Carlos isn't sharp, and he drops interceptions, but I just don't get the hate for a guy that can be a very good corner in this league and for this team.

He had his mind elsewhere because of 5 different kids with 5 different women in 5 different states (I think). I say if Rogers will be unhappy trade him and take a chance on Cromartie or a 2nd or 3rd round pick instead.

Cromartie can catch a football though, thats one huge difference and he got toasted only a few times, but that was because of what you said, his mind was somewhere else last year. Cromartie had like 10+ int's that year which he had the longest play in NFL history.

Speaking for myself, it's the attitude he's displayed during his Redskins tenure that has constantly rubbed me the wrong way. It's been one obnoxious episode after another. However, I do think he's a very decent player who is underrated by Redskins fan. It's possible for me to separate my hate for Carlos the weird-faced kvetch and grudging respect for Carlos the player, although others have a harder time.

When Los dropped the pick 6 against Seattle in the '05 playoffs I think he somehow laid out the rest of his career path. He's underwhelming at best...when he gets burned or jams his hooves at the pigskin I want to shoot him w/ a pellet gun.

Yeah, I basically understand that part, and his lack of int's then adds a kicker, so I guess I get the basic disregard, but some fans have alot of vitriol towards him that seems to go beyond.

haha nice cult. but seriously, what did los expect? he needs to get over it and play ball. earn a contract, and we will give you one.

Re: Rogers tendered-whines about it
People on this board are way too rough on 'los. I don't agree with what he's saying, of course the skins tendered you. That's how this business runs. You're going to get a decent contract, just play for it. Personally, I think we should extend him a reasonable contract now after a down year. Carlos plays great coverage sure, he got burned a few times. Find me a CB that doesn't. It's part of the game. His hands are bad, he drops picks. I wish he made them, but he's not a WR, if he's shutting down a receiver -- he's doing his job.

I'm curious what fan sentiment would be like on players from the 80s if they had ways to quickly contact millions of fans (Facebook, twitter, 24 hour media, etc etc). These guys are just reacting. No time to think about what they're saying. That doesn't make saying stupid things "right" -- but I understand how certain mentalities can go over the top sometimes.

Also, those of you willing to take a 2nd round pick for a young and relatively talented corner. Think long and hard about who we have on this team to replace him. Smoot as a starter? Draft a complete gamble of a player in the 2nd round? People often over-value draft picks. I'm shocked at how many people are willing to toss away a proven commodity for a 2nd round crap shoot. Let's look at our 2nd rounders over the past 10 years.
Rocky McIntosh, Taylor Jacobs, Ladell Betts, Fred Smoot. Not a terrible list, but not a great one.
Ahahahaha. I somewhat agree with you in regards to Los. He reminds me of a young Smoot. Terrible at interceptions but good at making sure the WR does not get the ball. But what I don't like about Los is he way over values his performance. No way he makes Hall type money which is what he thinks he's worth.

and as you said he had a bad year, possibly due to the team not having an offense and when the team got down in points the defense would go into panic mode. There's no excaping the fact that he bit on double moves. Hopefully he can correct this over the summer. He plays better man-to-man bumping the WR at the line of scrimage. When he was put in zone he looked lost, got beat, and bit on double moves.

So it depends on what style of scheme they will use more often... man-to-man or zone to determine how valueable he is to the Skins. Plus every player is going to complain about being tendered. Everyone wants their pay day. I think he over values his status with us. You asked who would we put in his place? I'd use Barnes. or go out and spend for Rolle from the Cards.

Out of your 2nd round draft pick list I'd have expected more from Rocky and especially Betts who I think underperformed. I can't wait till everyone is supprised what Shanahan will be able to do with a 3rd or 4th rounder. Betts will be long forgotten. We won't talk about Jacobs, and Smoot has served his purpose. Knock him now but back when we first drafted him he did pretty good.

Re: Rogers tendered-whines about it

Also Los should be happy we tendered him for a 1st round pick. It shows the team likes him and wants to try to keep him. As most have said we probubly will only get a 2nd or 3rd out of it. Now had we started with that I could see his complaint.

