Andrew Luck seems like a good pick also I guess....

Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
So who you like with the 10th pick?
Well I'd pick Center. We have to give whoever is QB protection and we have to be able to make holes for the RB. I'm not a college guru but I guess it was Pouncy that I'm talking about. He seemed to be able to get out on the end while pulling to block for the RB rather quickly. He just seemed like he would fit our scheme. Big to block on passing downs and fast enough to block on the run plays. No if there is someone better then by all means pick them up. But it still boils down to picking up someone who will fit the scheme. Trent Williams was not the #1 if you remember but he fit our scheme. So I guess a Pouncy at Center. I'd prefer to drop down out of the pick though and get more picks preferably for a 3rd and or 4th so we recoup our picks we lost. |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Don't forget Big Mike Williams will be back next year. I love when draft talk starts 4 months early because everything will be completely bass ackwards between now and then. That being said.
I agree we need OLine and DLine upgrades, however, you should not upgrade a line position at the #10 overall pick just to do so. #10 is way too high to use on an interior lineman. You can find really good interior linemen in the later rounds. If we don't trade down we need to take the BPA in high need areas THAT FIT THE PICK. QB, WR, OT, or even NT. I think that IMO Bryant can be the starting NT for this team and we have much greater areas of need than him. If we stay at #10 and a guy like Mallet or AJ Green is still there, take him. If we can trade down, even better.
I love big Mike but I am worried and he should be also about his blood clotting problem. My father was on blood thinners and the first thing they will tell you is don't get cut and try not to fall down and hit your head. I don't think if he's told he has to be on blood thinners he will want to be slamming helmets with other players which pretty much rules him out. Basically I see him as a long shot to return. Count him out unless there is some decent explaination as to what caused his clotting. If he's able to return then awesome but don't count on it. Plan for the worst hope for the best. |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Good call with AJ Green .... Blackmon will probably be gone now that I think about it ... AJ Green would be ideal .. kind of a Brandon Marshall WR .. be nice next to Moss/AA/AJ ... Cooley/Davis ... SKINS are headed in right direction, i've never felt better about a 6-10 team in my life.

Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
I think we all can agree it all depends on what the team is able to get done in the off season in FA. My area of needs are;
OL NT LB/DE FS WR One could argue QB. If they decide to keep McNabb (which I doubt) and coach him up for next year then thats one less position, but I seriously think they dump McNabb for whatever they can get and lean heavily on Grossman next year, interceptions and all. So that leaves OL, NT, LB/DE, FS, and WR. I can see them making whatever big splashes they can at WR which again narrows down the picks. Dump Moss unless he takes a pay cut, keep Armstrong, Austin, and pick up whatever top WR is available in FA. So we are looking at OL, NT, LB/DE, FS, and maybe a QB. The choice at QB is either get a high enough pick to get one of the best or look for a developemental QB middle of the draft. We have no 3rd or 4th round pick which is where people are saying Andy Dalton might go. So again I would suggest dropping out of the 10th pick in hopes of picking up either another 2nd round pick or a 3rd and hope one of the good QB's are available. I'd just be supprised if they put all their eggs in to move up for a QB. Grossman is not great but not bad and already knows the scheme. Bringing in another QB would mean exactly what we saw with McNabb, a QB who doesn't know the scheme as good as Grossman. So if we are going to do that lets bring in a QB who can be developed for the future and use the top draft picks to shore up the OL. |

safety is a real need but we have so many

Peterson from LSU, the Cowboys are targeting him. |

I would agree but I think they are more SS material. One could argue about Landry and I know he was a FS in college but I think he fits better at SS. We need a sideline to sideline FS unless Barns impressed the coaching staff that much or Horton or Moore is the answer. |

Green is at this point rated higher than Blackmon, but there's a long way to go & a lot can change. Green is a thin dude, I wonder if his durability will be a question. Julio Jones is rated by most slightly lower than Green, both of those guys are top 10 as of now. I would love to see a wr picked but would be scared if they did so at #10. I wonder if Green or Jones happened to fall that far if he would be too good to pass up, a la the 49ers when they got Crabtree. |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
If I had to make a guess right now, I would say they take Von miller
|
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
The player with the highest probability of success, excluding TE, FB, RB, and O-line. O-line is exluded since we already have an LT and nobody spends a high pick on the other positions of the line.

Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Ditto, bottom line is this team is so freaking bad that a good pick at really any position would be an upgrade and a necessary pick. Team doesn't get fixed with one draft + offseason so I say go either O-Line or D-Line
I keep going back to this page where I found your post that states this team is so bad. I think your remarks to your opinion is far from the truth. Mike Shanahan has proven that he has a gauge on talent and can put a competitive team on the field who is close to winning games. There are glaring needs for this team without a doubt but that is true with most teams. The pick that is in dire need, IMO, is a blue chip Nose Tackle. The guys we have at that position have served us well but you need that one guy who sets the cadence for others to follow his performance. Look at most teams that run the 34 defense and you will note a dominating NT. |

The whole team got decimated by injuries and that's why we weren't able to field a very good team. But if you are seriously saying that at 6-10 we're a good team then we don't have much else to discuss. Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Trade down to the teens, then trade down again.. I get the feeling we're going to go into this draft with 2 additional mid round (4th or 5th round) picks for McNabb and Haynesworth and then try to stock up on picks.
A lot depends on free agency but my doomsday scenario is Jake Locker at #10. He just screams HEATH SHULER to me. |

I don't think we draft a QB imo

FALSE. He's only as good as the people he has around him. That means he wouldn't look too good in Burgundy and Gold next year most likely seeing as our talent pool isn't exactly stellar at this point. I don't like the kid much. I would much rather take Mallet. ....Or Ryan Leaf. lol. |

I admittedly don't watch much college football (game wise but I follow some prospects) but here's what I know. He had a dramatically worse senior year than junior year. He's had one standout season on a team that was bad for 4 years while he was there. In the 2 games vs. the best defense he faced, he was like 6-40 for less than 200 yds and no TD. None of that screams franchise QB to me. It seems that he has some athleticism and some tools but I want my guy to make his teammates better, not need them to make him look good. Not sure if you're old enough to remember Shuler but he was Tebow before Tebow was Tebow. Great athleticism, dual threat, supposedly had all the 'tools' to revolutionize the position and be a franchise QB for years to come. Problem was he ran the ball so much in college he didn't know how to effectively throw the ball, he was not prepared mentally to be an NFL QB and he wasn't able to develop into a professional QB. Now I'm not saying that Locker will turn into that but he hasn't show me what I want to see as an incoming pro QB. |

Jay Cutler didn't really look that impressive stats wise coming out of college yet he was able to make Shanahans system work at the pro level. Jay Cutler Statistics | College Football at Sports-Reference.com The main thing about Locker is that he has even more physical, raw talent then Cutler had coming out. The way he runs a bootleg is a thing of beauty and combined with the arm and leadership qualities, well safe to say you have a QB that would be perfect for Shanahaans system. I understand that people are scared of Locker because he has all these blemishes but ironically you want to be able to see those when you draft a guy. Don't give me the guy that played with a bunch of High School All-Americans at USC. Instead give me the guy who struggled through adversity. Give me the guy that had no help what so ever, that had to carry an entire team on his shoulders. Bring him here, let him sit on the bench for a year and develop, because as we all know, with QB's the returns take time and with any franchise you have to build around him while you're waiting for him to develop. You can't hope to build this perfect little team and then acquire your QB because then while your best players are in their prime you're dealing with the growing pains of developing a young QB and in turn you're mistiming your window. |

That's what I've heard but I'm not exactly SS. Still I don't remember where exactly but last year he was supposedly pretty infatuated with not only Bradford but Locker as well. In fact he's still pretty high on Bradford as he alluded to finding a guy like Bradford in the upcoming draft shortly after benching McNabb for good. |

I am torn on Locker but I enjoyed the little bit I watched of him. He had a tough night v. Nebraska last week but took the game on his shoulders, tucked the ball in & ran like a tailback to get yards. He does exhibit great leadership & 'it' factor, but the pocket decision making is a big question. I would be happy if Locker was drafted, if only because I'd see a young prospect on the team. But on the other hand, I liked Heath Shuler a lot, so Locker scares me too. |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
if we can't trade out of the 10th pick i'd take the best availible in the first, Kellen Moore as a project in the 5th or so, and OL & DL in every other pick.
we can go free agency for WR. resign rogers and we're good at corner. there are some okay safeties out there in FA but id say thats the least of our worries. Torain at RB. FA for LB's. the FA pool for interior lineman is deep as well... we'll end up signing someone, hope fully that isn't our plan A though and we draft some young talent. at QB i'd let grossman start the season and draft a project. |
