I think you can list the additions we've made this offseason who will still be Redskins in 2014 on one hand, but great! |

I concur. Best I've felt about the Skins in a looooooooooooooooong while regardless if I think we'll be good or not. |
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
I think we only have 2 players on the the roster 10+ plus experience. Last year we had 7, so we are getting younger. That's a good thing.
|
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
University of Richmond baby!....Hightower has really been a success story, cant believe Arizona is getting rid of this guy...he does it all. Power back, pass block and catches the ball outta the backfield.
|
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
Wait, you're comparing Hightower'is impact/production to Vonnie's? I don't know about that one, bruh. This guy ain't Adrian Peterson, but he should step right in and play a very significant role and pick up where Clinton Portis did in pass pro.
Gonna have to disagree with you on that one. But we'll see when he hits the field.
Comparing depth at RB to depth at DE. Seemed like, before this trade, we had both. Now it seems like we have just one. Of course, this trade likely signaled that Holliday wasn't going to make the team anyway, so there's that. Hightower can now replace Torain as the fan's crush who probably isn't helping the team that much. If he lays out a couple of NFC East linebackers in pass pro, it will be a trade well spent. For entertainment value at least. I'd rather have kept the 6th rounder or 7th rounder or whatever it ends up being. |
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
Like the move. Very underrated RB. Young, hard runner, who can pass block, catch, and has speed to break a long one. I've always felt he can be a good starting caliber RB, and now he has that chance; Giving up Holliday, who was expendable, and a 5th.
Great Move
Where did you see we gave up a 5th? All I can find is an undisclosed pick. If we gave up a 5th and Holiday, that's too much. Ochocinco went for a 5th, and Santonio Holmes went for a 5th last year. I don't think Hightower's worth a 5th. |

Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
Cards fans feel like we got a steal, IF Hightower can hold onto the ball. But Hightower's durability and toughness is huge when we face the rest of the East (started 13 of 16 games last yr)
|
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
He's good depth to have. I don't think we gave up a fifth for him, but like everyone is saying, solid pickup. It's looking more and more like Keiland Williams won't be playing running back this season. Curious to see if this bumps Royster down to the PS, even though he was probably destined to go there anyways.

I think you get no arguement hes a back up. Hes not a starter but a guy who will touch the ball 10 times a game and come in a pass block (i.e. Portis entire value last year). His best value will be this: he will get the ball at the goalline and SCORE, we've had a little problem with that for awhile. |
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
I think we gave up a sixth for him.

I heard either a 5th or 6th based on Hightower's performance and playing time, but I might be wrong. I'm fine with giving away a 5th, because he'll probably start Wk 1. |

Tim Hightower is a quality no. 2 RB in the NFL. I think that's his peak value, and it also would mean Helu is doing what he is drafted to do. Plus, Hightower stays healthy and plays special teams, the biggest difference between him and Torain. |

And possibly seven new starters on defense. I like the Hightower signing btw. He could be a good addition on 3rd down providing he can catch...we know he can block. |

I think that Holliday, despite past contributions, was not going to factor much this year. We're riding the Jarvis Jenkins train for good or for ill. So I think that Hightower will contribute more than Holliday would. |

He's a tough runner something we really need so I'm happy w the move

My guess is that you've captured Shanny's idea. I don't think Hightower is here to send Helu to the bench. Instead, he's here for insurance should Helu struggle learning pass protection. |
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
If Hightower makes the team I'll give him a video.

Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
Anytime you get younger, and swap out a guy who might not have made the team anyway that is a win in my book.

This doesn't look good for Royster to make the team. I like the whole getting younger thing, but not at this position. |
Lose an expendable old guy, while adding depth and youth. I certainly cant thumbs down this one...
Thinking we might be focused on running the ball all day long... |

Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
Nice move, he's pretty versatile. I could see him being primarily the 3rd down guy.
It was kinda hard to see Holiday even making the team. |

118 catches in 3 seasons. |

Yeah! don't think he would be very excited about either Helu or Royster being in a game in critical passing situations until he's actually seen what they can do in game conditions. What it means for K. Williams may yet to be determined. The RB competition is becoming crowded. Matty added 118 catches in 3 seasons.......that's money |
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
I really love this move.
Instantly the most proven comidity we have at RB. the guy brings speed, youth, and experience to our back field for an old guy we got for next to nothing last year. Great move. |
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
Great trade, love Hightower. He will fulfill his potential with the Redskins, which he didn't do with the cards.
|
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
The reality of Shanahan is that unless he's got a stud like Terrell Davis in the backfield, everyone gets a shot at the ball.
I think we'll keep Hightower and he'll get his touches, especially on the receiving end. We'll keep Helu because he's got the one-cut style Shanahan loves and enough speed to threaten the defense on a homerun. And it will be up to Torain, Royster, and K Williams to battle for the other spot. Will probably come down to teams. Helu will lead our team in touches and yards from scrimmage at the RB position. |
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
So this is the veteran RB they've been talking about adding it seems. I heard trade in the works with Arizona this morning and I actually thought it was for Max Hall
Christ O'Mighty, can you imagine the crap storm that would've ensued if that happened... ...I would've wanted Skelton, though. Skelton by a mile. |
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
The jury is out on this one for me until I know the draft pick involved. If it's a 5th or better, I don't like it. 6th would be okay, 7th would make my day.
I guess I'm just not wowed by the trade if it's a 5th. Yes, we shipped off Vonnie, but taking him out of the equation, I don't like a 5th for a player of questionable value at a position where we have already have a lot of potential. |

Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
I just hope a couple of these FA bums they've signed will have decent ratings in Madden 12. Same goes for Beck.
Why did they draft all those RBs and WRs in the draft again? Looks like they should've targeted some OL and maybe [gasp] a QB!? |
Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.
Damn Diehard, pretty harsh against the moves we made. I like what we are doing. Nice and quiet. These kinds of off seasons get things moving back towards be a winning franchise again. So how many pre BA and MS players are going to be left on this team once we finalize our 53 man roster? That is a question I would like to know. I would think it may be only as high as 35% or so. Lots of turnover the last 2 years. There should be some good players in all of these guys. We also have added alot of youth as opposed to lots of older players.
