Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
I would keep the bigger Galloway over Austin. We need tall bodies at WR. Austin has that great speedburst, but is undersized. Galloway is 38, but can contribute, not sure Austin can. Special teams maybe, but if we lose Kelly, we need to keep a tall WR.

Well I guess you need to rethink that they are both 5'11". Other than Shay, Kelly and Thomas the rest of the WR core is 6' or less. Nice to have one big go to target that is reliable, but I don't but much weight on this issue. I put more weight on having a talented group that understands the offense, can run a precise route and make the catch consistently. |

they're both 5'11" Galloway contribs for a year or two and doesn't return.. Austin not really known for speed either.. maybe you got fed some bad info or are mixing players up |

Galloway contribs for a year or two and doesn't return.. Austin not really known for speed either.. maybe you got fed some bad info or are mixing players up
I think if you really want to consider a reciever tall you have to look for guys that are 6'4 and up. Thats the type of height that will really give a guy a true advantage on jump balls 6'1/6'2 seems to be average these days. Still, did you mix up Terrance Austin with Armstrong because Austin ran a 4.38 40? [YT]c_EPhasjfng[/YT] 0:09 |
Any word on Vincent Jackson? Can we somehow get him to D.C?
Found this this morning on redskins.com from the practice report for today. "— POSTED Aug. 2, 2010 8:37am NEWS: Hello everyone, just talked to my bro and he told me the coaching staff and the front office had a meeting late last night under the radar and are discussing moving on without Kelly and are exploring the possibility of a trade very soon which involves draft picks and a player....My bro told me that they would not use names in the meeting and just referred to the player as the "targeted guy"......We all know it is VJ, but until they booted out all the PR and office staff im sure they wont name names as not to get the media going........Mcnabb was present at the down low meeting but when my bro asked him if he was there to discuss the VJ trade rumors he smiled and told my bro.....No comment, they just needed his imput on some current players and he is not worried about guys not in a Redskins jersey......Thanks again bro, enjoy ya day off!" |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
At this point, I'm pretty sure Kelly is done. I mean I really wanted him to be successful, but he can't get on the feild. Its time to move on.
Without going overboard, we need to do what we can to get Vincent Jackson in a Redskins uniform. What do you think this might take? |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
Well, I wonder what we are giving up for VJ. Kelly, and 2 second rounders seems appropriate, but I am sure the chargers will want a first. So a second next year, and a first in 2012.

First official depth chart released
A few observations
Depth Chart - Washington Redskins - Ryan Torrain is the third string running back over Willie Parker - Colt Brenanz r gones wen did dis hapens? - Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly are both with the third team. Armstrong and Williams are rightfully on the second team. - Terrance Austin is a fourth team receiver and second team receiver. Hoping that I can say it's still early. It would be nice to have another 7th round surprise from UCLA. - Justin Tryon is listed as the absolute last corner on the team behind the likes of Byron Westbrook and Ramirez Robinson. - Jeremy Jarmon seems like the only third string DL that will make the team. - SS33 was right. Cook and Capers are currently with the third team. Looks like they'll be on the practice squad this year. For some reason I feel like Robinson will make the team over Heyer - Practice squad right now looks like it could easily be Cook, Capers, Austin, Morris, Paulson, and Hodge. - By the way Dennis Morris isn't even on the depth chart, wtf? |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
I was suprised to see Riley so high on the derth chart. Especialy, since we have not heard his name yet.

Shanahan has already hinted at carrying just 2 QB's already and Beck is and will not be ready. Risky? Absolutely which is why Beck will remain on practice squad. But this also allows Shanny to carry that 4th RB or 6th WR,which I believe he will do. Remember, banks has been behind Center as well although in just wildcat formations,so if worst comes to worst and we have another body bag game and mcnabb and Rex go down...we're probably screwed anyways, but banks can probably run certain parts of the offense to finish the game. (Much like Brian Mitchell used to do for us) Shanny will want 4 RB's..not 3. He lost like 3 RB's in Denver in a weeks time do to injury and his running game is his bread and butter...He's not just having 3 RB's on the active roster. The only question is..will it be K.Williams or fast willie? The other 3 are locks imo...Portis and Johnson are 2-time probowlers and he loves Torain. but can K.Williams be out the 1-time aged pro bowler in Parker? We'll carry 3 TE's if for no other reason because of the Tiger formation we will be using. (2-TE's in the game at the same time.) Kind of hard to run that if you have nobody on the bench to spell cooley or davis at times during the game if only for a breather. As much crap we give Sellers every year, the guy plays hard and goes all out. Not to mention everytime I watch the kickoff coverage and see the same guy EVERYTIME smashing the ball carrier into the ground. And who is it almost 90% of the time making that smashing blow...It's Mike sellers. he isn't going anywhere although 35. I don't think there's a necessity to carry 2 FB's when both Cooley and Davis can run the FB position if only for 1 game. Which is why Dennis Morris and Darryl Young are on my practice squad. Morris can dbl as TE as well. We will have 6 WR's on this team. Moss,Galloway and Thomas are locks! I think Bobby wade makes this team and I think Roydel does as well. The question will be that final 6th spot and i think Banks gets it because of his game changing explosiveness. (And as emergency QB as well) I do see T.Austin and Armstrong making the practice squad as well. Only changes I made to the OP's O-line was Montgomery for Cook at Center and heyer making the team. He did a very commendable job at RT filling in for J.Brown. That will NOT go unnoticed. imo...(Plus he played LT as well last season) D-line looks about right carrying 7. I think LB's we will only carry 8. Tryon sucks and will not make team...Book it! We will carry D-backs listed. and then ST's llisted... |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
i think edwin williams makes the team on the o-line. can play guard and center, doc walker has high opinion of him.
|
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
I am going to say that Armstrong WR, E. Williams, and W. Robinson are locks right now. Only way they dont make it is if they stink up the joint from here on out. Infact, throw Lichtensteiger in there as well.

