i love hip-hop but agree it has largely sucked for the last 10 years or so... (except for the Roots, Mos Def, OutKast, and a few others of course). it's devolved into pop/fashion/danceclub shit.

check out the music thread for some recommendations, but Them Crooked Vultures is a great new rock band.....
and of course all 3 of Jack White's bands are good.......

Re: F...Justin Bieber

I think music hit its peak in the 70's and 80's with regards to both pop and rock. I do like grunge, but it's overall theme seemed to be angst or life sucks compared to the rock rock til you drop and party all day of the hair bands. The 90's had some great bands like the Verve, Go Go Dolls, and the Foo Fighters later on, that had some really powerful songs. STP and Pearl Jam were fine in the beginning. Now we are forced to listen to crappy disposable pop like Lady Gaga and this kid. The music of America went to shit when it started to gear almost totally to kids by the mid to late 90's.

Well, he's a performer. Didn't realize there was an American prerequisite involved. Looks like they better boot Enrique too.

It makes more sense to have a guy that's a big hit with the Latin crowd in America helping pull the cultures together.. but a white teenager from Canada? Let's do Celine Dion and Bryan Adams too haha

At least it wasn't Toby Keith.. or was he there too?
The remedy for adolescence is a job. What's with the douche haircuts these days?
70's are making a comeback, for better or worse. Long shaggy hair along with abuse of the color brown, though I will admit that the second time around it's being used a little better on both counts. Still the 70's was the absolute worse decade in terms of style and taste. 60's, 80's, 90's, and 2000's were all much better.

Re: F...Justin Bieber

I havent been following this thread at all. Have you discussed any of this other stuff:

Justin Bieber has been target of a number of internet pranks in recent weeks.

Last month, a post on 4chan urged users to all search for the term "Justin Bieber Syphilis" pushing it to the top of Google Trend's Hot Searches list.

It is not known if Kim Jong-il is a fan of Justin Bieber's music And over the weekend, Justin Bieber videos on YouTube were the target for internet hackers, redirecting users to adult websites or triggering pop-up messages saying that the Canadian singer had died in a car crash.

Google temporarily suspended commenting on videos and issued a statement saying: "We took swift action to fix a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability." The vulnerability hole was patched a few hours later.

His Last FM page was also hit, with photos of the singer replaced by pornographic images.

There have also been false rumours circulating that Bieber had died, that he had joined a cult, and that his mother was offered $50,000 to pose topless in Playboy magazine.

"Let's take some time to answer some crazy (rumours)... I'm not dead," Bieber wrote in just one of his Twitter postings.

And last week he posted that "My mum is a moral woman... let's just leave that one for what it is... because that rumour just grossed and weirded me out."

Oh we don't "owe" it to them in tangible terms. They claim it.. ****ing pathetic. They receive aid as it is and it's their own damn fault that they're in the position that we're in. Sure there are times where countries are made to pay for the damage that they've caused.. but that's in the case of countries that went crazy and then lost a war a la Germany/WW2.
