oh ok, I have seen most of KC and some 2nd Dallas. It is fun to go back and see past episodes and know how their season turns out.
Analysis, live interview with LeBron. This will rate higher than any taped programming we would have had there.
I get that it's all about the dollars, but my god man. The amount of coverage is nauseating. "The Decision" brought to you Bing and University of Phoenix? Barf. It's NON STOP on ESPN. I know it's big news, but how many different ways can you break it down? Sheesh.

It was my understanding that Maverick Carter/Worldwide Wes & Co. contacted ESPN with the idea for the hour-long show, as long as they were able to sell the ad space.

You know LeBron is loving every minute.

Don't worry, Favre-fest is ready to fire up once Lebron's coverage dies down. Hope everyone is ready to see him tossing the ball around to high schoolers.

Wasn't he already throwing to high schoolers last week? I get the feeling the Favre-Fest 2010 version won't be like the past few seasons. He needed that ankle surgery to play this year went ahead and had it done, plus this year's Vikings team is as good as any team he's had his entire career. I think it's a forgone conclusion he's playing this year.

Yeah, just saying we'll be seeing those clips until he makes his formal decision. I think everyone, including himself, knows he's going to play. Still, the media loves them some Favre.

I heard a rumor yesterday that his management team changed their official address for tax purposes to Chicago. That came from someone in Ohio state gov.

GMScud 07-08-2010 02:42 PM

Re: NBA Screwed?: James Leaning Towards Heat

The fact that there's no state income tax in Florida certainly helps the notion of LBJ taking a paycut to play in Miami.

I really miss not paying state income tax down there.

Re: NBA Screwed?: James Leaning Towards Heat

If I was LeBron I'd go to Chicago. The Bulls have some horses on that roster already, and he can still be THE MAN on that team. Bosh and Wade are great for sure, but that team will always be D-Wade's as long as he's on that roster. In Chi-town, Lebron could still strengthen his "brand," and win rings at the same time.

Agreed. Wonder if the Cavs possibly trading for Johnny Flynn and Barbosa helps at all though?

Still, the Bulls I think are his best option.

I don't think so. Even if that trade went down, if I'm Lebron I put my choices at 1) Chicago 2) Miami 3) Cleveland 4) NYK.

Think of how nasty that Bulls team would be? LBJ, Rose, Noah, Boozer, and whoever else? Hell, make me the 5th starter and they still win 50 games.

On a side note, Skip Bayless may be my least favorite person in all of sports media.

Was just listening to Outside the Lines (shocker, Lebron special). So ESPN agrees to air an hour-long special to promote a decision that can be stated in 10 seconds, and then they have a panel of journalists on OTL just straight up blasting Lebron & Co for putting on such a show? LOL. Gotta love the media.

Sorry SS, I'm piling on a bit. :)

I could get behind that. Though if you think about it the Bulls with Lebron would be more stacked then the Heat with Lebron. Boozer, Rose, Noah, Deng, Pargo, James > Wade, Bosh, Lebron, Mario.

Someone mentioned though that James is a front runner and to that I wonder how you can say that. I mean why? Because his childhood teams were the Yankees, Bulls, and Cowboys? Please, if Lebron is a front runner then I still have a 359 after the Dirtbag portion of my handle.

If Steve Nash is a two-time MVP in D'Antoni's system, than imagine the numbers that a guy like CP3 would put up. By the way Smootsmack359, I realize you're kidding about CP3 going to New York.

12thMan 07-08-2010 04:21 PM

Re: NBA Screwed?: James Leaning Towards Heat

I think Lebron's going to the Knicks for three reasons:

1) His star can't get bigger in Chicago, Miami, or Cleveland. But it can in NY. I think he can take his persona and image to an unbelievably new level by going to NY.

2) He'll be JayZ's cross town rival. I think playing for the Knicks will make him more than just a basketball star, but somewhat of a hip-hop icon. Whenever the Nets face the Knicks the NBA will try to market this as Lebron v. Jay.

3) Lebron wants to be somewhere he can say he's primarily responsible for the team winning. In Miami he'll share that glory with two other superstars. And the question will forever be, is it Lebron's team or Wade's. I don' think he'll go for that.

Also by teaming up with Stoudemire, he'll be forming one of the top duos in the NBA. People will think Kobe/Gasol, Wade/Bosh, and Lebron/Stoudemire.

LOL, Smootsmack359

You think I'm kidding? Gallinari and Curry's contract for CP3. Chris Paul, Amare, and Bron Bron

But the Knicks aren't stopping there. They went out today and got Jordan

Still don't think this is going to screw the NBA, think we'll have to disagree there.

Crazy though. Lebron, Wade, and Bosh. Batman, Robin, and....Alfred?

And the Heat might be adding Mike Miller tonight as well (no idea how)

Man I'm so late. Wade and Bosh just gave away their weight in whatever they did have. Lebron will never live up to his hype. WEAK MINDED WITH OUT A HEART. Thats why he wont ever win by himself.

Cleveland fans are taking it hard. Can't say I blame them.
Anyone who is on Lebrons side is no Cavs fan. The man has lied to our faces and now we are a worldwide joke. More then ever before. I feel like I just caught my wife with my best friend and sister at the same time
Can anyone tell me if some Native American Tribe cursed the city of Cleveland?
You still have to appreciate the stuff he did in Cleveland, but...

The last three things he did in Cleveland

1. Quit in playoff series

2. Leaves Cleveland

3. Does it on national TV

Am I pissed...yes, but to call LeBron a classless man is incorrect because he did all he could in Cleveland with the exception of the last few months he gave his all to the city and the team so be pissed, but do not insult him

Cleveland fans need to get over it. Yeah, I feel bad for them. But this is LeBron's career. Many of us have had to make the decision to leave home in deference to what's best for our career. The Cavs also could have gotten Amare last year if they had just been willing to part with JJ Hixon. Apparently he was too valuable to trade, but not too valuable to take off the bench during the playoffs. And they should feel fortunate that he was even there for 7 years? How often does that happen these days where a local prep star plays (at least some of) his prime years in his hometown? It was the luck of the ping pong ball bounce (and the Cavs tanking to get a better shot at the #1 pick) that even put LeBron there in the first place.

As a Wizards fan, this of course kind of sucks

In other Wizards news, former Wizards C Brendan Haywood signs a big deal with Dallas. Randy Foye joins the Clippers (along with Ryan Gomes who the Wizards were reportedly after). Another guy the Zards were reportedly after, Travis Outlaw, joining the Nets (along with Kyle Korver)

People were randomly screaming "TRAVIS OUTLAW" on Wizards Insider so you knew people around the fan base really wanted him. Never have I seen so many random cries for a player since seeing "OKUNGGGGGGGGG!"
It just rubs me wrong that an NBA team can work years just to position itself for all contracts to expire in order to clean the books ahead of the arrival of three superstar free agents. And poof, championship caliber team. It's just too easy. There's no in-house development of players like you have in the MLB farm systems or on the depth charts of NFL teams. In those sports, you can't just add one or two superstar free agents and expect to be necessarily any better than you were the year before. You have to develop depth, draft well, coach well.
agree with this 100%. same thing with the celtics a few years ago. shitty team, had cap space, and bam, nba title contender year in year out. really makes me lose a lot of interest in the nba tbh.