Moore will be on injured list for first Six weeks. |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
Moore cannot be on the PUP list as he started camp healthy and on roster. We have discussed this when it came to puttin Kelly there as well.
If a player open training camp healthy and on the team then he cannot be placed on the injured unable to perform list also known as PUP. Both Kelly and Moore will have to take up roster spots if they are not released. Moore is not going anywhere but I would not be so sure about Kelly at this point in time. |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
I'm hoping...our final roster looks a lot like what dirtbag has...
The only thing about his roster that he has I'm not crazy about is..... I cannot stand Tryon at all. But I also haven't been paying much attention on him either...too many new faces to evaluate for me. Has he been playing well? If it's the new and improved tryom, than I'm cool. If it's the guy in our secondary that wears a redskins jersey with "burn me" written all over it...get him outta there. Hopefully I'm wrong on that. But my god..I'd rather kelly be our 7th WR on the sidelines never Playing than Tryon on the field. and what about that new D-back vet we sign...spencer I believe? I know he's made a few tackles. could he be a possibility? Other than that..very good roster dirtbag..and I hope the real one mirror's the one you have bud! |

From what I have seen he has played well ever since. |
Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version
A lot of people have Sean Ryan making the roster at TE. I think he's on Tennessee's roster right now, so that would be quite the prediction if it came true.

Yeah well I made my predictions in April and I've chosen not to change my predictions since then. Also stupid Byron Westbrook looks like he'll make the team again cause of his special teams. Just can't get rid of this guy. Torain is the man, if we let him go we'll miss him like we all miss Chase And I'm sure others have called him ATV before me. It's not so original like Pineapple Jesus, but Ill gladly take the credit |

Keiland Williams will edge out Torain although I see your logic with PSing the rookie. Beck is on the active roster. I like your call on FB Young. He's a football player. Good call on Galloway. He'll be a phone call away but, can this young WR corps survive w/o another vet? Roydell Williams hasn't done anything to hurt his chances of making the team. Banks, on the other hand, should not make the team. Maybe there's a PR/KR guy that the 'Skins will sign off the streets or another team's practice squad. Maybe Thomas fits the bill. I just don't think Banks has the physique or WR skills to hold down a roster spot. I know Austin makes the first cut, the second cut, I'm not so sure. He has PS written all over him and it will surely be beneficial. I'd like to see him and Thomas more in the return game. He may be the next Armstrong. Speaking of Armstrong, I cannot recall another fringe player with so much potential. He doesn't have the size of man-crushes Marko Mitchell, the speed of Anthony Alridge, or inflated college stats of Pineapple Je5us. He's a bonafide gamer and I'd be shocked if he doesn't start alongside Moss! Great prediction with trading Kelly to STL especially that Donnie Avery is done for the season. I agree with you on the TEs and OLs. Will the team carry 3 or 4 OTs? Having only 3 legitimate OTs worries me, especially when none of the Gs we have can swing that position effectively. Your predictions on the DL looks good too. Regarding the LBs, Henson makes this team. If 8 LBs is all the team carries, then bye-bye Blades. I think our Ss are set with Tyrone Carter on board, Holmes gets the axe. QBs--McNabb, Grossman, Beck RBs--Portis, Johnson or Parker, Williams FBs--Sellers, Young TEs--Cooley, Davis, Paulsen WRs--Moss, Armstrong, Galloway or R. Williams, Thomas, Kelly OTs--T. Williams, Brown, Heyer, Capers Gs--Dockery, Hicks, E. Williams, Rinehart Cs --Rabach, Lichtenstiger DEs--Haynesworth, Daniels, Holliday, Jarmon DTs--Kemoeatu, Carriker, Golston OLBs--Orakpo, Carter, Wilson, Alexander ILBs--Fletcher, McIntosh, Riley, Henson CBs--Hall, Rodgers, Buchanon, Barnes, Tryon Ss--Moore, Landry, Carter, Horton, Doughty P--Bidwell K--Gano |
