Re: Game Tape: Ryan Torain
Yeah KW was pretty decent in his blitz pickups if I remember right.
Torain is strictly a 2 down player, I can see one of the new kids beating him out. |
Re: Game Tape: Ryan Torain
Mike Shanahan said that K-Wil was the best blocker on the team after CP went down. Now that's not saying a whole lot considering CP is one of the best blocking backs in the game, but compare his blocking to Torain and like, James Davis, and it's a lot better. I was the one who cut the film of Donovan McNabb in the Colts game, and Keiland has some pretty impressive blitz pick-ups. That's the reason he was out there on third down so often.
Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. Last season feels like so long ago it's all a blur. Maybe I'm still thinking of Ladell Betts |

Hahaha. Maybe you're thinking of James Davis. He whiffed on a few blitz pick-ups. Or it could be Torain. He wasn't any better, and he wore number 46. |

Oh I do dare say something negative about ATV in your presence! Gauntlet=thrown down. |

Gauntlet=thrown down.
You best pick that gauntlet back up! No seriously though it's ok, I know Torain has his flaws. Even I've said he should be no more than our 1A, probably #2 option at RB. But say anything bad about Chase Daniel or Justin Smith and heads will roll |

Smoot did you by any chance go to Missouri? |
Re: Game Tape: Ryan Torain
Ha, didn't even think that they both went to Missouri

When I was at the Jacksonville game last year I noticed something, Toraine runs with a limp. You know who else runs with a limp, Adrien Peterson. That limp only comes with violent runners that run pissed. I think he's gonna kill it next year.

As good as AP is, he still can't block and he still can't catch either. ...In fact, that makes him a lot like Torain. Honestly, as crazy as it sounds, if I were Mike Shanahan, I'd try to flip Ryan Torain for a third or fourth round draft pick. Shanahan has pretty much made a career out of trading running backs for either picks or players he needs. Just something to float out there to keep the discussion floating. |
Re: Game Tape: Ryan Torain
Eh why not?
[YT]dRcg5JPfOhY[/YT] By the way the producer of this show was pretty annoying having virtually every play for the Skins start with a close up of McNabb. Stupid stuff you don't notice until you try to edit tape, lol. |

Torain's done okay so I would like to keep him around till the line is settled more -- who knows, once Shanny gets the line up, we can trade Torain for a 2nd or more after he's rushed for 1200-1400 yards. |

I forget the actual number but last year I believe Torain was on pace for like 1,300 rushing yards over the course of a 16 game season. |

About 1200 from a look at his stats page and about 8 touchdowns -- let him do it without getting inured and there will be plenty of interested parties after next season. Let's not forget, he's only played in 12 games his whole career which is all of 3 years; the guy has got a lot of gas in the tank but seems to kind of, sort of have an injury problem |
Re: Game Tape: Ryan Torain
shanny can make a 1 cut back look pretty good.

That's what I'm sayin'. I don't know why some people want us to spend big on a running back when Shanny can take an ordinary 1 cut back and make him look like a Pro Bowler. I don't think we have anything to be concerned about at RB with Torain, Helu, and Hightower back there this season. |
Re: Game Tape: Ryan Torain
With some consistent run blocking we'll have a solid run game this season. Much of what Torrain did last year he did on his own....

Totally, with the busted up OL, Torain still managed a respectable 4.5 a carry and was on pace for like 1200 yards which is damn impressive given how crappy the rest of the offense was. I fully believe that with even an average passing game and with an improved OL (no Rabach is a great start), Torain could put up decent numbers. |
Re: Game Tape: Ryan Torain
Torain
Hightower Helu K. Williams I don't wanna see 5 rbs on the chart. |

There are a couple of home-run hitters in free agency who would look good somewhere on our depth chart though. |
Re: Game Tape: Ryan Torain
The thing that bothers me is how few carries I'm finding in the second half of games and so far I've come up with only two explanations. Either the defense has allowed to many points (Dallas and Indy) or they're getting tired in the second half and giving up long drives allowing the opposition to control possession in the second half (Tampa). Either way this has to change.
First of all, thanks for all the hard work uploading these vids. Now, to your question about the lack of carries in the 2nd half -- if you notice, especially in the Tampa Bay game, they have a whole lot of rushing yardage, but not many points. By the 2nd half, time becomes a factor, and if you're not reaching the endzone by running, you have to try to do it passing. Then you have the typical issue of opposing defenses adjusting their game plans at the half and clamping down on run, making in generally less effective. |
