Not sure because I've never done it before, but I think that they have Best Buy employees come out and ask you what you're waiting in line for and then they hand you a slip with a number on it to ensure you receive the goods you're waiting for.
Ahhh, OK. I've always wondered that every year because when we visit my in-laws in Orlando for Thanksgiving, people are camped there 3 days before Black Friday and I'm like, "What's keeping me from showing up when the store opens?" |

Pssh 3 days? I just read an article about people waiting in line 9 days before Black Friday to get into Best Buy. |
Re: Eff Black Friday
So question about camping out:
What prevents people from just showing up at the door as soon as the store opens? Best Buy doesn't exactly have a "Line Forms Here" sign... I'm sure people might be waiting with their faces smashed against the door, but the people camping days in advance can't really stop people from getting in front of them can they?
well, whats to stop someone from smashing their face in? BB usually tickets an hour or two before open, at least the one year i was there at 2am. |

Agreed but you know people are crazy. 9 days? They better be offering 55 inch 3d hdtv's for free for me to wait in line 9 days in front of a store. |

****ing idiots out there. |
Re: Eff Black Friday
Yes it does bring out all the idiots at once. Around here many places were open on Thanksgiving afternoon. At about 3:00, both Walmarts Here, Sears, JC Penneys, and certain stores at the mall were open.
I guess it becomes black Thursday, or their attempt to eliminate black friday. There were just as many people lined up waiting for the stores at 3:00, as there probably were on friday morning. I think it blows beacuse now the people who work in retail don't get a day off for thanksgiving, since the stores are all open on Thursday. |

I find it funny many want to crucify corporations for their actions, but then turn around and do stuff like this.? How about some of these idiots looking in the mirror. |
Re: Eff Black Friday
My Brother and I had our eyes set on the $200 40 inch TV's from Best Buy but then at around 7:00 PM I saw on the local news that people had been lining up since 11 AM and at best they would only have 50 TV's. I'm still looking to get a 36+ inch in the $250 to $350 price range. You'd think the 720p TV's would be a little less expensive these days but a lot of them are in the $400 range.

You can find a 1020 36" for under $400 if you look. Fu^K BB they suck and I would not go in that store if they had 36" TV's for $100. They lost my business over a stupid $49 item that never worked and they would not give me a new one or warranty because it had been over 30 days. |

If it never worked, why did you wait till over 30 days to return it? Sounds like a error on your part. |

Those "Door Busters" are normally limited (ad says minimum 10 to store). Chances are if you aren't the first 10 people in line, then don't even bother. They'll give out the coupons/tickets for these door buster items in order of the line and chances are they'll have just the bare minimum stated. Unless you plan on saving 1,000-3,000 dollars on many door busters, it's probably not worth camping out a full day just to save 300-400 on one TV. |

It was a cheap little DVD player for my daughter to take to school. So by the time she got back to school and found that it did not work it was around 25 days. She went to school in Farmville Va. and had no BB close to her. She had to come home so she brought it back with her and we were like 10 days outside of their return policy. I agree they did not have to take it back but they also lost my business because of the poor customer service. Stupid ass mgr. kept telling me if I had purcahsed there extended warrantee they would have taken it back but I felt that was a stupid excuse to not provide any customer service. I feel with them you have to buy customer service because if you don't they don't give a rats ass about the customer. Lost my business and others over a stupid return. |

I will have to agree F Best Buy, their customer service is the pits. I have not bought anything from them in a long long time. |

I didn't even do any shopping on CM, but I did mostly online shopping on BF. The ads I saw for CM deals weren't that great imo. |

Re: Eff Black Friday
There are some great deals this year... 40 inch tv's going for $200? That's pretty insane. Still, you wouldn't catch me out there dealing with the nut-jobs.

Re: Eff Black Friday
I did Black Friday once. My dad wanted a little tool set so Sears had a great deal on a nice set so I decided I'd go and get him one. The store opened at 8:00am and by the time I got there at 8:15 they had none left. Well stupid me purchased another tool set that was not as nice but for the same price. I call that an F&L (First and Last) time I'll do that.
Yeah I do to but that was first and only try at the whole "wait outside in the cold to try and get a great deal" experience. i couldnt believe the manipulation. i learned my lesson.
besides that new electronics store HHGregg seems to have great deals for the next few weeks, not just on black friday. anyone ever gone to a HHGreeg? im going to try it out here in the next week or so.
I did a LOT of research and price-checking last Christmas when my wife and I decided to get a new LG flat screen as a gift to each other. HH Gregg killed Best Buy and every other store on price for the same TV. I spoke to an employee there and he said no one can beat their prices because of the way they buy, they're able to offer TVs below retail prices. I'll probably get my wife's gift there this year too and when we remodel the kitchen, I'll probably look there for appliances. I love HH Gregg. The only time I've ever left the house on Black Friday is when I was able to grab a gas grill from Lowe's for $80 a few years ago. Still using it...couldn't resist that deal. Even then, I went right to the grills and was in and out in 5 minutes. It was about 10 a.m. Matty's right, the internet is the way to shop on Black Friday. Even other times, I might go to a store to check the product out in person (especially electronics) but then I'll actually purchase online. |
Re: Eff Black Friday
If you can wait until Monday there will be a lot of these online going really cheap:

Great for mopping up vomit, cleaning out the fish tank, sopping up an oil spill. I'm sure other people have a non-traditional use for a Romo jersey. |
