Will Montgomery has a good motor, but I'm not sure he has the talent or strength to take on a guy like Jay Ratliff. It'll be interesting to see how that works out with Montgomery at center, but if he is better served as a depth guy I'm sure we'll go out and get an upgrade next offseason. Not sure if many people agree with me that we should look at this as a non-contending season, because you know what they say, any team can go from crappy to contender in one offseason, but I do think we shouldn't get our hopes up.

Yeah, best way to describe Monty might be, not as good as Rabach in his prime but better then Rabach the last two years.

Oh, no way we are contending this season ... I'd be stoked with 9-7 and possibly sneaking into the playoffs. But cleansing the team of locker room malcontents, adding solid talent and depth at a reasonable price, no absurd contracts to aging has-beens (archuleta etc.) and all the other moves that Shanny/Allen have made/are making, are giving me hope that the attitude within the Redskins and about the Redskins around the league is changing for the better -- It's about building a team for the next decade and so far, that seems to be the plan internally as well.

How could you facepalm that last link :doh: I don't understand why anyone would ever get tired of reading that last one. I still enjoy reading that article, it brings a smile to my face [B][I]EVERY TIME[/I][/B], and it makes me think about a brighter future. I think that article should be celebrated on a yearly basis, and we should have a holiday on that day every year. Can't understand at all why anyone would get tired of that last one.

That's the point though. Obviously I'm setting myself up and every other response to one of my post is now going to include some type of facepalm for the next week or two after which our ADD minds will focus on something else.

However its getting out of hand. It use to be you would facepalm stuff like 9/11 truthers and the KKK, now it feels like people will facepalm anything they don't like. In this case all I needed to do was briefly mention Rodney Hudson in two post and I drew a facepalm (that count is now up to four). And it's not really that much of a problem on this site, but around the net it gets flat out abused.

Can't we use something cooler or more cultured like yellow cards or penalty flags? At least then everyone can have a laugh.

Anyway enough of this. This will be the last post I talk about it. Furthermore I will refrain from talking about Rodney Hudson until the season starts. Back to Jammal Brown resigning.

Damn you guys wanted Rabach gone and now you are complaining about Montgomery may not be the answer. Before you want a player gone you better be sure you have a player that can replace him. Typical Redskins fans.

Im glad we resigned Jamal Brown we gave the Saints a 3rd pick for him last season. We better be sure when we give up picks we really think a player can fill a need for us. RT dont grow on trees so welcome back Big fella. I wonder how the youngster Selvish Capers is looking thus far this camp? He sure needs too step up cause we may need him this year.

Well Montgomery is an unknown. Let me ask you this. We all have known for at least a couple seasons now that Rabach is not that good a starting center. In other words, he's crappy. Would you rather start a crappy player or an unknown quantity if those were your choices? Bear in mind, there's no potential upside with the crappy player. You know what you are getting with him. Alls I'm sayin is teams take risks with unknowns all the time, and you're never gonna know what you have unless you give them the opportunity. It's a simple risk/reward proposition.

And you read my post wrong if you think I'm complaining about Montgomery. I watched him in college at VT and now with the Redskins since he came here in the Zorn era. Could he do the job? Perhaps, I'm not going to judge him based on the limited quantity of his work so far. I'm just saying he's an unknown, and that's it.

Exactly. Rabach is done. We'll probably miss his head (he was still a smart player, just not good anymore), but we're a rebuilding team, we need to see what we have. Anyone here if we might be looking at Olin Kreutz?

Not sure I'd call Montgomery an unknown. He had 6 starts last year and saw some time at center. I think he's ready to take advantage of his opportunity.

Great news! We finally won a bidding war this offseason! The Cards, Chiefs and Bears were all trying to get Brown.

Important signing, Brown is better than Ryan Harris who would probably have been the backup plan if we lost Jammal.

You're joking right ... there is a difference between being unsure about someone at a position (Montgomery, Lichtensteiger etc.) and knowing that he will suck (Rabach). I lost track of how many times Rabach sacked our QB by stepping on his foot, running into him etc. Anyone is an improvement, it's just a question of how much of an improvement.

Very true. Montgomery seems hungry, but I wouldnt mind Eric Cook putting up a big fight for the spot. Im all about seeing these young guys fighting for the C and ILB positions in camp.

I am hoping he steps it up this year. I liked him coming out of college as he seemed like he had the tools and, as a converted TE, possibly the athleticism. Read somewhere he was looking lost in camp. Not sure how reliable that is but hope it is just early camp jitters. It may be that he is just not the sharpest tack in the box.

Not only did we successfully get worst this off season , we also allowed the Eagles to acquire 3 or 4 players better than the last 65 free agents we've signed the last 12 years all in one year !!!!!!!

100% Agree, & now the New regime is doing an even worst job of not even getting involved in possibly the most deep off season of free agency ever !!

People think our secondary has been upgraded because of the Otogwe signing. but little do uneducated Sports fans know , he is almost an exact replica of D.Hall !!! Now we have two half ass players in our secondary who believe they are the business, so they will continue to be flat & give up tons of plays !!!

So you are saying we will be much worse than last year's team? Yeah i find that hard to believe. Unfortunately our old strategy of team building was a complete fail. You know, get the best free agents and watch the team grossly under perform? I dont get it.