I still don't think a 1st is all that bad. Will another team give us that for him? Maybe one who is despirate or thinks they are just one player away from the SB but I doubt it. I'm guessing his actuall value is more around a 2nd or 3rd.

i read this and felt he was more upset about not getting paid on a long-term deal while UFA's most definitely will.

I thought tendering Heyer at a 2nd was a laugh. I wouldn't trade the last pick in the 7th for him.

Re: Rogers tendered-whines about it

Truth is the Redskins need Carlos Rogers and Carlos Rogers needs the Redskins. Rogers wouldn't command as much as he thinks on the market and the Redskins, quite frankly, don't have much behind him by way of proven talent. Actually, I'd probably take either of Dallas' corners over Rogers in a starting situation. So minus Rogers' bitching and moaning, I think this will work out just fine for both parties.

After five seasons in the NFL he just hasn't proven much. That's not even debatable. Sure he's shown flashes here and there, and is probably still a considered a good raw talent, but raw talent don't win many games at this level. Cornerbacks need to do two things very well: 1) cover the opponent's wideout, and 2) catch interceptions. Unfortunately, Rogers has been okay at the first and downright horrible at the second.

If we can sign Dunta Robinson from the Texans then I would attempt to get no less than a 3rd and 6th rd pick for Carlos. Would rather have a 2nd rd pick but not sure if we could get that right now.

what a moron, i've never beena fan of carlos rogers anyways...always gets torched! and yes I think joe haden would look good in the B/G, but he did run a bad 40 time...which hopefully means he'll drop to us in the 2nd maybe? But, think of it this way...he did cover aj green and julio jones quite well.

Re: Rogers tendered-whines about it

I'm really over Carlos Rogers at this point. I mean, the guy does nothing but run his mouth and inevitably follows it up with a so-so game. He's a "starting caliber corner" insofar as there aren't that many in the league that are great, but at this point, I put him (and Hall) in the middle of the pack. (at least Hall can catch) Carlos complains and complains about the front office and a lot of times, I think he has a point, then he goes out and looks like trash on a double move and does nothing to help his team win. I'm just way over his act.

I think Carlos could use a change of scenery. I don't think he's the type of guy I'd want in my locker room if I were Mike Shanahan and I don't think he's too far away from being Clinton Portis at this point (as far as creating problems with the team). Carlos Rogers is way more trouble than he's worth. I really don't want to hear about he deserves a big contract for one very good 8 game stretch in his entire career.

The fact that Carlos should have seen this coming and prepared himself both mentally, physically and otherwise, demonstrates he's lost sight of the effort the league went through to prep players for just this ocasion. The fact is when Carlos is emotionally affected by anything he finds distasteful and feels the need to vent, he does it with the media of all people. When it's put in print it sometimes sounds worse than it does when it comes out of his mouth.

I agree long time because right now he sounds really stupid. Teams are going to do what's in the best interest of the team, not the player. Especially not a player who is a malcontent.

Carlos Rogers- malcontent, partier, sub-par play (even in a contract year), never lived up to draft status, crybaby, expects everything deserves nothing, trade bait= Tender

L. Alexander- hard worker, does what ever the coaches ask, philanthropist, never hurt, all around great guy, always at the park = contract extension

I've got an idea. How about instead of bitching about it, Carlos, bust your rear, go out and have a probowl season.

Then next year you can make enough money so your kids kids don't have to ever work again.

Oh no, i don't think he's PB level. I just meant that he should shut up, work hard, have the best season he can, then he can get compensated for it.

He's not a high caliber CB.

This is a good sign, Redskins fans. On a 4-12 team all of the players should be uncomfortable.

In New England the players are always uncomfortable, even after they win it all.

carlos is our best corner imo. he had a great year 2 years ago, this past year it seems no one was happy with what blache was doing.

carlos said all they did was man and never changed. you play enough man to man, any corner is going to get beat if the qb has time.

If Dunta Robinson signs with us, there's a good chance we'll get some offers for Rogers from teams who need a CB. There simply won't be anyone else out there worth looking at in the free agent market and it appears to be a very weak draft for CBs. I think if someone offers us a 4th, we'd take it.
