It was a stupid thing, bush league thing to do. I hope his brothers in D iterated that to him...... |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
I don't have a problem with hall's statement . Romo will be targeted in the midsection all year , besides , you can't go for the head or knees . As for as Jones , geez , just sneeze on him and he gets hurt .

Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
The real news here is that D. Hall claims he's planning to hit somebody on a football field. That would be a first if he actually does it. I wouldn't worry too much if I were Tony Romo.
Miss the Giants game? |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
I don't have a problem with him saying it.
But I'm gonna venture a guess that he was just saying what every Skins player/fan was thinking. "Someone please knock Romo out of the game." Was it smart of him to say that prior to a MNF game? Probably not. If it really needed to be said at all. Is it what I'm hoping will happen during the MNF game? Definitely so. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
So am I correct that people are complaining about a Redskins playing saying that he's going to hurt a Cowboys player? When did this become an issue for Redskins fans? Last time I check, this was supposed to be a rivalry.

I'd lean toward yes. Seems people still don't want to give D.Hall credit for sticking his nose in on physical tackles. |

This is what I'm saying. It's a rivalry game and a Romo said he's gonna play injured and basically doesn't give an F about getting back to 100%. I don't think the Skins should be trying to splatter his brains on the field. But they should definitely not be trying to put some pattycake hits on him and play nice because he's playing hurt. |

You are correct and I will give you that, but I can't help but feel from my point of view we've had two weeks of no bs in the media, no dumb stories distracting our lockerroom, just guys going in puttin' in work and going out and playing great games, and now we see that one of the most turbulent Redskins is saying unnecessary things in the media about things we already know. It's not the fact that he's gonna go out there and occasionally try to hit Romo in the ribs to knock him out, I just wish he was saying that to anybody but the media. Same with Orakpo too, but to a lesser extent. We don't need to go into the game with a bulls eye on our backs, which is what all this talking creates. And also, our recent track record shows that we have a hard time walking the walk after we talk the talk. Now this team could be different, but all it does is put added pressure on us to perform and back it up. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
D Hall is a dumb-ass. I don't care who thinks otherwise. In the NFL, the one sure way to lose is to get the other team fired up by talking a bunch of smack. I've been a fan of the game too long to not notice.
Everybody remembers the "body bag" game - does anyone remember what we did to the Eagles when we met them in the playoffs? What goes around, comes around. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
Basically what Mooby said. We've had so few distractions this year (for once). We've just been shutting up and doing our jobs (by we I mean them of course), and so far we're undefeated

I complain, mainly because I want to see it on the field. Personally, as I said before, our last MNF game - against the eagles last year - lingers in my mind. I even imagine the MNF crew will remind the national audience of what happened last time we were on. And part of my mind remembers the LL and Hall were talking trash before that and we know how it went. Play the game, show it on the field, and talk smack afterwards! |

Hall is as turbulent as some fans paint him to be, but I do agree that he is that. However, my point was that more of the complaints here are because it was him saying that, and of course the media is making it a big deal (because this is a big rivalry). I could be wrong, but I heard a number of times during the Cards/Skins game that Darnell Dockett was upset because alledgedly Hightower had guaranteed a win. Since TH is a new Redskins and it wasn't a big rivalry game, this wasn't hyped up by the media and no one mentioned this here. If D. Hall had said something like that, there would have been a 2000-post thread about it. In my book, D. Hall or anyone saying they are going to bust Romo's ribs is not anywhere close to the circus that Haynesworth or McNabb were last year. Found some links about the Hightower story... I completely agree. That game haunts me, because I was a fan during Gibbs 1 and in those days, we settled scores on the field. We stood up and punched the bad guys in the mouth. "Chicago ready, if Redskins show up." I'll never forget that article. It came out before the 86 playoff game at soldier field. Chicago was 14-2, and we beat the living crap out of them. Gibbs hung that article up for the players to see. We did that a lot in those days....we made the bad guys pay!
I personally don't think that D. Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
2nd Qtr Hall ints Romo then as Romo try to save a TD Hall lower his head and hits him right in the ribs. Int, knocks Romo out of game, and a TD all in one play.

