford is pretty mobile, he just never had to run at ou... I would take him or clausen but seriously we need to have a veteran backup and not Collins. Jc won't stay as a backup so maybe we go out and sign bulger or something |
Re: Jason Campbell Says He Blacked Out After Hit on Final Drive
I think Campbell these past few weeks has played the way many (including Snyder and Cerrato) have wanted him to play for a long time now. And that's without excuses. Yeah things aren't great around him. But the best QBs don't just succumb to the situation and say "oh well. them's the breaks." No, they go out there and make plays and play with the idea of "I'm the QB. This is my team. And if I have to make things happen then I will." Case in point-that pass to DT on I believe 3rd down

We know that. But I wish people around here would stop acting like if JC has a great line he's going to become a top QB. He's simply not ever going to be a top QB that can win a game for us. It's the same old things....Can't make accurate throws consistently, can't look off defenders, scared to throw downfield, skiddish in the pocket and so on. The last play on offense yesterday sums up JC. Game on the line and he throws it in the dirt. |
Re: Jason Campbell Says He Blacked Out After Hit on Final Drive
^ drafting a qb has to be the number 1 need for any franchise... I know we need oline and we will address it with a new coach but we must draft either Bradford or clausen IMO.. Qb don't grow on trees and the only true star ol is Russell okung and he may be a top 2 pick .. Cle or det won't let him go
|
Re: Jason Campbell Says He Blacked Out After Hit on Final Drive
He doesn't need to be a "top QB" to win games. He does however need a better supporting cast, and that starts with the line.

Do you get deja vu a lot, Matt? Because this point has probably been made by dozens of posters for well over a year now. Jason barely has time on 3 step drops and the anti-Campbell people think he is the reason we are 3 and 8. He is not perfect. He makes bad throws and he hesitates too much. But who wouldn't hesitate when every other play a 260 to 300 pounder is going to flatten you. I thought Trent Cole was our fullback yesterday. |
