Lendale White is the next Jerome Bettis.
|
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Rounds 4-7
Garbage pick. Projected to play inside (dunno how since he's undersized for a 3-4 as well). Unless we r trading mcintosh within the next few picks then this is a garbage pick with Bruce Campbell and Cam Thomas on the board

Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Rounds 4-7
i love how everyone on here thinks bruce campbell is such an amazing prospect. the guy is yet another project lineman from md. how well has that worked out for us?
|
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Rounds 4-7

good point. i mean, if you are a lineman from maryland, you will suck. i think we all forgot lineman rule 38. thanks for the reminder. |

Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Rounds 4-7
so now, after waiting all day yesterday, we get Riley, and now we wait again. Got it.

Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Rounds 4-7
I watch ACC football like it is my life. (Go Hokies) However everyone is on Bruce Campbell's balls and he isn't that great. He had a stud workout at the combine but has horrible game film. He is garbage. I don't understand the Riley pick to much but they have a plan and we need depth. I can't say I hate it.

the point is, in the 4th round, does he have the tools to play? is he better than the other players available at his position? |

no, now we can speculate about fat al :) |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Rounds 4-7
I'm surprised & disappointed that we didn't take B. Campbell. I'm surprised that he fell that far. I know people had questions about his performance. Maybe his combine performance actually worked against him? Teams might've dubbed him a workout warrior.

Yea La Caforna should start reporting that we are shopping AH for a 7th pretty soon. |
i love how everyone on here thinks bruce campbell is such an amazing prospect. the guy is yet another project lineman from md. how well has that worked out for us?
To be fair, all of the UMD linemen that we've had over the past few seasons have been undrafted, so there is a big difference.
*Full disclosure - I'm a big Terps fan with season tickets. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Rounds 4-7
I actually would have drafted Capers before Campbell, anyway.

the point is he fell for a reason, he is gifted yeah, but he played like absoluyte shit last year he has awful game film and i don't want a project guy after we got a somewhat project guy in the first. they are both in the same physically gifted but underperforming boat. rocky will be gone soon and we need a replacemnet hopefully he fits the last thing i wanted to see was another whole in our oline waering number 74 from md |

I agree....Project would be the correct way to describe him. He has some ability but needs work. Shanahan loves to run the ball and at this point in Williams' development he's not the best of drive blockers from the R/T position. Would be a good developmental player. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Rounds 4-7
Im really hoping we can get AT LEAST a 5th rounder for JC...

I'm reading some good things on Riley. He gives some flexibility, projecting inside or outside.
|
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Rounds 4-7
i love all the hate for riley ten minutes after we get him so many haters, they obviously see somthing in the kid atleast wait until preseason to bash him

Yes, and he seems like an all-around three down player: good against the run, good in zone coverage, and a decent pass rusher. |

at that point, keep him. mcnabb, campbell, grossman makes for solid qb depth |

Jason is going to be on our roster next year.
i love how everyone on here thinks bruce campbell is such an amazing prospect. the guy is yet another project lineman from md. how well has that worked out for us?
The difference is that Campbell has first round speed/agility/athletic ability. You can't coach that, you're born with it. Speaking of project O-linemen, one with adequate size and off the charts athletic ability (Campbell) has a far greater chance to be an impact player than a guy with just size and average athletic ability (Heyer).
Perry Riley will probably be HB Blades - decent backup but lacking as a starter. We had a chance to nail bookend OTs for the next 5+ years ... We blew this one. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Rounds 4-7
so. Jaguars got morrison and oaklands 5th round pick for their 4th rounder.
Ok, i wouldn't have minded us making that deal... |

There's a reason Campbell dropped so far. Workout warrior, slighty above average college tackle. Kiper said it will probably be a few years before he has any kind of impact for the Raiders. I'm not saying he won't be a decent player, but to say he would have stepped in right away to give us that "book end" is a stetch IMO. |

Maybe it will pan out, but just having the ability doesn't make someone a first rounder, in fact I would think just the opposite, if he has all the ability in the world, and can't get it right in college, the chance of "getting it right" in the NFL is less likely. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Rounds 4-7
I'm not a huge fan of the Perry Riley pick. We needed an ILB, but I think Riley was a big reach and he probably would've still been available at 163. I think there was too much quality still left on the board for us to reach with Riley.

My choice of words was poor, saying he could have given us bookend OT's for the NEXT 5+ years. I should have said 5+ years once he established himself. Perhaps the Riley pick is intended to light a fire under Rocky. Competition is always a good thing.
