re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
How are we defining injury prone? Because I don't see Bradford as injury prone at all. He hurt his shoulder once and then decided to come back from the injury too soon. But he's had surgery on the shoulder and by all accounts he's recovered well from it, and I don't know of any other injuries for him
very good point. so right now, campbell is a failure/wannabe journeyman. he should print business cards.
Exactly. And the best way to improve the team would be to dump JC and draft Tebow... :vomit: |

tebow is going in the first round...book it...you don't get invited unless you aren't.

I hope you are right, that increases the chance that we get a steal with our second pick. |

That's not true

re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
tebow with our high 2nd rounder? really? i'd rather be the team that gets him 4-5 years from now instead of the one to invest a draft pick, time and resources trying to develop him.
i wouldnt pick him until the 5th round if at all.
thank you, we need to fill holes. And like Mike Mayock said 2nd round QB's usually never workout. I'd say build the line and let JC and Rexy battle it out this year, shit with everyone after QB's this year we could get Locker or Mallett next year and just build that New York Jet type of O line this year.. |

agreed. we really need our second round pick to be a beast, not having a third and all. |

That used to be true. Now they are inviting folks for at least both Thursday and Friday nights and my understanding is that T-bone got a Friday invite. |

Right they doubled the invite list. But I think Tebow actually gets the option of what night he'd like to attend. I suspect he'll be strongly encouraged to be there on Friday night |

Re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I really think the most likely scenario is Okung at #4 and a QB in the 2nd round, so it's natural that the Skins are doing their homework on Tebow. Still don't think we would take him, but it doesn't hurt to work him out.
IF the guy has to work on his mechanics I say let it go. IF we need a good QB most of the pack are seen as low rounders. I still don't see why a lot of guys think the QB pickings is really slim. There are at least 16 decent QBs from major Div IA programs coming out, most with some potential at becoming good pros. The top guys are from the biggest programs with the most national exposure. I don't see how that should automatically put one as being a franchise guy and the other a goat. At least a few of the others(non hyped QBs) that are coming out can be starters. I mean look at the overall QB picture in the NFL. Would you want Dan Lefevour your QB or Russell? Delhomme or Stull? Anderson or Snead? All 3 of these college guys have the potential to be better than at least half the starting NFL QBs of 2009. My stock on Bradford is rising, but you still have to wonder how much of his success was him being a Sooner in a conference not known for its defensive work. Same goes for Tebow. |

That's just awkward. What if a guy gets invited, chooses Friday, then gets drafted on Thursday (like if Jacksonville takes Tebow in the 1st round and he's at his hotel room in NYC)? Or vice versa? Unless I was a lock to be a top 20 pick, I'd decline and stay at home. It was so uncomfortable watching Aaron Rogers and Brady Quinn sit there alone just waiting to be picked. Who wants to take a chance at that embarrassment? I personally like the way Joe Thomas did it. He was a top 5 pick, and instead of going to NYC to mingle with all the media and other BS, he went fishing with his Dad on draft day. I'd rather be on my couch surrounded by trusted and loved people. Eff the limelight. |

Re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I'm against taking a QB in the first. With that said, it's not going to kill me either if Shann-a-Allen picks one of these guys. With the way things are going in this rebuilding process, I'm prepared to tough out a season or two before I'm ready to judge the final product. I'm equally confident that Shann-a-Allen are more than competent enough to do the job.

Re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
Drafting Tebow means more years of misery with a shitty QB! I think Shanny is smarter than that.

Re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
As does not drafting lineman or receivers to support the next quarterback.

Re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
Why bother? Bradford will be gone and the Skins have little to nothing to give to trade up. I thought the Skins were done with foolish moves. OT ALL THE WAY

There is an article on ESPN's homepage saying that Tebow is becoming the Skin's back up plan but unfortunately it is only for insiders.
Can any one share it with us? |
What access does ESPN have? They are always bashing Snyder.
I am going to be pissed if we end up with friggen' Tebow.
Here's the text from that article:
With the speculation that the Rams might be taking Sam Bradford No. 1 overall in April, the other team that thinks quite highly of him risks missing out. We've been hearing for a while now that the Redskins value Bradford as a potential franchise quarterback, and that he would not get past their spot in the first round if he lasted that far. So what happens if the Skins are faced with a draft board with Bradford's name crossed off? It could come down to Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen versus Oklahoma State OT Russell Okung. Below, ESPN NFC East blogger Matt Mosley weighs the options. UPDATE: The Redskins may be developing their backup plan if Bradford is off the board (as expected) by the time they pick at No. 4. Coach Mike Shanahan and GM Bruce Allen are part of a team that is scheduled to visit with Tim Tebow in Gainesville, presumably to decide whether they want to pick him in April's draft (possibly in the second round) in the event they draft neither Bradford nor Clausen. If they were to take Tebow, he'd become the second former Gators quarterback on the roster behind Rex Grossman (and we thought the Steve Spurrier era was over in Washington). Matt Mosley Will the Skins go conservative? "Taking Clausen in the first round might be the most exciting move the Redskins could make, but acquiring a cornerstone of the offensive line will provide a better foundation."
Don't see anything about bashing Snyder in here...Mosely makes an argument for Okung I see. |

It confirms what I thought, that Mosely doesn't know any more than you or I on this subject. That essentially he isn't providing any information that you couldn't get by logging onto Redskins Insider. Everybody knows that the decision would be between Clausen and a tackle. He offered his opinion, it isn't like he said the team is leaning towards one or the other. The part about Tebow is somewhat interesting but I highly doubt our second pick is used on him. |

Clausen!!!

Re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
You make a good point. It seems likely that some players may be traded, possibly for draft picks. If the Skins acquire more draft picks, then I think that taking Tebow with a high second round pick as a developmental QB would be more palatable for most fans.
A second round pick is needed for the O line. If you are going to draft a developmental QB get Stull, Lefevour, or somebody else in the lower rounds. I don't see how all of a sudden Tebow has found "the right" mechanics in less than 3 months. I still think these hot QBs on the market will bust for the most part like the Carr, Harrington, Ramsey year of the QBs. All, but Clausen played on totally stacked teams. The overhyped guys rarely pan out anymore. |
Re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
Count me in on Tebow bandwagon. If he has a chance to be successful everywhere it's with Shanahan and the emphasis on the run. He's also not nearly as bad of a passer as everyone has been making him out to be lately. In watching this video I was not only impressed with is arm strength but also how quickly he gets the ball out of his hands, if he's improved that recently then all the more impressive. I personally love the guy and would love it even more to see him be successful here.

all things being equal, I would agree. But there's a lot of homework that shanny et al are doing now that will change a lot by draft day. Look at it another way, assume Shanahan absolutely wants a new qb, but rather than take the high risk pick w/#4, he instead goes for a lower risk pick in the 2nd round. If he & the scouts like Tebow enough to take him in the 2nd, I'm all for it. I think the guy's a winner & is making teams think awfully hard about passing (on pun intended) on him. |
Re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I don't mind Tebow! But not...Repeat not with our first two picks. If Shanny and Allen move into the third and forgo later picks for this year I would be okay with it (a little) if they think Tebow has what it takes to start or try to start in 2-3 years!
I would love to get more picks... any trade down scenarios around for our number 4 Pick? I know with Bradford going #1 this would decrease our chances of trading down due to less partners. If we got more picks than by all means get Tebow with the added picks! Maybe late 2nd or early 3rd! |
