He didn't score, he took it down to like the 9 or something and we kicked a FG that won a game in OT.

Found an article:
14. Oct. 1, 2000

Playing against Tampa Bay, the team that had knocked them out of the 1999 playoffs just 10 months earlier, the Redskins rallied for a 17-14 win in overtime. In this one, the Redskins were sparked by none other than "Prime Time." Deion Sanders returned a punt 57 yards in the overtime session to set up Michael Husted’s game-winning 20-yard field goal. Sanders, known for his exceptional talents as a punt returner, had entered the game with a lowly average of 3.4 yards per punt return on the season. After his flamboyant 57-yard effort, Sanders told reporters: "All you doubters, there’s room on the bandwagon.
Hmm..as much as I want to pounce on Fat Al (ewww that sounds nasty), I'm going with Arch Deluxe. Not only was he a mediocre talent to begin with, but he somehow managed to decline once he became a Redskin, and only god knows where he is now.

I guess what I'm saying is Arch wasn't worth that money before we signed him and certainly never lived up to a penny of it after we signed him.

Re: Dan Snyder's worst free-agent signing

The worst signing by Snyder was the company he contracted to provide porta potties. Man they suck and they need about a 100 more spread around the parking lots. When he first signed that deal I thought thats the end of waiting in long lines, peeing in the woods, peeing by my car, etc..... Now the lines are even longer and the porta's stink even worse.
2 things about the arch deluxe if i remember correctly.

before his benching, he lead the skins in tackles.

the nfl and individual teams chart their own stats of tackles, etc. arch deluxe was the only player i remember that had his own team crediting him with less tackles than the NFL.

to some degree, i think arch was made a scape goat. and he sucked in deep coverage which i thought everyone knew was not his strong suit.
This is where stats are misleading. His tackle numbers were so high because opposing QB's would look for him and throw to whoever Archuleta was covering. Archuleta was the weak link in the secondary and every Qb knew it. He was benched for a reason, because his level of play was terrible, not because he was made a scape goat. A safety being bad in deep coverage is like a running back being bad at running the ball or a QB being bad at throwing.

Adam Archuleta IMO, he wasn't even a starter here, and when he was it was cause we were paying him so much money to not play.

Just when I had almost forgotten about Neon Dipsh!t this poll happens.

I seriously do not know why I have given Dan this 18th chance, and not despising him for what he has done to the last 11 years of my life. I think last year finally broke me, and I am refusing to get over hyped.

I went with Deion just for the 2000 perfromance he had against the Lions in the Silverdome. Johnny Morton smoked his ass all game, and of course Deion never really was a tackler. Dishman was way better than Deion!!!!!! Deion always got beat as a Skin, and sometimes, as with Morton, very badly.

I just seriously dislike deon due to his arrogance and cowboy background...I see everyone elses valid points about the other "busts" being more significant....but remember...this guy was hired to bench Darrel Green...I voted him the LOSER that he is.

That's more just dumb luck. Trotter was a high character, high performance player who unfortunately got hurt shortly after we signed him

$5 says Jason Campbell will end up being the new Patrick Ramsey; "We never gave him a chance." "He didn't get time to adjust to the system" _______ (enter lame excuse here)
QB has by far the greatest impact on your team of any position. To have one who had just gone to the pro bowl, and bring in another guy who had no leadership skills? Makes no sense.

Johnson could have been a very good Redskins QB for several years after that.

George.
Re: Dan Snyder's worst free-agent signing

Jeff George seems like a pretty easy answer. Both Deion and Haynesworth played as advertised. Archuleta underachieved badly, but that wasn't the fault of the signing, which had it's merits. George was going to be a wrongheaded move from the get go.
The thing with AA is, did he go on to do anything anywhere else?? If he did I would buy the scapegoat argument. He was a bad move no doubt but I think we have to point the finger more at Williams and Gibbs for that. I don't think Snyder was the one that roped that turd.

Deion, George, and Fat Al are all on Snyder.
His career was pretty much over when he got here. It's not completely unheard of for a skill position player (or defender) to be completely cooked by the age of 27, though it's very rare. I certainly haven't figured out a way to predict it.

I'm pretty sure that's what happened with Archuleta above all, is that he was a severely declining player in 2006, when there was almost no reason to think he would be, and he continued to decline after he left Washington. By 29, the guy couldn't even get a camp invite.

And at this point if he doesn't stay with the Raiders he will bounce from team to team as an eternal backup.

Another in the proud history of NFL backup qb's with Redskins ties. If we keep it up, we may have a backup on every other team in the league, and when the time is right, we will activate our sleeper cell qb plan
Jeff George played good for us that year he was a backup. I to this year don't know if he was the sole problem. The skins have been bad for a long time. George played great in Oakland and Minnesota afterwards. I think by the time he got his attitude problems fixed, teams didn't want to give him a chance anymore.

Oh and BTW, i watched that dude workout last summer. He still has a rifle for an arm. He flicked it 60 yards or more like it was cake. He still makes all the throws. Why that guy isn't even a backup somewhere i can't understand....
George played quite well when Johnson was hurt in 2000 but he's just a total headcase. A guy that talented playing QB should not be bouncing around the NFL like he did. No one could ever deal with the guy.

Re: Dan Snyder's worst free-agent signing

It has to be AA. He didn't even contribute anything on the field. At least the other guys made it on the field and did play and start. AA lost his job in training camp cause he sucked so bad. He was the highest paid punt protector inthe history of the NFL. lol.

Just the idea that Deion wore Burgundy and Gold still turns my stomach. George probably was the worst on the field move but I just can't stand Neon. Still can't even watch him on NFLN.

Adam Archuletta!

Dan Snyder gave him the largest contract in the history of the National Football League for a safety. Dan played hard ball with Ryan Clark and wouldn't sign him for 2 million and paid 10 million for Archuletta. Archuletta couldn't tackle or cover. Total waste.

I thought the arch deluxe started the first 6-8 games that season and was leading us in tackles (atleast through the first 6 games) before he was benched.

Didnt know he lost his starting job in training camp.
I'll go w/George too, mainly because that screwed up a team w/super bowl potential. The 2000 skins had it all except for chemistry.
B. Loyd was a trade, but he's right up there as a totally head scratching move. Similar to the George signing, Loyd came into a team that felt it could take the next step to the super bowl after winning a playoff game the year before. That team had the whole Arch & safety issue that year, but Loyd certainly didn't help the chemistry.
That is a funny comment. Except for the part where they play together as a team, the "team" had it all!!!!

Brilliant.
