Grossman being back is a good thing ... i'm not saying he's an all pro but if you recall a few seasons ago with da bears he absolutely lit up the first half of the season .... not to mention the guy GOT to a super bowl ... i think Beck will get his shot but I feel much better have the Sex Cannon backing him up
Grossman rode on Bears's D and special teams.. Granted he didn't screw up enough to ruin games. I think Rexy will be better than he was with Bears though, only because of Kyle's system. |
Re: Rex reporting for duty!
Sexy Rexy he's our man!!! He's got the confidence of the coaches and a far better offense to work w/ than he did in Chicago...let's all send positive vibes :)
|
Re: Rex reporting for duty!
...and yes it's exciting to watch him play because you have absolutely no idea what will happen next!!! Brunell = throw to the sidelines and trot off the field regardless of the outcome LMAO. JC = frustration. McNabb = dissappointment.
Sexy Rexy can light up a TD pass 50 yds out or trip over that long blade of grass!!! |

Re: Rex reporting for duty!
There was a time where if you wouldve asked me, who I thought were the top 3 WORST QBs in the league, I wouldve DEFINITELY put Grossman on that list. The fact that Im HAPPY that this guy is back really shows me how horrible our QB situation is. Dear God, PLEASE let this be the very last year we have to deal with these low budget QBs.

Really? Like really really? I like Grossman over Beck this season, but I can't remember any season where Grossman deserved to be mentioned in the top 3 quarterbacks in the league. Top 16? Maybe. Top 10? No. Top 5? Hell no. Top 3? Maybe in the top 3 of quarterbacks who last name rhymes with Boseman. |

I don't think you read his post right |
Re: Rex reporting for duty!
I like Rex. I think he beats John Beck out, and I actually think he plays well if he's given the opportunity. I love Beck's heart, but I think Rex is going to beat him out just due to familiarity and being able to hit the deep stuff on a regular basis.
I like him though. (How you can tell someone is relatively new to football; they're willing to give Rex a chance.) |
Re: Rex reporting for duty!
Rexy is a solid fall back plan. I think Shanahan wants Beck to win the job though, whether he actually does is yet to be seen.

Re: Rex reporting for duty!
I can't believe I'm typing this but I'm slightly excited (emphasis on slightly) that Rex is there. I've watched the Cowboys, Jags and Giants games a few times this offseason and Rex has a really good grasp of Kyle's offense. He needs to correct three things: holding on to the ball too long, late passes to the flats (3 of his 4 INT last year) and protecting the ball in the pocket. If (big IF) he can suppress his HTM-Human Turnover Machine-tendencies he can be a competent QB for us. I'd give him a 3 win advantage over Beck with this team.
If Grossman were to win the QB competition and be named the starting QB, there are three things I'd like to see him improve upon: (1) Completion Percentage: (2) Protecting The Football In Traffic: (3) TD To INT Ratio: Providing he could improve those three areas, on a scale of 1-10 I would give him a 5 1/2. The three games Grossman started last season against the Cowboys, Jaguars and Giants, he was 70 of 127 for 840 yds. an average of 280 yds. a game. Imagine what his passing totals would be if he could improve on his comp. pct. In this offense you're looking at a guy capable of passing for 4,400 + a season. |

I find it hilarious that you are posting in one thread about our QB being top 3 worst at his position, with no stats to back it up, yet in another thread are pumping up a CB (d hall), who statistically has rated as one of the worst CBs in the league, as one of the "better CBs in the league". The logic on some fans is mind boggling. |

I know that wasn't your point, but you are becoming like GusFrerotte with your anti-DHall posts. That being said, I think it'd be ridiculous to call Rex one of the top 3 worst QBs in the league. Sh*t, the guy took a team to the Super Bowl. He didn't carry the Bears, but he was good enough of a manager to get them there. |

Haha I could've sworn it didn't say worst in there when I read it, hence my response. It feels good to be vindicated. As for DeAngelo, he'll always be a polarizing figure. I'm okay with the fact that he gives up plays, because he makes as many plays as he tends to miss. Some people just don't put a premium on guys who make plays, they'd rather have our Gregg Williams defense, where even though we were top 10 statistically, we didn't have any consistent playmakers. |

Up until we signed him (meaning recent history), we were hardly causing any turnovers. Turnovers change games, and DeAngelo causes most turnovers between his INTs and not to mention the occasional strips/fumbles he causes or recovers..... |

Unless you are a Bears fan, I doubt you watched much of Grossman that year, and just are talking about ESPN highlights. You just want to jump on the HATE REXY bandwagon. I'd rather have a more disciplined CB at the position. As I said, I'm done talking about D. Hall. Revisit my thread if you must. |

Rex Grossman is famous for turnovers, like Jay Cutler, Jay Cutler threw 4 ints in a single game to D-Hall. Rex and Jay also have played for the Bears |
Re: Rex reporting for duty!
My point was, how about we get back to talking about Rexy?

Like Donovan McNabb's amazing and unique dirt balls, Rex Grossman has the uncanny and unique ability to toss some of the so-called best "WTF WAS THAT?!!" turnovers.

One of my best friends is a Bears fan and we use to go to his place every Sunday and watch the NFL package. And I use to have to watch some of those games (during, before, or after the Skins game). He looked like he was shaving points in some of those games as bad as his INTs looked. He looks way better in our system but I'll never forget how bad he looked in 2006. |

I view Rex as this teams floor. Beck has more potential with his work ethic, mobility, and leadership however he's still unproven and if I had to be safe I'd take Grossman over Beck. Does that make sense? |
