Why? |
Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
Andrew Luck is an incredible qb. However, he's not the only great qb in this draft. I think it's 6 guys that's could be drafted in the first round. You have Landry Jones, Matt Barkley, RG3, Nick Foles, and Ryan Tannehill. Now I'm not sold all of these guys but I would much rather draft one of them before I trade away this draft and the next for Luck.
1) Landry Jones has great size, accuracy, good arm strength, and decent mobility. He's a really good qb. I think he would fit in well here like most of the qbs in this draft. My only problem with Jones is that he's inconsistent at times. 2) Matt Barkley isn't great at anything but he's solid at everything. He has average size, good arm strength, good accuracy, good decision making, and good mobility. When I look at this kid play I see a guy who can consistently make all of the throws. He will be a good qb at he next level in my opinion. I think he's a better fit for our offense than Landry Jones, but not as good as RG3 or Tannehill. 3)RG3 is the truth. I really, really do like this kid. He has average size, great accuracy, good arm strength, great decision making, and great mobility. I think that this kid is one of the best players in this draft. Out of all the qbs he fits our system better than any of them. His team has been overwhelmed this year at times, but he still performs at a high level. Even yesterday he team was completely outmatched on both sides of the ball and he stilll manage to pass over four hundred yards while completing 66% of his passes. It wasn't a great day but any means but it showed just how good of a passer he is. When he gets in the nfl and gets it. This kid is a probowl qb. I just don't think he's ready to start right away. He needs a year to really learn the our system. 4) Nick Foles is guy I like a lot. He has great size, great accuracy, good arm strength, and decent mobility. He's shown the ability to carry his team on his back. He would be a good pick for us at qb. The only thing is he will not be ready to start day one. 5) Ryan Tannehill is a interesting guy. I'm not sold on him like the first 4 prospects, but I think this guy has a lot of physical tools. I think he's good size, good accuracy, great mobility, and good decision making. I don't want us to draft him but he is very talented. He would fit in here because of his mobility and accuracy. I just think it's better options in this draft. 6) I really do like Kellen Moore. He's accuracy, smart, and a true leader. If he was a few inches taller and had a little more arm strength he would be a top 5 pick. This guy is an amazing player. I hope he gets a shot somewhere. I wouldn't be against the SKins drafting him as long as it's in the mid rounds. In my opinion there are a lot of great options for us at qb. There is no reason for us to give up everything for Andrew Luck when we got like 5 guys that could come in and light it up in our offense. We have multiple needs on both the defense and offensive side of the ball. If we don't get the number one pick I would say Luck is out of the question. I would love to have him, but not at the price that it's going to take to get him. |
Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
I haven't sen tannehill. Moore and RGIII are good for us though because they are so consistently good and accurate. They both understand the game well and use that to their advantage. Hope we pick them up.
|
Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
Yeah, there's a lot to like about Tannehill. Lack of experience is a concern. But I wouldn't mind if we got him in a later round.
RG3 has been amazing this season even in losses. If we draft a guy in the first round I hope it's RG3. I feel bad for Kellen Moore because I believe he is really one of the best qbs in this draft. His size and arm strength will keep him from being a first round pick. If we can draft both of them I would all for it.

we might be able to get moore in the 4th or 5th if he drops

Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
I got a question for you skin fans
Would you trade future first round picks to get Andrew Luck, and if you would whats the most you would trade for him? |
Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
If Luck, Barkley, Foles or RGIII are available when we pick in the 1st round I want the Skins to pick one of them.
If that doesnt happen then if Jones, Tannehill, or Moore are available in the 2nd round I want the Skins to pick one of them I cant watch Beck or Grossman any longer, they both need to be gone next year. Let the Rookie QB and Crompton be # 1 and # 2 next season in either order. |
Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
I got a question for you skin fans
Would you trade future first round picks to get Andrew Luck, and if you would whats the most you would trade for him?
Yes. It depends where we draft. If we draft top 10 in 2012, I would swap 2012 first rounders, throw in another 1st in 2013, and a middle rounder. Don't think that will get the pick. I think it will be 3 first rounders. |
Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
I see us borderline Top 10 pick. We still play MIA, Dall-ass at home, SEA & MINN. We will likely finish with 6-7 wins. Price tag for Luck way too high. I hope RGIII comes out and is there when we pick.

