Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
If you honestly felt that we were one chess piece away from having a super bowl contender, then I would maybe consider picking up TO.
The problem is we are SOOO far away from being a contender at this point, why bother with an over the hill attitude problem like TO. If you look at our current receivers, there is a lot of young up-and-coming talent there in Mitchell, Thomas, and Kelly. Receiver is not our biggest issue IMO, and wasting the time and energy in managing a known locker room cancer like TO is the LAST thing this team needs to distract it. Boswell said it well in his piece from the Post yesterday, the skins finally have a qb that will allow them to evaluate their receiver talent. We'll know quickly if we have play-makers or bums when #5 tattoo's their chest 30 yards down field. At least wait for a couple of mini-camps to let the coaching staff make their evaluations before going him. |
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
Ive been pulling for the Skins to go after T.O. or Brandon Marshall since our season ended. ONE MORE STUD WR and some additions to our O-line and our offense is SET.
Nah...TO here means less playing time for our young WRs. I want to see what DT can do.
Yeah, but at the same time we still need depth at the WR position. We still need to fill Randel Els spot. The NFL season is long for the players that participate in. Plus, having TO (or any other stud WR) will force teams to focus on them and open up more opportunities for our up in coming WRs. Let them get some big passes, make plays, get their swagger up. DT and MK will be seeing significant playing time regardless. |

Look at game 11 in 2009. He had 9 rec. for 197 yrds. Besides that game his highest total rec. was not more than 5 rec. and much less than that in most games. In fact he had 10 games with fewer than 4 rec. I guess it comes down to personal perspective. But I would be willing to bet that a Mcnabb/T.O. combo would produce HUGE Stats. Question is, Like Matty stated earlier, "would Mcnabb want to go down that road again?" |

Yes I was. He had a few games in a row with under 40 yards and then he busts out 213 yards against a San Francisco team that gave him a free release throughout the whole game because Singletary believed they could stop him for whatever reason and 100+ yards that blowout LOSS to Philly. Shawn Springs basically handed folks the gameplan to limit him that year and beyond. Jam him at the line and he isn't going to always beat it anymore. He also had averaged 73+ yards a game or more every season from 2000 to 2007, sometimes much more. The 65.3 in 2008 is a significant decline. |

I would take him if:

Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
Well, if its an arguement about T.O., here is my view -
He is heads and shoulders better than any receiver on this roster, bar none. We can get him for 0 players, and for 0 draft pix, and would instantly give us a top tier wideout and a nice weapon to pair up with Thomas and Cooley. If we get the Tackles taken care of, I can see us becoming the Philly of a couple years back. Great team, but no premium wideouts to toss the rock to. (I dunno about 6 mil a year tho, slim that down to 3 1/2 - 4) He Still can produce, and is a freakish physical specimen. 3 year deal wouldn't be unheard of, with plenty of stipulations and stock full of unguaranteed $$$ based on perforance on and off the field. I think he wants to destroy the stigma he has given himself. He is nearing the end of his career, and wants to be remembered as a great wide out, and possibly a champion. If there is any ex cowboy i'd sign, it would be T.O. With Donovans blessing. If he thinks it will be a bad situation, then pass. |
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
No way in hell do we bring Owens in. I don't care if McNabb & Owens are playing pick-up B-ball on Pros vs. Joes or not.
Does anyone remember this: McNabb: T.O. situation was about money, power - NFL - ESPN This is some very deep stuff, stuff that doesn't go away. Fitzpatrick is the dude you're talking about and Russell and Anderson are FAR, FAR worse. Suddenly, he became just a little more stoppable. And TO is ALWAYS a model teammate year 1. It's year two or three when the blowups occur. |

Those teams came out of no where. People saying we are so far away, but this is not the 2009 Skins. This is a new squad. We now have an OFFICIAL coach. Totally new coaching staff. We now have an OFFICIAL QB. That is HUGE..... Most of the time, we were losing because of the coaching and QB. Not to mention that garbage ass oline. And we are about to start getting this oline tighted up soon. Not saying that the oline is going to be #1 in the league, but I have a feeling our oline is going to be significantly better this year after we are all said done acquiring talent. We have two new backs, and people can talk about how old they are or whatever, but I think it is safe to say that LJ, WP and CP (if he is here) will be light years better then what we had for the last few seasons (if not further back). Im not trying to serve kool aid, but you also have to remember that we didnt exactly get blown out every game that we lost last year neither. Our biggest problem last year was our oline and offense in general. And we are significantly addressing those areas right now. The funny thing is that our defense held it down for us for the most part last year. They werent perfect, but they always kept us in the game. Our offense was just so horrible, they couldnt single handedly win the games. And now we are trying to f--- that up by partially converting to the 3-4. We should leave it alone. Add some aggressiveness to the playcalling, get some LBs so Orakpo can can move to the DE position for good. Throw him in at LB from time to time so confuse the offense a little bit. Thats it, we dont need to give the defense a complete face lift. |
