No Riley or Fox? Surprised RT @john_keim white said he was 1 of 3 backup olb's, along with lorenzo and rob jackson, who made it. #redskins apparently Rick Maese doesnt realize that Riley and Fox are ILB's lol |

I do think they keep both Riley and Fox. But what about Rocky? I still can't believe Rocky is starting, he's still not a good fit for the ILB spot. |
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
yeah he's since followed up. We're keeping 9 LB's.

And apparently we are keeping 16 wide receivers. |

Orakpo, Fletcher, Kerrigan, White, Jackson, Alexander, and Rocky, Riley, and Fox? I mean I don't think I'd have as big a problem with Rocky if it wasn't the fact that he is starting. He's not good in space, he doesn't rush the passer, I don't even understand why they resigned him. Trade bait? I don't even think he'd be worth much in a trade, and they're clearly not happy with Riley starting. Maybe put Fox in as the starter? He made and missed his share of plays this preseason but I do think he'd be a better starter than Rocky. |

Austin better be a "roster lock" and I would wager that he is. |

For those asking, WR Terrence Austin participated in today's #Redskins practice and is still on the team. |

We're apparently seeing what teams might be interested in offering us for TA
|
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
Pats released Brandon Tate as well. I wonder if Stallworth might be an option for NE?

It better be good. I'm no coach but I wouldn't take a late round pick for TA at all. If it's a player it better be a young talented player with much upside, stuck on talent laden roster where they wouldn't be getting any pt. But the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Right now it's safe to say we have plenty of talent at wide receiver, and we're not as good depth wise at other positions, like offensive line. |

Re: Redskins Final Cuts
Surprised White made it. Macintosh is solid, to all the nay-sayers.
|
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
so who's going to be our back up guards since we're trying to trade Artis Hicks? Is Erik Cook going to be a G/C backup for us?
I think it's stupid that we'd try to trade Terrence Austin. If we trade anyone it should be hankerson or stallworth or Brandon Banks. |

Rich_Campbell Rich Campbell
Seventh-round rookie NT Chris Neild tells me he made the 53-man roster. #Redskins |

Re: Redskins Final Cuts
If Paul is cut, I think there is a good chance he clears waivers and we can put him on the PS. He has shown good things, but really hasn't played all that often to garner that much attention.
|
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
That makes 8 rookies, not including Jenkins on the team. Boy, we got kinda young in a hurry.
|
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
Per Russell, Anthony Bryant released.

Yeah this is interesting.. i thought neild would be ps for sure |
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
I know they won some pre-season games but, I'm still a bit nervous about the makeup of this team overall.

Niles Paul? he has already made the team |
Neild over Bryant is a stunner. Wonder if they make a play for Balmer
|
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
Mike Sellers and Donte Stallworth make the team according to Kelly Johnson
Very Very surprised about Bryant |
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
Neild over Bryant is a stunner. Wonder if they make a play for Balmer
That's a total stunner. Also, with Paul, Hankerson, and Banks all reportedly on the 53 man, and Stallworth also reportedly making it, does that mean 8 WR's? That's an awful lot. |
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
As I have said all along, Banks is not a WR. He hasn't taken a snap at WR all preseason. He's a KR and shouldn't count amongst the WR's.
That said, 7 WR's is still one too many. As to Nield, as much as he was my late round man crush, I am worried about him at No.2 NT. From what I saw, he played way too high and got pushed around a bit. Hopefully, coaches are seeing something I am not. |
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
I thought for sure Bryant was a lock, it is indeed very shocking.

Your aren't the only one buddy. I am still very pleased as to what we are doing here. I am not sold on the team, there are still major areas of need, but we are officially rebuilding and this is part of the process. We could not completely revamp the whole team in one offseason. BUT it has begun. I am totally and fully on board with the program as a fan. |

He is also the kind of guy who is going to do what ever it takes to stay on this team. |

I agree - but, at this point, he seems a huge drop off from Cofield. A year on the PS would have been a real benefit IMHO. |

Agreed, he is no Cofield. There may have been interest from other teams and that would have procluded us from stashing him on the PS. Haslett I would think would be the coach who made the call to keep him. There must be something they all saw. |
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
So, right now, who are the back ups on OL?
Cook apparently have made it - who else? Locklear? Hicks to be traded/cut, Hurt to the PS. |
Re: Redskins Final Cuts
with Russell and Horton cut, Im guessing Gomes is in...maybe even Doughty:(
