say we land anthony davis instead? does anybody really know how much better an okung or williams would be than davis? or say a brown from USC? I don't know.
Davis has legit multiple red flags. Show me a team that even considers drafting players with red flags except a very rare exception and I will show you the worst ten franchises in the NFL over the last twenty years. Brown's talent projection is supect. That's a different guessing game. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I agree on drafting Okung, but I am very concerned that Detroit takes him.
Suh does have an injury history, and Defensive Tackles have a high bust rate. They really need a stud LT to protect their expensive QB, and Bachus is not the answer. They won't get a starter in round 2. In my opinion, it's 60-40 the Lions take Okung.
Bachus is their answer this year, and they will probably take a project in the 2nd Round. I still expect them to take DT McCoy over Suh, for several reasons, and I would (gasp) agree with internetcareer that there is no chance that Detroit takes Okung over either DT. They got the guard from Seattle to strengthen the interior of the line -which was more troublesome for them last year- and Bachus hasn't missed many, if any, games in his career. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Bradford goes to the Rams, Okung to the Lions and the Skins trade down for more picks, not necessarily in that order......Stay tuned. News at 11 :cool-smil
in regards to okung going to the lions...do you guys feel that would benefit us in terms of trading back?
If it were to happen, I would think it could help us, but then again, Orakpo fell to 13 because people looked for other areas, Suh could see the same thing happen. |

huh? who does tampa bay take? who trades with us to move up? who are they trading up to take? this comment alone is worthless. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I don't think there are any realistic trade down opportunities available. Teams will usually only trade into the top 5 for a QB, and this is not a good year for top QBs. Bradford should go 1, and Claussen should be around until at least 8.
I believe we are stuck with the #4 pick regardless of who is on the board. I just hope we get Okung; I hope he is there, and we draft him. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Some morons ruining their draft stock:
NEW YORK (AP) -- FoxSports.com is reporting Southern California tight end Anthony McCoy tested positive for marijuana at the scouting combine. FoxSports.com cited unidentified sources and reported Sunday night that Priority Sports and Entertainment, which represents McCoy, made every NFL team aware of the failed test result about two weeks ago. McCoy is considered a possible second- or third-round pick in this week's draft. FoxSports.com also reported Georgia Tech running back Jonathan Dwyer tested positive at the combine for amphetamines because he was taking prescription medication. A person familiar with Dwyer's test told the AP the result was not a surprise and teams knew Dwyer was taking medication that would trigger a positive for amphetamines. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because results of the test were not supposed to be made public. Dwyer is projected to be drafted in the first two rounds.
|

You have one guy guranteed to go in the top 5 (Ryan/Bradford), one mid round guy (Flacco/Clausen), 2 second rounders (Brohm-Henne/Tebow-McCoy), and a lot of developmental guys after. 2009 was actually pretty bad for QB's after Stafford, Freeman, and Sanchez. Pat White was the next QB selected and that was as a Wildcat QB. After that the Cowboys selected some random guy from Texas A&M in the fourth round. |

I think that Okung is the only solid LT prospect in the draft. In my opinion, Bulaga and Williams are better suited to RT. Brown, Davis, and Campbell have high risk. After Okung, who I believe is head n shoulders above everyone else in this draft class, I think Rodger Saffold has a better chance to be a quality starting LT then the rest. Okung is the only plug n play Left Tackle in this draft, and the only lineman worth a top 10 pick, IMO. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Bruce Campbell has the Raiders written all over him.

@Doug_Farrar: /head asplodes RT @dcsportsbog On Baltimore radio, Vinny Cerrato makes fun of Ditka for trading his draft picks away. Doug_Farrar /head reassembled, asplodes again. RT @dcsportsbog Cerrato just called Trent Williams an underachiever. |

I don't think Jonathon Dwyer's draft stock is gonna slip. It said in a different article that he's been taking those meds for a long time and pretty much all 32 teams knew he would test positive because of it. If it's something that he has to take in order to maintain being healthy it's probably no big deal. EDIT: here's the link. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets' Jonathan Dwyer tests positive at combine - ESPN He's been taking those meds since 5 because of his ADD, and the NFL knew about it before the combine, and it also falls under their "medical exemption" category because of it. But Anthony McCoy's just an idiot :) |

I wouldn't think so either, but did anyone think Orakpo would be at 13? Some non qb will slide way down, it will be interesting to see who. |

On a side note Mel and McShay were going at it today again about Clausen, McShay said Clausen falls out of the top ten, Kiper said no way. I'm betting with Kiper on that one. |

Orakpo wasn't projected as a possible 1st and near lock for 2nd or 3rd though |

I knew about the Jackson talk but thought it was bull, so I "dropped" him to the Broncos at 12. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I wonder how far the Stanford running back Toby Gerhart is going to fall. Is he too much of a power back for Shannys system? If not would he be worth a 3rd on down if we happened to come up with a 3rd round pick?
|
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
ESPN Insider is reporting that if the Lions take Okung tomorrow at #2 then Haynesworth will be dealt to Detroit for their 3rd (#66) in this draft. Also, the Redskins are close to shipping McIntosh away for a 5th rounder. Just what was reported via Matt Mosley and Ross Tucker.
|
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Just a third would be too low for Haynesworth. They would need to add a pick or two to it this year or next year. Why give them a prize for taking our Tackle. Mcintosh will never get us what he is worth to us. I say keep him. Lets keep dealing with ST Louis.
|
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
A question: Let's say we are in the 2nd round, and the Saints offer to do some trade for Brown. IF it includes Rocky, do we have to get him to sign his tender before we could make that trade? or do we hold his rights for trade purposes without him signing. I just wonder how that works within the time constraints of the draft?

I just don't get it. A DL was traded about 2-3 weeks ago for a 2nd round draft pick. Many said he is no where near as good as AH. So logically that screams 1st rounder for AH. Now were talking settling for a 3rd rounder? screw that. keep AH and put him to work for his money. He doesn't work he doesn't get paid. Let the NFLPA fight that battle. |

I thought someone said players have up till a certain date to sign them or teams to trade for them. Otherwise they are automatically set at the tender price. They do get a chance later after the draft to again be traded or some crap like that. |

If the Skins do that then that shows me just how much of a stubborn hard-ass Shanahan must be. A third round pick for Haynesworth is not nearly enough. |

What about a 3rd this year and Detroit's 1st next year, for AH and our 4th? |

Not following the logic here. If they take Okung, what does that have to do with Haynesworth? |

Detroit needs an OT and a DT. If they take Okung, then they won't be able to draft Suh. Haynesworth fills the need at DT. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I wouldn't read too much into the trades for Haynesworth...Shanny is smart, he may not want a cancer on his team but he is going to either keep Haynesworth and make him play NT b/c if nothing else AH's stock is going to fall if he keeps up his bitching and he'll realize that a better contract will not be forthcoming. And if a trade does happen, I would not accept anything less than a 1st rounder or multiple 2nds.
I still think some kind of package to send AH to New Orleans for Brown would be the best straight up deal. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
If we trade AH for a 3rd rounder we will be called the Ass-skins! & we will probably deserve the name IMO. DON'T TRADE AH, DON'T TRADE AH.
|
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I don't like AH for a 3rd period. That is terrible compensation. Not even worth the time and a slap in the face to the FO for offering such a low pick for the best DT in the game.
I can say honestly that I don't agree with the FO to make this pick. |

I'm not saying he's a saint, but some people are being over dramatic about it. |
