I hope he never gets a rush attempt again as a redskin, it's amazing how much better our running game turns into when he gos out of a game. I do respect his blocking but at this point that's all he is good for.

I think I have been watching different games. Portis was hitting the holes hard in the titans game before he went out

The last 3 games he's played in he's been productive

Jason Reid RI is reporting Portis has been placed on season ending IR.

That's somewhat disappointing, I was hoping he'd have a resurgence under Shanahan after he wasn't cut with the first group of vets that were let go last offseason.

I doubt he'll play another down for the Skins.

Clinton Portis headed to injured reserve
The Redskins plan to place running back Clinton Portis, who recently aggravated his groin injury, on season-ending injured reserve, two people with knowledge of the situation said Wednesday

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

Yeah I just saw that. Injured reserve is what i figured he would be placed on the first time he got hurt, due to severity of the injury, but i guess they wanted to see what would happen.

Everyone is reporting it...have a feeling that may do it Portis in DC. He will be missed

I guess this really is the end of CP as a Redskin.

Damn i never thought this day would come, and believe it or not i'm not happy about it. I want to take this time to say thank you to Clinton Portis for all of the POSITIVE things he gave to our football team.

He was a bright spot for us in 2004 and 2005 when Coach Gibbs was here, and he was counted on during tough times. However, he hit the wall in 2008 and was never really the same.

Thank you Clinton for the good memories as a redskin. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

I wouldn't be so quick to say he's done as a Redskin. I think a lot is still up in the air.

Still a chance he could be back. I wouldn't rule it out.

This Portis IR news could probably be a new thread, or an updated title for this thread

In other news Skins reached out to Willie Parker but he said no thanks so they signed Andre Brown. Time to pick up Keiland Williams for your fantasy team

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

I hope to god the Skins aren't stupid enough to let Portis go. I think we all know how LT is doing this year with the Jets and that's exactly what Portis will do for another team if he's let go.

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

Where do guys get the idea that Portis is done with Redskins? In fact, I think it's good idea to put Portis on IR this year, now he will have plenty of time to rest, which is long overdue for him.. Portis will be likely to feel refreshed and ready to play hard for us next season..

SolidSnake84 11-24-2010 01:02 PM

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

He just can't stay healthy. He is a worker, sure. But his body has reached the point where it's dropping subtle hints to CP that it is time to walk away. I'd rather he leave now with some shred of health than not be able to hardly walk 5 or 6 years from now after the injuries keep piling on....

Chico23231 11-24-2010 01:04 PM

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

Whats the arguement to keep him? Great pass blocker...? I mean lets improve that on the Oline, we need a playmaker in the backfield. His production has been falling for several years. He has become injury prone. I mean we ran him to death and he was a great back for us. His age is getting up there. If we brought him back as a third running back with very limited use at an extremely reasonable price, thats fine. But to think he has a lot left or a primary back? Hell no

Portia done for season according to ESPN I heard it on the radio.. I guess his days are over

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

I think Shanny gonna look at our RB situation in the offseason and think 1 thing, serious overhaul. The way we have gone thru signing people off the street, the Larry Johnson and Willie Parker fails. He struggling to keep 1 or 2 backs healthy. RB in the offseason will be a HUGE need. Shanny offense depends on productive RBs

He's already got some guys to evaluate this year. I really hope J. Davis can still hit a hole like he did in clemson & learn to block. I don't know if "serious overhaul" of the rbs is accurate, given all the needs on the roster, but yeah, there's gonna be some new blood in there.
