Re: We have an excellent opportunity to have a 2 game lead, at the end of week 10!!
Lol, clicked on the last page of this thread without seeing who posted it and upon re-reading the title I told myself that this has to be Ace thread. Sure enough I was right :D
Anyway in regards to the actual topic, personally I don't know what to expect. I mean we all expected to beat the crap out of the Rams while the Colts probably expected to beat the crap out of us after laying the smackdown on the Giants. For the most part you never know whats going to happen. All we know is we have a team that can compete. However we don't know if thats going to result in above or below .500. Only thing we can do now really is wait and see. |
Re: We have an excellent opportunity to have a 2 game lead, at the end of week 10!!
That is nice and all, but let's take one game at a time. The Bears are bipolar on offense and have a solid D. Our D stat wise sucks ass at #32 in the league. Rock bottom!!!!! We can't stop the run to save our lives. No pass rush = Cutler picks us apart with Forte, Knox, and Hester. Not saying we can't win in the Windy City, but it is going to be harder than you think. Detroit isn't to be taken lightly either. THey are due another win, and we gave them one last year. Yeah things are different, but we can still find a way to lose it. THe Lions have also improved over last year and are hungry to win.

Re: We have an excellent opportunity to have a 2 game lead, at the end of week 10!!
Skins hopefully could, maybe, probably win ten games in a row and finish 5 games up.
Wait...WTF IS THE POINT OF THIS THREAD? |
Re: We have an excellent opportunity to have a 2 game lead, at the end of week 10!!
Also, with regards to the NFC East, all you can probably count on in terms of a sweep is us getting the deuce against the Boys. WE split with the Gmen at best, and maybe with the Eagles. If Kolb has a strong outing again, Reid might keep him in. He really clicked with Maclin last week. Andy might not want to mess that up.

I was only half right because our OL is still shitting things up, but not as bad as last year. However, although the score was close, anyone watching the game knows that Manning sure ass-kicked our defense. |

To the degree the Lions game is mentioned in this thread, the overall gist of the comments is that it will actually be a tough game for the Redskins to win, most likely tougher than the game against the Bears. And I don't think anyone needs to be reminded of last season's game against them. Who is exaggerating the Redskins' strenghts?
See JoeRedskins post. My post was mainly in response to him. |
Re: We have an excellent opportunity to have a 2 game lead, at the end of week 10!!
These threads are getting a bit ridiculous. I think back to 7th grade when I wrote a book report for English class. And admittedly I half-assed it but I just wrote and wrote and wrote so that at least it was several pages long.
And my teacher, who was a no-nonsense guy gave me a C on the report and wrote in the comments "SmootSmack, you write a lot...but you don't really say much" Ace, I would say the same about your threads. Tone it down some, you don't have to rush to start a thread every time. We should take things one game at a time in my opinion. We haven't shown yet that we can consistently be counted on to win the games we're "supposed" to win
Agreed. This thread is already being discussed: http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/39135-ok-guys-3-more-games-until.html |

But you do realize that JoeRedskins post had NOTHING to do with football, and everything to do about nature's call of the wild, right? I thought the Viagra reference was pretty well done actually. |

It's like you said in the "when the Skins punted in OT..." thread: I think it's better this way. The trainwreck threads are becoming my favorites. |
Re: We have an excellent opportunity to have a 2 game lead, at the end of week 10!!
Well,
At least we don't have a similar poll as over on the Dallas forum(started by the main mod there no less): "Roll Call: Do You Think the Cowboys Make the Playoffs" current votes: 118 say yes 245 say no and we criticize Ace for looking out to the bye week! Shame on us I say, shame on us!!! |

Re: We have an excellent opportunity to have a 2 game lead, at the end of week 10!!
Bottom line is these next two games are going to be real tough. We're simply not good enough to walk on the field and blow Chicago or Detroit out. I expect a split but would not be shocked if we lost both and would be shocked if we won both.

I wouldn't be shocked if we won both. I would be dissapointed if we lost both. |

Agreed. Let's face it, if we're going to make a push as a real contender, these next two are critical. 5-3 at the bye would set us up nice for the 2nd half of the season, and two conference wins will come in handy for the playoff picture. |

And unlike the last regime, I dont see Shanny letting that happen twice in the same year. If Chicago or Detroit beats us, it's going to be be because they earned it, not because we didn't show up. |
Re: We have an excellent opportunity to have a 2 game lead, at the end of week 10!!
This all anybody needs to know on why we will make the playoffs,if we can continue what I'm about to show you...
Quoted by Brandon Lloyd Christmas
The turnover numbers: a big reason our record is 3-3 so i've been hearing for weeks how jim hasletts defense gives up a ton of yards, and rightfully so. some people still seem to be more concerned about yards than points/turnovers, and turnovers is something our new staff is finally preaching, and it seems to be preached on offense as well. i listened to jaworski on the tony K show this morning and he had some real nice things to say about our defense, especially how well we did confusing manning early on in that game. he said our scheme looked great and had our DBs been able to catch, manning would have been picked off 3 times, maybe a 4th. but i wanted to look at our turnover numbers, lets take a look since 04 when gibbs came back, all the way to now. 04 giveaway: 27 takeaway: 26 net: -1 05 giveaway: 26 takeaway: 22 net: -4 06 giveaway: 15 takeaway: 12 net: -3 07 giveaway: 29 takeaway: 24 net: -5 08 giveaway: 18 takeaway: 18 net: 0 09 giveaway: 29 takeaway: 18 net: -11 10 giveaway: 6 takeaway: 11 net: +5 were currently 3rd in the NFC in turnover margin, 2nd in giveaways and 8th in takeaways. given how many plays rogers has been in position to make and botched, think of how many turnovers this defense could have produced by now, and how this scheme really does look like its working. this is the first time we've been in the plus column on the turnover battle and i think its one of the biggest reasons we are playing tight good football games. it also goes to show how this coaching staff has guys mentally prepared to be in control of the football. aside from mcnabbs picks (which most have come on last effort passes or and endzone heave against the packers) moss is the only offensive player with a fumble. if we can keep the turnover margin up, and get our DBs better at catching, this defense can be legit and really help this team moving forward.
You're welcome! :) ace |

Re: We have an excellent opportunity to have a 2 game lead, at the end of week 10!!
I actually don't mind reading a thread of someone being a bit overzealous in their predictions rather than a bunch of threads saying to fire this coach and cut that player, etc.... and I really don't believe there is a fan who doesn't look a bit ahead at the schedule, maybe not as far as ACE does, but enough to say, "Hey, if we could pull off wins here and there..." Just sayin'!
I have looked ahead to at least our bye. I'm hoping for wins in the next two weeks and then, well....I look at the second half of the schedule as a new season. By then, all teams are in mid-season form and you really start to see the teams' true colors. |
