Anyone pre-ordering today?
I ordered one for my wife to use at home. I figure it will be convenient for web browsing on the couch or in bed. I went wifi but I'm thinking of changing that over to the 3g version for use on the boat this summer.

I gave in and ordered one. I'm always using my iPhone when I'm lounging around watching TV at night, figured it would be nice to have a larger screen and a faster device, so I figured why not. Thought it would be good for traveling too. My wife will probably use it a lot as well.

I really see no use for that thing. I have a lap top and I can surf on PS3 if I don't feel like pulling out my lap top. No offense to those that bought it but honestly look s like a waste of $500.

My wife got the Droid last night, pretty cool little phone.

At one point I thought the iPod wasn't a big need, same for the iPhone. I think tablets are going to be big in the near future, this is just the beginning.

Love mine so far. After using the iPad all weekend going back to the iPhone today is a little disappointing. No killer apps yet from what I've found, though Netflix streaming and ABC's app are both pretty damn good.

I am thinking about getting one and then juts using my lap top for like Microsoft Office stuff. My surfing will be all on the ipad. Does it boot up quick?

It's very fast.

The screen is very nice too, perfect for the web and watching movies/TV.

Isn't a bit of a pain to drag the iPad around vs. the iPhone?

Battery life is impressive too, though I haven't watched a full movie on it yet.

I used it all weekend and still had 40% left this morning before charging it back up.

how about using iphone developed apps that haven't been adjusted for the ipad yet? heard they look like crap when you 2x em, which is to be expected I guess

how about not being able to listen to Pandora and check e-mail at the same time? no true multi-tasking would kill any hope that I had for the thing

future versions should be good

I guess I'm just out of the main stream on these things. To me a new toy is a new driver, wake board, fishing pole, power tool, or something like that. I guess I look at computer stuff as work related items even though they are much more. Even though I'm into fishing and boating I find learning how to use the electronics a pain in the ass and not much fun.

Yeah the iPhone apps don't look so hot when you blow them up but I find myself simply browsing the internet more vs. using apps. I don't use Pandora much so I don't know, but you can use the iPod feature while doing something else.

2 happy days when owning a boat, the day you buy it and the day you sell it. I just know a bunch of folks who have boats so it is easy for me to get my boat fix with out dropping a ton of money into that money pit.

I'd bet money that there are people here who spend more money on electronics and related items then I'll spend on my boat this year. Right now I have about $250 into the boat and its ready for the summer so I should be good to go. I do plan on buying a new prop for around $300 so this year I should have around $550 into my boat. I do agree its nice to know people who own boats but I don't think I could go without having one. I think I was around 8 when I got my first boat and pretty much have owned one sense then.

Grew up on the Finger Lakes and have been around boats since I was young. Not looking at any major as I live on a smallish lake. Probably a 20 footer at the most.

I have sailed must of my life and have owned Lasers and O'days. We had a Boston Whaler for a little while. My neighbor was a big tuna sports fisherman and I use to go out with him all the time. Now he owned a BOAT. Use to compete in the RI Tuna Tournament.

Nothing like a lazy afternoon on the water in a boat fishing for a buzz, good times.

No one tank full in my boat at current prices is around $450. Most trips out we probably don't burn more then 15 to 20 gallons so its not that bad for a day of fun. Now if I'm out with my buds we will probably burn 30 to 45 gallons because we will go furture looking for bigger fish but we usually split the gas cost so it actually less out of my pocket.

If I remeebr correctly 1st down said he doesn't use much gas. My buddy has like a 25 footer and he fills it like 3 times a summer if that. A small fishing boat should not use much assuming you are using the current to troll (sp) with and you are not going 100 miles off shore.

Not sure why but I always think that you live in the DC area. My last boat was a 20' and we did do some lake trips which I really enjoy.

Actually the size of the boat is only a small part of the rate you burn fuel. My prior boat was 20' with 150 HP. and my current boat is a 25' with a 280 HP but its better on gas. The older outboard motors are great but they suck gas like crazy and my new boat has an inboard/outboard and its great on gas compared to the older outboards. Now the newer outboards are better on gas because of technology but they are big $ to have any work done on them.