Complete non-story. This stuff happens all the time.

It's the Redskins vs. Cowboys on Monday Night. It's a big deal. That said, I don't notice "the media" making an extra big deal out of this

Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
It is a dumb thing to say and will probably be a dumb thing to do in reality. Why do I say that? Romo is the Dallas golden boy. Like it or not Dallas and Oakland sell a lot of merchandise outside of their respective markets, and Romo is the poster boy for one of those lucrative markets. Remember the NFL front office gets a big wad of $$$$$$$$$$ from anything that sells with that NFL shield on it, and they want to see Dallas at least stay somewhat competitive to keep those Romo jerseys selling. If D. Hall goes for Romo's ribs, you can expect the yellow hankies to come out often. How Romo goes, Dallas goes.

Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
The NFL is going to protect Romo at all costs. A revenue generator, can't be put in jeopardy!!!!!! Anything that looks like a cheap shot to the ribs is going to be called. You can count on it.

Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
OMG. I'm watching "No Huddle" on the NFL Network and OMG. I don't think the love fest for Romo can get any thicker. It's sooo sickening. All four of the announcers were like ex-girlfriends who didn't want to break up.
"Oh he's soo awsome" "Oh and the way he came back out and led his team to victory" "Oh and how he played hurt" "Oh and he's got to be the best QB in history" "Oh and I'd like to clean the track stains out of his underwear" Ok I added the last one but they might as well have said that also. |

As long as it's not a late hit there's nothing that can be called. |

I mean this has all the makings of a WWE storyline. Choke artist one week, tough guy hero two weeks later, with the bad boy saying he is going to try and put the hurt on Romo. Watch Romo come out fine and torch our asses, and the the Boys are the shit on NFL Gameday, Fox, etc. The interest in the Skins is going up regardless. I think the NFL is worried about their cash cow in the Boys, so the perfect storybook ending is being set up for MNF. You know something is up when Schrager from NFL.com has the Boys winning 33-20, even with all of those guys out/ banged up. |

Want to make a bet? Anything that can be stretched out will be called. It is subjective Matty, thus it is the ref's discretion. How many phantom or half assed calls have you seen in your lifetime, but they stuck. |

Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
This was pretty much what all four guys were saying about Romo
NFL.com news: Sapp credits Romo's gutsy play, says time to reel in Bryant
If Romo failed to win over his detractors outside the team's circle -- there's no question what his play did inside.

"The simple fact that he's even going with a punctured lung, are you kidding me?" Sapp said. "With a broke rib, that hurts to breath. Are you kidding me? Being able to call plays, and run, and exert himself -- nah, I'm rallying around my quarterback.

- oh, my goodness, you have to take your hat off to the man. He went out and made plays. ... When you make plays under that type of situation, you get two checks in my book."
Trust me it was worse with Irvin. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
I mean this could mean nothing, but just trying to hype up the MNF game itself, but the implied storyline seems to be ready to make Romo a real football hero, when he is in fact a chump. A guy with a punctured lung has no business on the football field in the first place, so that in itself tells me something isn't totally kosher about it. I do hope AH or Kerrigan cuts the bastard in half, but I know they will get flagged for it probably, even if it wasn't late.

Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
I don't mind it at all.
Not that Hall will necessarily be going against the o-line but there are a couple rookie linemen on that team. Get them real nervous about protecting Romo and ater they get beat a couple times, their confidence will be shot. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
Romo seemed fine during his interview inside the NFL, he didn't look like he was dying or anything. He'll play.
*Update- they showed Tony getting up from the chair after the interview and he looked like was 100 years old or that was some damn good acting. I guess will stay tuned. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
this faggotry media circus, in my fear, is going to come thru the.most thru the @#$ damn refs .... I will be furious as hell if this game starts to go the way of that one in "Remember. the Titans
