Re: Campbell A Raider
Is anyone on the same page with the details of this trade? Is it a conditional 2011 pick or 2012 4th rounder?

What did those 3 picks we gave up to get Campbell amount to?

Word. Personally I expect 2012 to be our last year on earth which is hardly enough time to develop a 4th rd player. |
He's doomed. No O-Line, no recievers. It's a QB's dream.
What do you mean no receivers? How you could you forget Darius Heyward Bey? That kid is on the brink of super-stardom;) |

LOL... Yeah I'm real disappointed that its not an immediate addition. But it puts things in perfect perspective regarding JC's value. To keep the peace I'll leave it at that. |

Lol yeah, maybe in the olympics. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
2011 4th round pick, I love it. It was this or he would get released. Now we just cross our fingers that a) He doesn't out perform Donovan and b) our 4th round pick next year somehow manages to give us extreme depth at a position.
|
Re: Campbell A Raider
i am good with the compensation, why does it matter that the pick is down the road? a pick is a pick.
i genuinely hope he goes on a plays well in oakland. good luck JC, you seem to be a good dude. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
Oh correction a 2012 4th round pick.. Odd?
|
Re: Campbell A Raider
Hope Jason has a good ride in Oakland, at least it is warmer than Buffalo.
Still not psyched about Grossman being a backup though. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
Just finished watching the phone interview with JC on NFLN, and he said that he's coming in as the starter? If so, good for him. Davis must really like him.
|
Re: Campbell A Raider
I kind of feel like I lost a family member, I liked the guy, was he the best ever or even good enough probably not but in a world of Big Ben's you just wish a guy like this could have been the answer.
Good luck Soup you will be missed! |

It seems like he's going to get that chance. All of the QB's that could have been a real threat to Colt making the team seem to have been drafted. |

well the mayans did not predict the end of the world, just the end of the world as we know it, so perhaps they knew that the Redskins would finally end these losing years and finally get back to winning in 2012.:silly: |

Actually never mind. Tony Pike is still out there. I actually feel kind of good about that. I personally didn't see much in him outside of his height and it seems like the scouts agree with me. |

Re: Campbell A Raider
so, how does everyone feel about the compensation? A 2012 4th = a 2011 5th = a 2011 6th. so, i'm pretty happy. it'll most definitely be a top 100 pick. :-)
i'm with you, i wasn't the biggest jc fan but he had a raw deal here and after last off season i was in his corner and wish him all the best
Raw deal? So now we say when a guy gets paid over 11 million if he is not treated like the best QB in the world he gets a raw deal. Hell it was the Skins and Gibbs that gave JC a chance and he should be greatful that we did. He had every chance in the world to show he was a starting QB but he failed in my book. Now because we have let him go he gets another two year deal worth around 8 million. So now he could fail there and when it all said and done earned 18 million in 7 years. Raw deal my ass. |

My money would be on Grossman but remember Grossman got hurt in camp last year and didn't show up until the last preseason game. Colt at least made it through most of the preseason. The thing that matters is that theres going to be a competition and the best player will get that backup spot behind McNabb. I'm just interested in seeing how Colt does in this system. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
Colt as backup is probable in the next two years anyway. The thing is if we draft a QB late this year or somehow go after Mallet or Keenum next year, then who knows. I don't see Brennan being here once Donovan goes though.

Re: Campbell A Raider
What did those 3 picks we gave up to get Campbell amount to?
I can tell you one thing those picks gave us, which will forever be overlooked. They gave us a class act at the QB position at a time when we had a terrible tragedy with Sean Taylor, followed by years of upheaval and a terrible FO. Many qb's would have failed the team or bailed or like Cutler, whined like a little baby. JC acted like the consummate professional, and did his best, which in the end let the focus be on the awful FO and HC, which in turn forced DS to recognize the need for a new plan. That gave us MS and BA. And Optimism for the future. Good luck JC, it was trial by fire here, but I wish you the best going forward. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
Looks like the Raider nation is accepting JC with ecstatic open arms. They're acting like they just got Dan Marino.

Re: Campbell A Raider
I'll be rooting for Jason and hope he becomes a winner with the Raiders...until they play the Redskins! BTW, the Redskins took the deal and the low choices as a favor to JC.

Jason, welcome to the SF Bay area I hope you succeed.

These are my exact sentiments. I called into B.Mitch's show about two or three weeks ago, they were dedicating an hour talking about Jason Campbell. It was the weekend of of the McNabb trade, whenever that was. Anyway, me and BMitch sort of got into it about how Jason was "treated" and how he got a raw deal. He was going on and on trying to talk me down, you know. The other guy on the show was a prick too. I basically said the same thing you just said, when the Redskins drafted Campbell in the first round, he got his shot. Sure the conditions weren't always perfect here, but God damn son welcome to the NFL! It was funny, they were still talking trash after I hung up. It was a good exchange no doubt. I wish the Campbell the best and I hope he lights it up in Oakland. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
The results of Jason's career thus far has been one of a kind. Hope he finds success out west. Good luck Jason, there are some people here in DC that will miss you.
|
Re: Campbell A Raider
As far as why '12, I think Mooby nailed it. This was about a possible lockout in the future and the Redskins didn't want to box themselves in with so much uncertainty regarding the future of the CBA.
Look, what got what we got for the guy and it's time to move on. The market was all around unkind to a lot of guys this year, not just Jason. Ask Jimmy Clausen and Colt McCoy. |
Re: Jason Campbell traded to Raiders
Rich Gannon did very well with the Raiders, but of course he was a different kind of QB. Rich played for the Redskins, but couldn't do anything because he played with a very bad offensive line. I was surprised when he became an all-pro with the Raiders. Maybe the same thing will happen to JC.
