I was against getting Bradford on the account of his being on a powerful team that to me, with the exception of a couple of games, played clearly inferior opponents most of the year in a conference not known for defense. THat being said, one thing other than arm strength that I want in a franchise guy for the SKins is a guy with a brain. Bradford scored a 36 on his Wonderlic test. Clausen only scored 23, and Tebow a 22. I would like to see what Stull and Kafka scored on theirs as both of their schools(Pitt and Northwestern) usually have some of the highest academic standards for athletes around.
For what it's worth, I think Dan Marino scored something like 15 on his Wonderlic. Just saying. |

You'd take him at number 4? |
Re: We should stay away from Bradford
If there's anything the draft has proven with 100% certainty is that it's all a crap shoot. Especially when it comes to quarterbacks and wide receivers in the first round.
If I'm the Skins, I take Okung and hope there's still some gem at QB in one of the later rounds. Your GM prowess isn't proven in the first and second rounds. It's proven, I would say, in rounds 3-7. Let's see what Allen and Co. really have. Play it safe, draft Okung and if Jason Campbell doesn't work out this year, at least you have a quality tackle going into his second year with the team. At least you have began the process of building a dominant offensive line.
I agree, I am warming on Bradford if we do in fact take him, But if I am GM our first two picks are OL. This is going to be a "buyers market" for QBs this draft. Over a dozen really good college QBs coming out. Stull, Crompton, Kafka, Brown, Locker, Snead, with many more that probably won't be drafted like Sheehan, and Elliot. WE can wait for a potential franchise QB I think, or even wait a year or two to see how Mallet develops at Arkansas. |

I doubt that. That is very low. He probably blew it off like Clausen and co. Shoot didn't JC get like 17. I think some of these guys just screw around with it. |
Re: We should stay away from Bradford
Yeah Marino got a 15
JC got a 23 NFL Quarterback Wonderlic scores |

See that's thing, we can "get by" with Campbell. But I don't think we can survive another year of mediocre, up and down, play on the offensive line regardless of who's playing QB. Another thing, with the tandem of a healthy Clinton Portis and Larry Johnson, you want to max out up front not knowing how much longer either will be with the Redskins. You have to give them the best opportunity to succeed. |

Relax bro he was just trying to show you the ropes. This time of year especially things can get a little cluttered up around here with multiple threads on the same topics. We're just trying to keep things organized. Try to understand if everyone who doesn't visit here often just pops in and posts what they want, regardless of what is already being discussed, the regulars here can get a little testy. It's all good, let's keep it classy. |

No, but I'd be tempted to trade down and take him. I was just responding to all the Wonderlic scores. Spiller got a 10. Jahvid Best got a 24. |

I found it noteworthy in one of your earlier posts you refered to Bradford as a potential FQB...potential...being the key word. I mention it because many times the term FQB is thrown around too losely when it pertains to collegiate QB's. FQB means accomplished, without accomplishment on the NFL level the title does not properly apply notwithstanding success on a lesser level. |

maybe it's just me but i believe the Redskins should draft a OT with the fourth pick because the OL class usually drops off after the first 2 rounds

Exactly. They need to use Rounds ONE AND TWO on tackles. |

Maybe it's the same reason Dwayne Jarrett gave for not attending the combine. Quote " I knew I was going Pro." |

Re: We should stay away from Bradford
Isn't this entire discussion somewhat moot. Every prognosticator on the air has St. Louis taking Bradford at 1. Is there any chance in hell that he would fall all the way to 4 with both St. Louis and Tampa in front of us? Doesn't seem likely to me. I think we'll get Okung at 4 and pick up McCoy at 36, with a draft day trade for a mid-2nd round pick to land another OT.
|
Re: We should stay away from Bradford
I agree, I rather draft an offensive lineman personally.

I was thinking like you but honestly why waste the 2nd pick on McCoy if you don't feel he is going to be something great. There is always next years can't miss batch of QB's coming out and I am pretty sure we will be drafting in the the top 10 again next year. |

Because I really think that Shanahan wants a young QB to push JC this year and see if he can perform. Brennan is not that young QB, and that leaves the draft. Plus the 2011 draft class for QBs isn't looking spectacular right now. Things obviously change and guys will emerge, but there isn't any real "can't miss" talent projected for the next draft. Then again, maybe someone will emerge as the next big thing.
