You guys are way too optimistic........................

Bad:
Orakpo doesn't take his game to the next level
Landry is injured for the majority of the season
Cooley and Fletcher begin to lose their dominance
Hightower gets back to his old self and finishes the season behind Torain
Trent Williams is officially a potential bust and struggles mightily
Josh Wilson/DHall combine to make one of the worst cover corner duos in the league

Good:
Carriker builds on his end of season surge and has a terrific season
Orakpo/Kerrigan combine for 20 sacks
Moss gets 10 TDs
Torain gets 1100 yards
Atogwe shines under Haslett once again
Grossman does what the majority thinks is impossible and starts 16 solid games
One of Armstrong/Gaffney emerge as a viable #1b to Moss
Haynesworth does nothing in NE
McNabb gets outperformed by Grossman
The Redskins finish 8-8 and Shanahan's second season is a great success

Re: 2011 NFL Season: Bold Predictions Thread

Vick & Young both get hurt in philly.
McNabb & the vikes fall apart early, e.g. 0-4 or 1-5. Ponder becomes the starter.

The week leading up to the trade deadline, philly is in discussions w/the vikes for a deal to bring McNabb back to Philly. With only minutes left before the deadline, McNabb demands an expense account from Pat's AND Geno's cheesteak restaurants in south philly. The deal falls through & the Philly faithful revert to traditional form in weeks to follow w/many serious fights in the stadium. The amount of fan violence is now the NFL's biggest issue.

Meanwhile the NFC east becomes mediocre, Philly bombs on expectations but still wins the div. at 9-7 & loses in the 1st round of playoffs. The Rams, Lions & Packers are the 3 best teams in the nfc.

San diego upsets #1 seed NE in playoffs but loses to Pitt. Superbowl is a rematch of last year but Pitt. wins.

Michael Vick will miss at least 6 games.

Jon Kitna will play more games than Romo. Dallas will finish in last place, edging out the Giants by one loss.

Redskins will win the NFC East, 11-5. Eagles will finish 9-7. NJ will be 7-9 and Dallas does the 6-10 dance again.

Donovan McNabb will be benched by Week 6.

Lions will win the NFC North.

Panthers will earn another #1 pick.

John Beck will have more TD passes than Eli Manning and Alex Smith combined.

Re: 2011 NFL Season: Bold Predictions Thread

First off, I love this thread, and although I am normally more of a lurker then poster, I have decided to get in on some of this....

Redskins Predictions
1. John Beck and Rex Grossman each start at least 6 games
2. Skins finish in the Top 10 in rushing, Helu leads the team with 900 yards
3. Terrance Austin leads the team in Receiving Yards
4. Ryan Kerrigan has finishes with more sacks then Orakpo
5. Skins finish 7-9, losing 5 games by less then a touchdown, mostly do to an inability to pick a starting quarterback, agonizing Skins fans for another season.

NFL Predictions
1. Arian Foster and Chris Johnson combine for 800 rushing yards
2. 49ers, Panthers and Bills win 8 games combined
3. The Bears finish last in the NFC North, one year after being in the NFC Championship
4. Mike Kafka makes at least one start for the Eagles
5. Peyton Manning wins the MVP, starting all 16 games
6. Danny Amendola leads the league in receptions
7. Kevin Kolb makes the pro bowl
8. Philip Rivers breaks the the single season passing yardage record (5,137)
9. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers win the South
10. James Harrison doesn't get fined one time this season

Some of my bold predictions.

1) Eagles miss the playoffs and Andy Reid is fired as head coach.

2) Cowboys will miss the playoffs again. (not really bold, but it makes me feel good)

3) Redskins finish second in the NFC East and secure a wild card playoff spot.

4) Detroit ends up in the NFC Championship

5) San Diego Chargers finally make it back to the Super Bowl.

Re: 2011 NFL Season: Bold Predictions Thread

Skins go 7-9 but manage to beat either the Jets or the Pats while losing to at least 1 team we shouldn't (ie carolina, miami, etc)

Bears win their division and make the Super Bowl. GB and Det are the NFC wildcards.

Texans win the AFC south but lose early in the playoffs.

Jets beat Chicago in the super bowl.

Tony Sparano takes off his sunglasses and reveals he has cat eyes, like The Nightman.

Haynesworth plays in at least 12 games for NE and doesn't look half bad.

And my boldyest prediction - 97% of my predictions actually come true.

Rob Ryan is fired after Dallas gives up 28PPG.

Browns will finish Second in the AFC North.
Jaguars win AFC South, Titans finish 2-14.

Tim Tebow is traded for a 5th rounder to buffalo.

Giants win NFC East, with the redskins second. No playoffs.

The Redskins and Rams play in the NFC Championship

The Ravens go 4-12;

Hightower leads the NFL in total yards from scrimmage;

Vick is benched by the 9th game based on his poor play (i.e. benching is not injury related).

The Pats go 3-13.

Jammal Charles is flop.

Thank you, Lotus.

If it all goes to plan the winnings will immediately offset the cost incurred by the trip to Super Bowl XLVI.
