Hell yeah he did. He sees that ship sinking...why jump on? |
Re: Redemption Week!!
This is a great thread! All week I have been listening to NFL radio and no one I have heard has brought up the fact that this is a revenge game for us. I am sure everyone who was on the team when we got demolished on Monday night in front of a national audience circled this game the day the schedules came out!
We are a well coached team and have had an extra week for film study / preparation. that being said, we should be able to figure a way to catch N.A. out of position once or twice. Plus, everyone knows that Torain is the perfect RB to go against the eagles right now. I'm talking SMASH MOUTH football!!! To me, the key to the game will be keeping their O off the field and NOT letting Vick escape the pressure (because there will be pressure) and extend plays or make plays with his legs. I believe their O has too many play makers for us to assign a spy, so we will just have to be very disciplined. I hope the coaches have played last years game for the team as a motivational tool this week! |
Re: Redemption Week!!
LOL what is Mangenius doing with Condi Rice? Bow chicka wow woww....
|
Re: Redemption Week!!
The one thing I am most hopeful for is a solid game by Kerrigan and Orakpo in terms of containing (and smashing) Vick. The one thing I know I won't see is anyone on this team lying on the ground if Vick does get out loose
|
Re: Redemption Week!!
This will be a VERY hard game to win. Dirty Birds are desperate.
But if we can pull off the W, we'll officially move from "feel good story" to "legit division contenders". Big game. |

However the more I think about how "desperate" the iggles will be to win this game, the more I think we will be just as desperate to prove that we are a top tier NFC team! I can see our D selling out on every single play and forcing Vick into multiple turnovers. We have, what?, 3 picks so far this season? I would like to see us double that number this week! |
Re: Redemption Week!!
Rex has gotta back his words this week
|
Re: Redemption Week!!
I'm saying skins 24 eagirls 17. Rex throws two to moss, and torain gets a rushing Td. Im not trying to spam but if anyone is interested I have a youtube channel talking about the redskins. check it out. The account is the same as my name on this site.

Re: Redemption Week!!
I just want to see good play calling from both the offense and the defense. Especially with the offense, I want us to exploit the Iggles offensive line. I don't want to see this whole three straight passes crap we've seen a couple of times.

The Eagles are not going to be an easy out by any means. They're a wounded animal right now- dangerous. They can score on anyone. All they have to do is clean up those turnovers. We're going to really have to establish the run and pound, pound, pound. Chew clock and keep it out of the hands of their offense. I've heard plenty of people this week around town just assuming we're going to kick their asses. I don't think so. This is a massive game, and I'm nervous. We haven't been able to deliver a knockout punch to a team in 20 years. We can effectively take all meaning out of the rest of Eagles season if we beat them, and more importantly we can seriously derail the entire direction of their franchise (well they're already hanging by a thread, we just need to cut it). What an opportunity. |

I don't think Moss is going to have a good game... Philly's shut down Roddy White, Stevie Johnson and Hakeem Nicks. |
In a way I fear that we will shut Vick and the Eagles down in the first half and Young or Kafka will step in and the team will rally around them.
But then the other side of me says, while he denies it, Shanahan is reminding them everyday of 59-28 as Gibbs did after the bodybag game and just before we beat them in the playoffs |
Re: Redemption Week!!
Like GMScud posted....MAN does this game have some implications. Sort of our coming out party IF we do not piss the bed. It will mean much one way or the other as to the progress of the team...rebuild.
BUT, it Ain't gonna' come easy as we will be going against a junkyard dog with it's back against the wall. If the E's have any pride left (and they do) we will be getting EVERYTHING they have to give. It is must...MUST win for them! Pound the rock, control the clock, keep the pressure off Rex, smart AGGRESSIVE D and we can take this. Get sloppy...I don't even want to think. HTTR! |
Re: Redemption Week!!
if we win this game we will win the EAST IMO, thats how huge this one is folks, if we lose then I'll say we aren't ready for that leap yet
|
Re: Redemption Week!!
I want our pass rush to show up against that supposedly shitty O-line. Haslett has no excuse now. He better plagarize Perry Fewell's strategy at stomping Vick or else his head is going in that vice and getting squeezed.
|
Re: Redemption Week!!
We are in the top 10 in sacks I believe, so we will bring the pressure dont worry
|
We win if we do 3 things that we forget to do sometimes. 1- put a leash on Dirty 30 so he plays smart and doesn't hulk out and blow coverage. D will hold to 17 points if he does that. 2-Run the ball with Night Train Torain early. Get him good and pissed and point him towards a linebackers face. 3-Rex plays mistake free. The first 2 are easy. The 3rd has me losing sleep at night.
|
Re: Redemption Week!!
Philly is off to a much worse start than the 2000 Redskins. While the Skins had a good-looking 3-2 five weeks into the season, the Sheagles are off to an absolutely pathetic start. lol

BTW....Rex is due for some smooth sailing. Banks is due.......

