Man I have been to Park numerous times. Not really my scene but it isn't dangerous or anything. It is a pretty nice lounge/club.

I've been to many more seemingly "unsafe clubs" than Park in DC. It isn't a place where people go looking for trouble. Actually it's a nice establishment, most of the people there look like they are going to an interview.
I've been there too. Nice place but I'm long gone by 3am. I feel bad for Banks cause it seems like he was just helping his friend out. But you know the old chiche....nothing good happens after midnight.

BB was defending his buddy ... i love how people say no players at nightclubs .. what planet are you on ? this guys all go out ALL the time and it will never stop ... i think the clubowners need to do a better job at securing high profile people ... paris hilton isn't getting stabbed B/C she is in the VIP of VIP where nobody can get to them ...

Agreed. I really wouldn't mind better security at clubs.

This is all quite ridiculous.
You may as well say that they cannot drive cars so they will not get into road rage incidents a la Albert Haynseworth.
And you cant talk to girls (Ben Roethlisberger)
And you cant own a cell phone (Brett Favre)
And you cant have a party on a boat (Fred Smoot)
etc etc etc
]Nothing good happens after midnight. If you can't find something to smash during the day, get a DVD and some paper towels.

I can't imagine why someone would have to pull a weapon on BB. Maybe his friend is huge or something. B#tch move IMO.
I guess you never picked up any really hot drunk chicks after midnight. I found allot of good things can happen after midnight when I was hitting the bars.

Well..........in the interest of accuracy, they seemed pretty hot until the I woke up the next morning.
.........and, they probably said the same about me...........damn

Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub

My question is, why won't these bars/clubs have metal detectors or someone patting you down? Seems like I hear way too many incidents (not just with athletes) at bars and clubs where people are getting shot and stabbed. Unless this was outside??? If so, then different story.

I would have to agree that usually nothing good happens after midnight. I've been to bars and clubs plenty of times in my day and I suppose I'm just not of the party crowd. I tend to enjoy house parties with my friends than I do going out to clubs.

I prefer bars where the clientele isn't of the nature that needs to be patted down or walked through a metal detector. That's just me though.

Seriously, if a place is patting people down, chances are it's not a venue you want to be in.

BB should be ok. He'll just have to learn to return punts while holding his side. DG can teach him...

Sure you may run the risk of getting stab or in a fight if you go to a night club.... But come on ban players from going to these things thats, pure crazy. What are you their mom?

You know you can get in a car accident even if your a PASSANGER!!!!! There are risks in life, even good people get hurt and sometimes they even die. Thats life.

I don't think anybody is saying they should ban athletes from going to nightclubs (although during the season would probably be a good idea), but for these athletes to exercise a bit of commonsense. About the only place I want to be at 3AM in the morning is in my bed asleep.

He's a young guy that has not yet learned the meaning or what it takes to be a professional. A trait that happens all too often in the lives of the NFL player. He needs to be pulled aside.....

Banks' agent, James Gould, said the 23-year-old had a tube inserted into his chest to aid his recovery. Redskins athletic trainer Larry Hess relayed through team spokesman Tony Wyllie that the tube was inserted to prevent Banks' left lung from collapsing.

I think we need a new definition for superficial

NYCSkin 02-16-2011 12:10 AM

Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub

A superficial knife wound to the chest would likely not penetrate the chest cavity. If a knife wound did penetrate the chest cavity then Banks is in danger of having a pneumothorax (the lay term is collapsed lung) which is commonly treated by inserting a chest tube to prevent a more serious complication called a tension pneumothorax. Seen plenty of those in my DC General days...

He's also a little/thin guy so he would likely be fairly susceptible to blunt chest trauma.

I was about to post the same thing. He is so thin, a knife has much less further to travel to puncture a vital organ. I am glad he is ok.
Just as important, I hope he learns from this experience.
The whole Gangsta thug thing needs to stop. Leave that shit to the rappers and other unfortunate souls that find it cool.

Terrible thing here. I really hope Banks has learned a valuable lesson. Starting fights outside a nightclub with strangers is just a terribly stupid thing to do. And be aware of the type of people you hang with. He could've easily been killed over some real stupid shit.

I was thinking the same thing, but now that the facts have come out this is anything but "a Sean Taylor story." Taylor was defending his family in a home invasion. Banks was apparently acting stupid outside a nightclub.

Are there really any "facts" that have been established, other than he got stabbed? His agent says its a fact that he's a victim, i.e. he didn't start it, but other reports indicate he did.

I just related it to Taylor because of the potential life threatening situation, not based on their actions at the time they were injured.
