Well in that scenario, I would think they may be a little scared.

I think we would as well, we wouldn't have any more damn draft picks!! lol

Just wanted to put one of the sites that have the trade on this page:

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

I dont get why anyone would hesitate to give up a 2011 2nd round pick for vincent jackson. the 2011 draft is going to be the weakest in recent memory, due to the high number of juniors who entered the 2010 draft. we'd be getting 3rd round talent with our 2011 2nd rounder, so why not ship it to the chargers for a proven #2 wide receiver?

Get the deal done .. Vincent Jackson all day long .. Probably see Devin Thomas and a 4th in 2 years ... Movin the Chains just talked about it

SD just got Crayton I think they want picks not players IMO unless their pro bowlers.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

How good do you think we will be in 2010 that will tell you how HI or LOW our 2nd round pick will be and whether it's worth giving up. SD gave up a 7th rd pick for Crayton so the value of VJ should go down some IMO.
PURE SPECULATION ON MY PART

I'm starting to wonder if Shanny played Thomas the whole game last night in part to showcase him to position for a Thomas, 2012 conditional 2nd round pick (no way they trade 2, 3 and 4 from the 2011 draft) for Jackson trade. San Diego could use another WR if they deal Jackson, the 3 game suspension wouldn't affect too much because it doesn't seem like we were counting on Thomas for much production early anyways. I don't think it will happen and I'm really about 50-50 for getting Jackson but the Jamal Brown trade came out of nowhere so I won't be shocked if it happens.
That'd not a crazy thought at all, though i would rather not trade DT.

Can you imagine the speed on the field with a WR core of Moss,Galloway,V.Jackson,Armstrong,Austin and Banks...?

Dayyyyum!

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

I agree about the 2011 draft class, but I think VJ carries baggage that affects his value:
1) the suspension this year
2) the salary he wants
3) the fact he is one misstep away from a year suspension

Even with all that, I would be ok if they brought him in for a 2nd next year

Shanetrn1 09-03-2010 05:04 PM

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

for a 2nd round pick pull the trigger, when the last time we had an elite wide out? im still surprised we didnt give Boldin a serious look... He and shanahan have the same grit IMO dude played with a broken jaw...

Agree with you but then edited my post. SD gave up a 7th rd for Crayton meaning VJ's value should go down some.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

feel free to bash me at any point as this is just a suggestion.....

How about Santana Moss and a 2nd in 2012?

My logic being we have plenty of small speedy guys on the squad, and it would give us the cash in order to sign him.

Let the bashing of this post begin.

Just a wild thought I just had.

As long as you're willing to answer the calls about having Joey Galloway as your #1 WR for the first 3 weeks of the season, sure go for it..

Seriously, that's too much.. That's not an upgrade. Still leaves us with one above average WR and a bunch of ???

artmonkforhallofamein07 09-03-2010 08:43 PM

yeah forgot about that... I stated the logic may be flawed :)

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

Now that SD has Crayton ( which I think was a mistake by DAL) the chances of Jackson playing with the Chargers is almost all but over. I have been saying all along, let's go get this guy. Big/Physical/Fast... We need that on this team

Jackson ain't shit...people need to get off his d*ck. He had two decent, not even great, years and all of a sudden he wants to get paid like a super star? No way!

I really don't get what all the fuss about Jackson either? The guy played with a stud QB, perhaps the second best TE in the game, another pretty solid WR. And let's not talk about the backfield. Basically the guy played with weapons left and right and with one of the most prolific offensive minds in football.

Fellas, this guy ain't Randy effin Moss.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

12th, saden1 and JoeRedskin all agree - V. Jackson is not the sh**. He is not "the missing piece". Is he better than any one we have? Maybe. As 12th said, lets look at this guy with out a zillion weapons surrounding him.

Agreed. If people bitch and whine about Haynesworth attitude, this guy is just about the same (well except that he didn't take 21 mil from the team). Throw the suspension on top of that, and the fact that SD will ask for a lot, I don't see this as a good deal (unless he gets cut).

guys just to let you know... I am not on the bring in VJ bandwagon.. If we add a WR I would prefer TJ.

Not impressed with Clayton nor will Antonio Bryant be healthy enough to play this year.

Hahaha...you're not the only one not impressed with Clayton, Tampa probably cut him a year or two too late.

TJ cost nothing but a couple of $$$$ whatever any team pays him Seattle's on the hook for the rest.

agreed other than 2004 he has not made any kind of impact on the offensive attack in TB.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

We are set at WR for now. TJ is probably a Viking by tomorrow.

skinsfaninok 09-04-2010 11:44 PM

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

I disagree Gus. Both our starting WRs are old especially Galloway and AA hasn't proven anything in the NFL. Devin Thomas can't beat out you or me and R. Williams is a bum. Yea Cooley is amazing and Davis is solid but I'm still worried about our pass game. McNabb makes a huge difference obviously so that helps. Like I have said all along... I trust mike shanahan

I heard 32.

Mechanix544 09-05-2010 01:05 AM

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

ya, 32 about to be 33. Could be a stop gap player better than R. Williams and J. Galloway for a year or two.

artmonkforhallofamein07 09-05-2010 09:56 AM

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

I do not think we are set at WR. Our #2is an old man, and 3 and 4 have not proved anything. We may have one of the worst units in the NFL unless we get some nice surprises from rookies and unproven guys.

skinsfaninok 09-05-2010 12:07 PM

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

^ miles Austin came out of no where.. But I agree that we all should be concerned with this group. Moss is solid but he can be taken out of a game. Then who steps up?

Some unnamed team was negotiating with the Chargers until they reach an Impasse on compensation. Who could it be?

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"

I know this will get debated fiercely... lol... but ...

Art Monk was 32 in 1989.

That year he caught 86 passes for 1,186 yards and 8 TDs

Two years later (our Super Bowl year - 1991) he caught 71 for 1,049 & 8 TDs.

By the way... I JUST turned 33 and don't consider myself "over the hill" ... a 32 year old is MORE than capable to produce in the right system... my opinion.