Move our spot in the first and next years number 1 and a couple more picks in a package and get the guy. |

Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
Luck was a total beast Sat. against USC. Somehow we need to try and draft this guy. He can do it all.
|
Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
we might be able to get moore in the 4th or 5th if he drops
If he drops to the forth or fifth round we have to take him even if we draft a qb in the first round. This guy is special and I think once he gets some time to learn the NFL game he's going to light it up. |

The way we played today I honest don't see us winning another game. If we get the first pick in the draft I we have to draft Luck. If we manage to pull off a few wins then RG3 is the best choice. |

I think that's a bad idea. We have way to many wholes on our team to invest so heavily in one player. Plus there are other great qbs that would be perfect for our system. |

I think the other holes this team has can be addressed in the later rounds and free agency. The Redskins need a franchise QB now that they have a LT, a decent line, and depth at RBs. So whatever first round QB the FO feels they need to get in the first round, they should do whatever it takes to get him. |

do you mean D-line? cause I'd wager 9 sacks our OL needs some work. |
do you mean D-line? cause I'd wager 9 sacks our OL needs some work.
Our o-line was terrible today, but they are also banged up. I am sure you can find depth and another starter in later rounds and free agency. My point is that we're at the stage where we just need a good qb. The other holes are not as major as they were before. |
Yeah, it's time. QB's are such a gamble high in the draft but we're gonna need a young new face of the franchise soon.

It's amazing how drafting a QB and hitting on the right one will make all those 'holes' disappear... Think about it for a second. Our defense except maybe our secondary, isn't that bad. They keep us in games. It's our offense that doesn't produce. If you have the right QB, that QB will get the ball out fast and make the right protections. As awful as our OL played today giving up 9 sacks, it's really not that bad of an OL, IF you have the right QB behind it. Our OL IMO is better than the Colts, Cowboys, Bills, Eagles, Lions, Steelers, even the patriots. It's about whose back their to get the ball out quickly, eat up the clock (for your defense to rest), slide the protection, step up in the pocket and have awareness. No defense, no matter how good it is, is going to be motivated to go out on the field and stop a team that is up 23-0, when their Offense isn't producing. None! |
Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
I've always been on the kellen moore bandwagon. im still here praying we get him.

The logic of moving up for a QB applies to anyone who Shanny deems is the future franchise QB of the team. Whether its Luck R In regards to holes, QB is far and away the biggest hole. Unfortunately, QB is the most important position on offense. |

Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
Time for a rant.
The Colts should be investigated! How can a team suck for Luck that hard and not be trying to lose? They knew that their season was lost after Peyton Manning was injured, so now it looks like they may be positioning themselves to go from 14 years with Manning at QB to a decade or more with Andrew Luck at QB. I can't hate them enough! P.S. On top of that, the Colts will probably make some sucker organization pay a king's ransom for Manning! End of rant. |

None!
I completely understand how important the qb position is to any team. A great young qb can put us in contention for 10 years. But when draft a guy high and he comes in and get hammered his first and second year his skills are irrelevant. Just take a good look at Sam Bradford. Last year he was pretty good. This year you're not seeing the same player because he's supporting cast isn't all that good outside of Jackson. It doesn't matter if he's the right guy if you don't have the right people around him he will look bad. When I look at this team before the injuries we have wholes on the QB, C, LG, RG, RT, WR, NT, ILB, and CB. This team is lacking in all of those areas. One guy will not change that. Trading away future first round picks is never a good idea because you never know what you might need in the future. There are plenty of guys at the qb position in this draft that will be great players in this league. I see no reason to over compensate for a guy where you have other guys that can also get the job done. |

