Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
New here so maybe that's been the case on these boards in the past.
I personally don't fault you for predicting us to lose in a 17-10 and that's a very realistic and logical way of thinking imo.... And if we had Jason campbell,Jim Zorn and same staff,a 4-3 bend don't break have our CB 15 yards off the WR's....Portis and Betts and no improvement along the O-line....Moss and Randel El and company.... I would agree with you 100% Mredskins! Actually...i would have us losing probably 24-7 or 24-10 or something like that. My point? People need to forget about last season... Imagine we are an expansion team that added 13 pro bowlers on their roster with a franchise QB and a 2 time SB winning head coach with THE best opening week 1, 12-4 winning % in the league...
But you are still an expansion team and expansion teams dont do well. The Skins are much better than an expansion team, my problem is that the new QB hasnt had a chance to play in live action with the starters and to top it off he's hurt. I think the Skins might have had a better chance had DM played a traditional preseason but he didnt which is why I think they will struggle to score points in week 1. |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
Why do you think the rookie Dez Bryant will make a difference, but the veteran McNabb won't?
Exactly.. For all we know..dez is a cross between M.Kelly and Taylor Jacobs... rarely do rookie wr's break out their 1st season. If Dez bryant was on ANY other team besides the ESPN Cowboys...We wouldn't hardly hear about him... I mean, how long did we all remember hearing kenny britt's name before yesterday?...lol 1st round pick rookie in 2009 Honestly,I forgot he played for the titans...lol seriously |

YouTube - TO Crying
Cowboys vs Redskins....no true Redskin fan could ever pick the Cowboys even if they don't think the Redskins will win. No matter how hard I try, I can't erase the memory of the last game I saw McNabb pay in an Eagles uniform. |
Romo looked damn good in the preseason eh?
26/46 for 287 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 64.3 rating Yeah that's sharp
It never ceases to amaze me that when the Skins dont do much in preseason (especially under Gibbs) they are being vanilla as to not tip their hand but others who dont do much stink. I guess thats another benefit of kool-aid. |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
Two words.
Santana Moss. Skins 27 Dallas 21 |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
I think our secondary will be our strength on defense this year. I like our starters on the corners; Rogers and Hall. I like what I've seen out of Kevin Barnes and while we certainly don't have any superstars at safety, although Landry certainly has the potential to be one of the best, we have solid guys at safety and good depth when everyone's healthy.
I wouldn't be shocked if we actually produced at least two Pro-Bowlers from the secondary this year, but the key is always a good pass rush which has been our achilles for the past few years. To that end, I see us getting two picks from Romo. Will Hall take one to the house? |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
This will definitely be interesting.
I think we might have a tough time with F. Jones on swings, and Witten will probably destroy us. I think we can shut down Austin, and R. Williams is a dud. Run defense is still a mystery to me, but I think Barber will probably smack us around a bit. On offense, Ware will get the better of T. Williams overall, but McNabb will do his thing and turn a few broken plays into gains. Dallas' secondary will break down at least a couple times, and hopefully we can take advantage. Portis will get 100 yards rushing. Skins 17 Dallas 21 |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
Rob...Santana Moss ownes Dallas! So I agree with you, and ACE there is no way we score 41 points on the cowboys D.. Slow down my man, I think we are just as good as Dallas on D, they are better than us on Offense.. I still see us winning HTTR!!!!!!!!

I don't think our Offense in general saw a lot of playing time. I believe that MS/KS really used pre-season to evaluate depth, and get a feel for what certain players could do. Maybe I am wrong, and this offense sputters about trying to find itself, but I think if that were the case we would have seen more planned and targeted play development. Instead we saw targeted player development. That goes for RBs WR's and OL groupings. MS/KS instill a lot of confidence in me that we are going to see an efficient organized attack, with our strengths (TE's, CP, and maybe Armstrong/Galloway) emphasized and our weaknesses (DT and Sanatana's tendencies to drop catchable passes, ineffective power runs) minimized except for the big play or necessary moments. Having said that, I remember the opener with Gibbs/Saunders against the Vikings, our pre-season had been vanilla, and that first play everyone was shifting everywhere, but we still lost. So, I'll drink the kool-aid, but Sunday night the Skins better be tossing out the Real Thing! |