Rex and smooth sailing aren't words that go together all that often but we can hope! I think no Trent Cole helps us out as Rex is far better at not making mistakes when he has a clean pocket. As for Banks something has looked off with him, hope its not the knee as we need him to improve our field position! |

You can't expect any player to respond nicely to a comment that his team is playing dumb, no matter how true it might be. |
Re: Redemption Week!!
I can't wait for this game. The anticipation is really killing me. The more I think about it the more I am concerned this will be a Skins let down. Especially with the way everyone is lining up against Philly. I hope we destroy them and put this crap to rest. If we do, it shows we are a mentally strong group.
|
Re: Redemption Week!!
I, of course, want us to win. My bigger concern with a loss wouldn't be the loss itself but the fear that it starts a downward spiral
|

HTTR![/quote]Spot on. If KS opens with 5 PA passes again....it could be a long day. We must committ to the run, when Philly puts 8 in the box to stop it, PA up top or use TE mismatches. Defensively, pressure Vick, he will make mistakes. Not Cover 0 pressure, Zone Blitz, vary coverages, make Vick read and throw quickly. Keep pressure off the edge from his left as much as possible. We do those things and we'll have a good day. |
Re: Redemption Week!!
I'm expecting us to open with several passes.
|
Re: Redemption Week!!
I agree we should focus on the run, but not taking opportunities in the air would be foolish. Opening with PA passes isn't the worst idea ever either, as Philly may be anxious to get a quick 3 and out stuffing the run. 5 PAs might be a bit much, but PA passes mixed with screens and runs wouldn't be the end of the world.

Re: Redemption Week!!
I picked the iggles to bounce back last week - they didn't. To me that means that they're either due to get it together this week or they are on the verge of total collapse. This really is a must win for them. To make the playoffs after a 1-5 start would be miraculous.
Objectively, I would pick the iggles again. Vick will be amped to play close to home & he usually does well at fedex. Don't want him to get hurt, but if he does our chances shoot up IMO. |

Re: Redemption Week!!
I'm heading down to DC for the game and am very excited. Let's hope those Eagles fans are so depressed about the 1-4 start that they are unwilling to comb StubHub for tickets this year. A couple of observations:
1) Return of Darrel Young (currently practicing full-go) will be huge. He blocks those stretch plays well and allows the Skins to run the offense they want, not just the offense they have the healthy personnel for. 2) Hoping Anthony Armstrong returns to the field this week; looks like he is still recovering from the hammy. He will keep those corners honest. 3) Everyone is talking about the potential for a bounce-back game by the Eagles. I agree that it is a legit concern. This is why the Redskins need to draw blood (on both the offensive and defensive end) early. I'm looking for points on the Skins' first possession and a sack on Vick/a stop on the Eagles' first possession. |
Re: Redemption Week!!
Bottomline, we all know we need to lean on our running game, but in order to win Rex needs to play well.
If he plays like his last couple games, we lose and we lose bad. |

This is right on target Smoot. I have stated in earlier threads that this game will set the tone and/or be the deciding factor for the direction of the Redskins for rest of the season. This is a must win game for us. |
Re: Redemption Week!!
To me it's not so much about how many passes we throw at the beginning. A few passes to get them to respect the pass might not be a bad thing.
But when the game is done, I want to see that we've run the ball at least 35 times. |
Re: Redemption Week!!
Does anyone happen to remember a game that the patriots played against the steelers early in like 2002 or 2003, where they opened the game with like 20 straight passes? took them totally by surprise. I am not saying we should do that, just saying Philly has probably been game planning for stopping the run from the get-go and we might be able to surprise them early with a vertical attack or two.
I am probably over thinking it, and we should just line up and knock their D line and Lbs on their butts! |

"No, that's not true," Reid said Wednesday. "I didn't offer it to anybody. That was all fabricated. "I wasn't in touch with anybody. Nobody, nothing, zero." Mangini, who now does NFL analysis for ESPN, reportedly turned down the offer Reid says he never made. Hmmmm... |
Re: Redemption Week!!
I have to imagine MS is still pissed about the running up of the score. I hope there is a nice game plan in place and that it works out as planned. I seriously hope MS returns the favour and runs up the score on them just to let them see how it feels and to take control of the NFCE while putting distance between the other NFCE teams.