Don't get me wrong, I think Luck will be great some day, but no way did the colts brass call the players to throw the season before the season even started. It just goes to show you that Manning truely is the MVP of this league. With him, perennial playoff bound team, without him, worst team in football. The part about "making some sucker organization pay a kings ransom for Manning" is totally true, and can you smell Snyder's money warming up? Guess who could be the "sucker"? Although, I would still take him, but only for a jester's ransom! he's Peyton Manning after all and has good years left in him if he can return to health, but his days are sadly numbered. Any time you can get the best QB ever to walk on your team, it's a good decision, especially one with a football IQ as sky high as his is! Even if you don't agree he's the best ever, you can't argue he's a top 10...well I suppose you could argue it, but that would be foolish. He won't leave Indy though, what better scenario for the Colts is getting Luck to simmer on the bench for 2 years and learn all Peyton knows, then take over like Rogers did in Green Bay. Rogers is amazing because he got to watch one of the all time greats and learn from him...if the Colts were smart, they would take Luck and let him develop on the bench. |

End of rant.
I've went in depth about it on another thread, but don't worry. Peyton is not coming back. He has played his last down in the NFL. Let's say hypothetically he tries to comes back, is somehow able to pass a team physical, and is going to play again. The colts are either going to ask him to take a lower salary now that Andrew Luck is on the team (again, hypothetically!!), and they tell him that their plan is for Peyton to play one more year and tutor Luck. If Peyton refuses, then the Colts will tell him that they will try and trade him and his contract to someone else and wish him well. Keep in mind, he will not be allowed to work out with the team while this is going on. #2 Peyton does come back, agree to a lower salary, and basically puts his quality of life on the line to play one more season with muscle spasms in his back, and lingering nerve damage that has cut the strength of his throwing arm in half, leaving him fragile to take a huge hit. I like Peyton and I hope he does not do this to his body for what may not even be one more full season. He is a smart guy and he is made to be in the coaches box or on the sideline as an offensive coordinator. I just couldn't fathom Manning coming back at 50% of what he was, almost a shell of a QB really.... |

Manning will be back as long as he's cleared medically

There are some pretty good qbs in the 2012 draft other than Luck.

Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
I wouldn't give up anything for Andrew Luck when you have all these other great options at qb. It's no brainer if we are in position to draft him we take him. However, I see no good reason to trade away multiple high picks for this guy when it's other great qbs in this draft that can get the job done.

I'm not going to lie. I Wouldn't be surprising to me at all, if Barkley And/Or Griffin ended up being better than Luck. I feel like I'm going to be seeing the '04 draft all over again. (The real question/hope is that Both Barkley and Griffin declare, because I wouldn't be surprised if Barkley stayed.)
Andrew Luck is going to be a great qb in this league, but so is Barkley and Griffin. When people start saying that we should trade away mulitple 1st rounders, second rounders, and possibly high profile players for this guy I have to take issue with that. Whichever one of these qbs we draft we need to some talent around them. No one does it by themselves in this league. The reason some guys like Ryan Leaf and David Carr weren't successful in this league is because they got hammered their first couple of seasons which in result shatter their confidence. We just don't need a good qb. We also need a good draft. I say stay where we are and draft the best qb available. If we pick 2nd or 3rd we can get a franchise guy. I don't thin Barkley or Griffin have anything to come back to college for. Barley have more to lose than gain by coming back. He's going to be the second player drafted. RG3 if he finishes out his last two games on a high note might have put himself in the top ten of this draft. He's been injured two of his four seasons at Baylor. He's going to get his masters, but he doesn't have to stay in college to do so. There is no doubt that both of them will declare for next Aprils draft. |
Re: Official Andrew Luck Thread
Luck is a good QB, but the hype on him is overkill. I thought Bradford got overkill last year. Luck's only quality opponents this season(USC, Oregon) made him look above average. If he played in the SEC or Big 10 even, he would get exposed even more. Get RG III, Keenum, or Moore. RG III has turned a Big 12 doormat into a real team. IF AZ was a decent team, I would say take a shot at Nick Foles, but AZ sucks. Too many options at QB to lock onto Luck.