Nothing to do with kool-aid, just pointing out I don't see what's damn good about what Romo did this preseason. If you can help me see it feel free. |

Like I said in my last post, alot of preseason depends on the goal of the coach. Dallas wanted to prove that their offense was on track. Listen to the post game comments, and how Wade and Romo react. They have a goal of refining the first team play. So when they don't accomplish it you can say something about their stats. We had a goal of judging individual players, so we run LJ and WP against the #1 run defense to see how they do. We don't put lead blocks, or cut blocks in, instead we do man on man, and saw where TW struggled. I am not saying one way is better, just that it results in skewed preseason stats and how you judge a team's preseason has to take into account the team's goals. |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
I foresee this game being a turnover fest. We turn it over 3 times to the cowgirls 4.
We end up winning, 31-30. Romo has a horrible day. Under 50% Completion, 2 picks and 1 TD. McNabb also has a forgettable day. 1 TD and 2 ints. TD is to Cooley. Special teams and the secondary win this one for us, with a punt returned and an int returned for a TD. Portis has 90 yds and a TD. |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
Who on our team is turning it over 3 times (remember that Banks is inactive ;))

Kind of like EVERY OTHER TEAM in the NFL? Including the defenses he played? |

I don't remember the stat, but it's been like 2+ years without a defensive score for us. We need that to end Sunday night

Hall has really been stepping it up and unless Bryant comes out and just goes nuts, we'll see Austin for the flash-in-the-pan that is and we'll just see the normal garbage from Roy Williams. |

GAME ON.
He did not pick the Cowboys to win because... he knows. they. won't. win. I actually can see this game going either way. I think both teams will struggle on both sides of the ball at some point throughout the game. The thing that worries me is our run defense. I was not impressed with what I saw when I went to the Ravens game and when I watched the others on TV. If we don't get that fixed we might be in a spot of trouble. If we can work that out I think we can win. The Cowboys O line woes do have me intrigued. I think Orakpo will make it interesting for them. I'm not making a prediction though. I say too close to call. For the sake of argument I will say the final score is: Seventeen hundred billionty-Negative infinity |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
I'm calling it, the Skins are going to win ten trillion to 13.
Hail the Redskins! |

Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
Tough game. It would be better to play the Boys later in the season when their offensive line will be completely broken down.
Nonetheless, Skins 24-23 |

i, for whatever reason, am not pumped up yet. i dont feel like regualr season, week 1, skins v boys on sunday night has hit me yet.

I have more confidence in the Cowboys defense then I do in the Redskins defense. You will probably see something in the Dallas offense no one has seen in years......screens. They could not effectively do screens in the past because Flozells fat butt could not get out in space and moke those key blocks. But there is a new LT who is much more mobile and athletic then Flozell and the screen will be in the aresenal. Watch for Felix Jones on these screens, he will get most of his yards off this. |

I never thought I'd see the day where your prediction was more modest than mine. |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
I think if Dallas is smart they will pound the ball at us and try to chew clock and wear us down. Mark Schlereth made a good point this morning on SC- the preseason may not count, but it does matter- And Dallas looked as bad as any team this preseason. So can they go on the road for a night game in a hostile environment against their archrival and just suddenly flip a switch and click on both sides of the ball?
I sure as hell hope not. But I'm realistic. IMO we're just a hair better than a middle of the road team. I think Dallas wins a pretty unexciting game 20-14. I'll be there, so I hope I'm wrong. I was looking at our projected starting lineup- Our average age of our projected starters at the skill positions (QB, RB, FB, WR, TE) is 32.3 years old. That's not good. Brandon Banks aside, I don't see any explosiveness whatsoever from this team. At least on offense. |

I just don't think their defensive coordinator will know how to stop K. Shanahan's scheme. We'll keep them in check for most of the game. Redskins 21 Cowboys 17
