Yeah it's crazy to think Rogers is already 30. Dude's only been in the league 6 years. It's safe to say he's not going to get better than he already is, whereas the upside with Wilson is plenty.

IMO I consider a bust to be someone picked high and JaMarcus Russell'd it. I think Rogers is a severe underachiever. I mean, he did have some good playing time, not great but good, other than he couldn't catch.

yeah i don't think he was a bust because he was able to play and start in the nfl, he was just over valued at the draft

People are right to get on him about the dropped INTs. It's his job to make those interceptions and there are absolutely no excuses to why he's dropped the ones he's had. Absolute game changers (or game enders in cases) had he just held onto the ball. His interviews how he describes himself being up there with the elite CBs, except for the interceptions. Well duh Carlos, that's because the elite guys make those plays. Hell, even the scrub guys make those plays.

The pay he just got reflects his value on the open market. I imagine he's humbled as hell right now and should be working on hand/eye coordination right now instead of worrying about what's going on in the local clubs and what your teammate is being paid.

For those that are saying Rogers was a bust, I seriously disagree. He started since his rookie year. He was not a top cb but was in the next tier IMO. He had some bad times w/double moves & we all know about the drops.

Drafts are all relative. Don't compare him to Champ Bailey, who is one of the all time greats. Instead, compare him to the others in his class. Two CBs were picked ahead of him; Pacman Jones & Antrell Rolle. He was a better cb than both. Rolle has become a decent safety but wasn't much of a cb for a top 10 pick.

Rogers is absolutely not a bust. But he's certainly not one of the game's elites either. Never has been, probably never will be.

He's already start semi-bashing the team, talking about how they don't keep their own...yet he has no issue going to a team that just let Aubrayo Franklin and Nate Clements walk.

I wish him well, but his time here was long past its expiration date

Anyways, good riddance to Rogers, one of my least favorite Redskins of recent time.. His ego far out paced his talent and production. I never got why he had so many supporters. He was beaten, benched, quit (IMO in 2009) and never took any responsibility. Kick rocks Carlos, enjoy the Bay.

In the sense at least that some of my least favorite Redskins of all time are still on the team.

At least we'll go five and eleven this year with a team of "good guys", completely free of those divas that contribute to teams winning games.

Well hell you could find 100's of picks around number 7 that would show he was not a bust. As far as his ego I always fell WR and CB need that for some reason. I also think that our D's problems last year hurt him as much as anything.

The 49ers have really had one of the worst offseasons of any team. They needed a QB, so they re-signed Alex Smith for a 5th chance. Maybe Harbaugh can finally get him to succeed, but there were better options out there. They lost a solid NT and CB...and really have not added anyone of real impact, Rogers included. They subtracted a lot more than they added, but they did it without being in cap trouble like Dallas...it's like they're trying to make Jim Harbaugh's job tougher. :D

Also, Crabtree is out 4-6 weeks with a foot injury and Gore wants paid and WAS holding out. If not for the new holdout fines, he'd be neutering that team.

I expect to see Kaepernick under center by the time we play them in Week 9.

I agree that they are taking backwards steps for this year.

But looked at charitably, these might be the first steps in the long process of roster overhaul by the new regime. It is hard to judge a successful long-term turnover by just the first steps.

I'm not saying that they will be successful, just trying to view the 9ers charitably.

I'm disappointed to see him walk out the door with such bitterness, because I'm always going to have somewhat of a soft spot for most of the players on that 2005 roster, Carlos included, even if his most notable play that season was the dropped pick against the Seahawks. Getting six consecutive years of solid work from a player in one uniform isn't so common anymore, and for that reason my own appreciation for him grew each year. As I said, I'm sorry he was so pi**ed at the end of his stay. I also wish him well.

His best year of play was in 2008, which he HAD to put in the work due to rehab. His coverage has dropped from that level since then, and I would say is slightly above average.

And of course, he likes to make the team play with fire with his drops. And YES, we have been BURNED by some of those drops.

Seems to me Rodger didn't think the lack of interceptions was a big thing and didn't like the fact that he wasn't treated like a shut down corner by Washington. He just had a higher opinion of himself than anyone around the league did.

Rogers apparently lied about not wanting to come back to DC because the reports were this week that his agent contacted Washington about a contract a few days ago. So much for his bravado about not wanting to return.

Then the parting shot about the Redskins being big spenders and not wanting to resign their own players.

Wrong again Carlos. Jammal Brown, Phillip Buchanon, Santana Moss, HB Blades, Byron Westbrook, and now Rex Grossman were ALL resigned by the team for 2011.

I think this was the right move unfortunately, it was at the wrong time...With Philip Buchanon out for the first 4 games, this poses a problem in our secondary. Truth be told, we may have won or at least contended if Carlos Rodgers didn't have butterfingers. He may have lead the NFL two out of the last three seasons in INT's.

Does anyone know why the Redskins are 30 million under the cap??? Seems trivial to me. I thought they would do better in free agency.

Carlos Rogers is not an elite coverage player, but he's just a rung below that level. He has long been a poor match-up against bigger, more physical players who can obstruct his path to the ball. Luckily, that kind of player tends not to get vertical very fast.

I really thought he was going to get a deal. There are tons of teams that were/now are in need of a corner, most notably Detroit, Oakland, Houston, Tennessee, Jacksonville, San Fransico, Seattle, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas and Arizona. Lots more could use him. I figured someone would bite.

he was a good cover corner for sure .. would have been a pro-bowler but has hands like a freaking brick you ALL know that .. just when he sucks you back in with his good play he would drop a ball right in his hands that could have WON games ... how about Dallas Week 1 last year, didn't he have a ball right off his hands before the holding call to Orakpo to seal it ???? Deangelo Hall MAKES PLAYS that's why he is elite, he may miss tackles and blow plays but he MAKES up for it by taking INT's to the house on a weekly basis ... Hall had a better game in Chicago then Rogers had in his career ... good bye Los .. your frustration has finally left the building ... with all the pressure Orakpo and Kerrigan will be bringing, Hall/Wilson/Landry each will have over 4 picks

The lack of desire for him to resign here had less to do with his playing abilities than it did his personality. His pipes spew venom, the team is being constructed with more and more young players who can very well do without that in their locker room.

This post answers the question for any Redskin fan who thinks Carlos Rogers is anything better than an average NFL starter.

An above average NFL corner on the open market always gets paid in todays NFL.

ALWAYS.

Dude got a one year four million dollar deal. That is AWFUL and this is the reality of how the entire league looks at him.

This is a good lesson for fans who wonder why the Redskins have been so freakin bad for so long. Our roster has been filled with average at best players that we somehow see as a step below elite.

Not saying I don't do it all the time as I tend to eat a ton of Redskins "Happy Place" pills and therefore I usually think we are going to win the Super Bowl every year.
