Re: Pinneapple Jesus vs. the new qb's brought in
Daryl Clark is a marginal threat to beat out Pineapple Jesus. Colt will be suiting up for us next year.
We just got through 5 years of wondering weather or not a 1st round pick would produce. God knows how well an undrafted free agent would go over. Ironically though I like Clark. He has the numbers, size, and other attributes I like in a QB.
Clark is intriguing. I watched some State games the last couple of years and thought that he might be able to play on Sundays. Then again, he could be State's version on Brad Banks from Iowa (although with better size). |
Re: Pinneapple Jesus vs. the new qb's brought in
Clark is decent, but if JC can't hack it Clark won't. THe complete body of work isn't so hot for Darryl in 2009. Joe Elliot from Purdue was a much better QB, and he wasn't even signed after the draft!!!!! Colt is safe I think for as long as Shanny wants him. Grossman will be gone after this season and Shanny drafts a QB to take over for Donovan. That is what I think the case will be.

Re: Pinneapple Jesus vs. the new qb's brought in
Colt Brennan was a decent sixth round pickup with some upside who was offered every opportunity to win the no. 2 job last year for Zorn. He didn't come through, then he ended up on IR, and now he's entering the prime years of his career as a third stringer.
I don't think we're going to keep 3 QBs this year, although if we do, Colt's the odds on favorite to hold the job. He's not going to ascend the depth chart and his chances of ever throwing an NFL pass are basically nil beyond this season. |
Re: Pinneapple Jesus vs. the new qb's brought in
I agree...if he can beat out grossman then it's all good. I just think he's getting a little old to be lingering around as a #3 QB.
Shanny is going to draft a QB in 2011 or 2012, I am sure he wants to shore up the O line before he gets his guy in here. Brennan isn't "his" guy just as much as JC wasn't "his" either. Brennan is going to be like Sage Rosenfel for us til his contract is up. |

They took a shot at a guy who has NCAA passing records, but didn't play the best opposition in getting those ungodly stats. They took a shot, and it hasn't worked out thus far. I think we will keep 3 Qbs. Donovan can get hurt, then Grossman does his thing. Brennan is the emergency QB if the shit hit the fan. Shanny drafts a QB in 2011 and will be under Donovan to groom him to take over. Like I keep saying, if Chase Daniel was a few inches taller Brennan wouldn't be here. |

Man I hate the offseason

This is nonsense. Colt will be our starter three years from now and set all kinds of franchise records.

Aside from Tom Brady, there are only a handful of 6th round qb picks that I think even became starters. I don't think it's accurate to say that Colt "hasn't worked out thus far." He made the team his rookie year. Last year, they IR'd him. He wasn't expected to take Collins' spot as the #2 his rookie year. Last year Zorn wasn't impressed w/him, but Zorn is gone. If he makes the cut this year I think that's meeting expectations for a 6th round pick. |

why is everyone so testy about a back up?

Actually this thread is not even talking about a back up, it's talking about a freaking 3rd stringer. |

I think it's more of being testy about "the QB of the future", than the backup. |
Re: Pinneapple Jesus vs. the new qb's brought in
The Pinneapple Jesus crew should have been at FedEx Field on Saturday for the draft party. His replica jersey was in the tent sale for $11.

Re: Pinneapple Jesus vs. the new qb's brought in
Ok, I was gunna say with all the CB threads we had to open another but it seems others have beat that drum.
So I'll take a serious side to this question: I like his chances. I think he might shine under the Shanahan's. My only concern will be his height compared to the other two QB's. Never mind. Just looked Austin is now the shorty. CB- 6-3 206 lbs Bartel- 6-3 233 lbs Austin- 5-10 165 lbs I have not seen Bartel play but Looking at Austin's play from college he looks pretty good also. I could see CB being the #3 if healthy and Austin making the PS. |

Duh don't you see? JK. I made a mistake. I'll just count myself as having a shortheimerz. I meant Daryll Clark. I looked at his high lights reel and he looked pretty good. But on a side note Austin looked good also. :) |

PJ should start working on being the holder for field goals and maybe some special teams work.
PJ should start working on being the holder for field goals and maybe some special teams work.
That would only apply if he was the second string QB. Most teams don't officially dress their 3rd string QB. Although I think they might be allowed to play if the first two QB's get hurt, but you can't put them in for clean up work. Don't hold me to that second part though. |

I get testy about Colt because I feel like there's about a 3% chance our Tom Brady is riding the pine!
I've said it since he arrived here...he's our "Backup of the Future".
Maybe.
LOL, I like that. I feel the need to clarify, I mean, people get testy about discussing "who will be the QB of the future"? Brennan has been a heated debate since his arrival in DC because of his "project status". Not being a 1st or 2nd round draft means that he was not annointed as the future QB, but his college records lend to his cult status of the "Sexy, Mysterious, Gunslinger who is ready to come flying off the pine, and blow away the enemy!! I don't think that he will rise up to be a probowler, but I sure would love to see it. It has been a long time since this team has had a great QB. I think having McNabb play in front of CB, that some of that professionalism may rub off a bit, maybe. If it doesn't? Well then, I don't really see much of a future with Mr Brennan and the NFL. |
