Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
Sorry, this is a true Snyderrato. Shanahan and Allen came in and said - "Here's how we're playing the game. I am the coach, he's the GM and we decide what's best for the team. The inmates are no longer running the asylum. Get on board with that now." Who's to say Haynesworth wouldn't be a kick ass NT if he tried? Guess we will never know.
As for trading AH, F that. AH wanted to pull a Cutler on Shanahan and Shanny said "Nope." I got nooooo problems with how Shanahan has handled it. Coaches rule, Players drool.
Shanny doesn't lose Joe, Snyder does, so SHanny can do whatever he wants. This is Snyder's wakeup call and he alone will eat the money. It is a hard lesson for him, but the man deserves it to be honest. In the end Shanny does need to trade AH, even if just for a 1-3 round draft pick(s). Like the housing market, you can't expect to get a fair deal with such an overpriced asset. Snyder was a total dumbass for paying the man $100 million. Not even Lawrence Taylor in his prime was worth that kind of money!!! |
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
No New news here.. We all saw this coming. I hope we trade this loser, IDK what we can get for him but atleast this problem will be out of our locker room. I'm about to burn my AH jersey as we speak.

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
Agreed, I just feel that if he was cleaning up the mess from the previous FO, a better value would have been getting a draft pick for this year's draft, than anything we can get now at this point. I am hoping that the team finds a trade partner, and they can get either a player or fair value in draft picks...but I just don't see that happening.
Well last year's defense with a better offense would be better.
Simple point is no player is above the team. F big Al. Either get on board or get the F out. |

Shanny will lose if the defense sucks and the team sucks, because his move to the 3-4 will be brought into question. Anyway, anybody know what the monetary fines are for players that hold out from mandatory camp and the regular season? Hell, at least we would get some money back. |

This is what's wrong with sports in our country!! This guy signs for more $ than everyone on this board has combined and he is bitching about playing a certain position.. This Fucktard needs to get cut and start working a 40+ hour job for 50k a year. Then complain about your job!

And sadly another team will make the same mistake and overpay some douchebag to a ton of money again in the future. It seems that teams can fine players about 16K a day for missing mandatory camp. Not enough, I think they get fine more per day if they hold out during the regular season. |
Tuesday, June 15, 2010 9:45 p.m. CSNwashington.com "The Washington Redskins are a great and storied franchise with an owner in Mr. Snyder that will do anything in his power to win and a fan base that is unrivaled in the NFL. When I signed here after meeting all day with the staff and top executives, and talked about the defense that we would run and what my role would be, I was assured I would have the freedom to play to my strengths and I was excited about the future. After many years in the NFL, I know what it takes for me to perform at my highest level. My number one goal has always been to help my team win -period. It's also important at my position to help free my teammates to make plays, which I've done throughout my career when I've been allowed to play to my strengths. I will continue to work individually to prepare for training camp and the start of the 2010 season."
Sounds very douchebaggish to me. I am really disappointed that he chose this route... |

wow, i dont even know what to say. if he's not on board, trade his ass. but not for some bs 3rd round pick. he is still a good player and we should'nt just dump him the first chance we get. get something reasonable for him, thats all i am saying.
Does anyone know the most amount of money that the team can fine him? It would probably not be enough.
I hope they never trade him and let him rot and gain weight on his couch.
2006-2012 CBA NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement Missing offseason mini-camp = 8,000/Day Training Camp = 14,000 per day. There is a section which says you can accumulate fines up to 20K/day, but it looks like you would have to work pretty hard to do that. In addition, he wouldn't get his pay during the season. Also, I think if he sits out, a portion of his signing bonus may be forfeited. |

Start to fine him $ 100,000 per day ,maybe Dan gets some of his $$$$ back . I doubt even Al Davis would trade anything for his lazy ass .

This is when we show our backbone and make a statement bench him. You cant just give him what he wants he already screwed us.

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
Let's trade him to the worst UFL or Canadian league team there is....
|
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
if he wants to sulk and not attend camp, bench him. shanny has to show he wont be pushed around.
|
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
If they can't get fair value then they should just let his fat arse sit out the season. The hell with him...
|
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
Last thing we need is another locker room pariah....see ya' Big Ass.
AND, I am confident that as far as Shanny and Bruce are concerned.....this boat sailed some time ago. It comes as no surprise to them, and I'm good with that. Personally I am of the JOE philosophy. You never regret filling your locker room with good character guys, and BA couldn't cut it in that department........ I have NO patience left for the 50 million dollar man! |
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
Let Haynesworth rot at the end of the bench.
I would never trade him, bench him until his contract expires. There should be a section at Fed-Ex dedicated to booing and belittling Haynesworth where the end of the bench is. |
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
So what can we get for Fat Albert now? What teams would be interested? Will we have to cut him?
|
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
I was critical of the FO when he was signed, now what I would do is don't trade him as he likes. What I would do is if he wants to be traded then he'll have to give back most of that money (like Arrington) or sue his ass (Al Davis style). How could a player who doesn't want to play be paid all that money, there has to be some loop hole or this is going to become a trend.
|
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
He doesn't deserve to continue wearing the jersey with all of his nonsense so what's the maximum amount the Redskins can fine him for each day he misses mandatory days that he sits out of camp?

Nobody to blame but Snyder (or whoever structured the deal) for giving him so much guaranteed money up front. |

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
For now, the Redskins can fine him roughly $10,000 for skipping the minicamp. If he stays out when training camp rolls around, the number increases to more than $16,000 per day.

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
I'm sorry but I am not OK on how Shanahan has handled this. Unless, he pulls a great trade (i.e.: AH for Mankins, or AH for Jamal Brown, etc., etc.) nothing is going to help us this season. Shit, at least a 3rd rounder could have gotten us a player in this year's draft.
If this is not resolved, at least the team can fine AH and try to get some of their money back. Otherwise, even if his fat ass sits on a bench, that does nothing positive for the team.
Pull off a "great trade" b/c the player demands it?? I call BS. AH cost us the Skins nothing but Snyder's money (Cry me a river on that one). AH is not going to make or break this season. Clearly Shanallen have been planning for this contingency (How many DT's did we sign?). Shanahan is telling the rest of the team - "I decide, nobody else - so you better get on board." Ultimately, that is a vast improvement over past years. If I am Shanny, the only way I trade AH is if we get a stone cold stellar offer otherwise it looks like I am caving. Not gonna happen (stellar offer or Shanny caving). You would rather players be allowed to bitch there way out of playing how the coach's wants them too? (Santana: "I am the number one WR or I don't play"; CP: "Either I am a three down back or trade me"; Los: "I am the starting CB or trade me", etc. etc. etc.). Sorry, whether it's where, how or when they play or if they are even part of the team, coach's dictate to the players. Not vice versa. |

I was a supporter of AH until today. This dude is a Lying, ugly, poor exscuse for a human being. I hope the Redskins don't trade him and let his ass sit all year, then if he still feels the same way sit out until the contract is up.

Well, I hate to agree with this post.... and I'm definitely in no way, shape or form defending Hayensworth, because he can go jump in a lake as far as I'm concerned right now.... but I think there is something to this point as well. One of the things that has really bothered me about the Skins' over the last decade or so, is our inability to adapt to the players that we have. Now, I totally understand that Shanny and Haslett didn't really get to choose these players, so I'm not blaming them either...but when I look at the players we have defensively, I think we'd have a heck of a team playing a 4-3, and I think we have many more question marks with a 3-4. I really hope to see the Redskins over the next couple years, taking advantage of some of the players they have and designing plays and schemes to their strengths. I mean that overall both offensively and defensively, not specifically just looking at fat Albert. |
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
And for all the people who said him missing voluntary workouts was no big deal.... This guy is a gigantic pile of shit. And he got $32M from us for playing in 12 games. This is irreconcileable at this point. Even if he is a Redskin this year, he'll be a fat, lazy, half-assed player. By that I mean he'll be himself.
And what really sucks is we're not gonna get any value for him. |
Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
i thought reid and JLC were just making all those rumors up. i guess all those reports were true after all...
Those were blind guesses. This is a descision made recently by the Haynesworth camp. I've heard: within the last 48 hours. It might not be THAT recent, but certainly, not before the draft. That's just not accurate.
If anything, we have two enabling parties in what is now actually a story:

the media, the Washington Post in particular, who created such a sustained negative backlash around Haynesworth that there's diminishing negative returns here with the backlash for this (substantial) decision.
the contract by Cerrato, which essentially (as I noted right when it was signed) traded any leverage the team had with the player to the player within 13 months of it being signed. It's nearly impossible to recoup a significant portion of the contract. We can get $4 million in pro-rated bonus money back, but -- aside from fines levied on him -- we can't touch the $20 million we payed out in March, nor can we touch the $1 million portion SB that was accrued and recognized on the books in 2009, nor his 2009 salary. That's something like $25 million that Haynesworth gets just for playing those 16 games.
He leaves another $17 million or so on the table in the next two years by not reporting at all this year, if he chooses to do so, and that's like half of his guaranteed money, so it's substantial. But $25 million for 16 games was made possible by the leverage Cerrato extended to get him (which was a risk known at the time, not necessarily a reasonable expectation of failure), was probably necessary to get him in the fold, and the media was already railing on him for essentially doing nothing wrong (which is fact), so it's really no skin off his back to not honor his contract if he doesn't feel like it. Complete dick move by the Haynesworth camp, but the timing of the decision leads me to believe that level heads will, at some point, prevail. The above is why you have his teammates going off on him now, and not before when he wasn't doing anything wrong, despite reports. |
