I know it's probably been mentioned a million times before but what frustrates me is the scoreline. We didn't deserve to score 11pts. All fluff garbage yards bumped up stats for our players and made the game look alot closer than it actually was.
49ers dominated the game from the first snap and we had no chance from the beginning. |

The O finally starts to move the ball and Trent takes us from a 1st down to something like 2 and 25. The D makes a nice stand and we then turn the ball over and they score. We had a few other plays like that and we just kept shooting ourself in the foot. |
Yes, this is exactly it. I love the youth movement that we saw yesterday but Beck being so completely inept is going to stunt the growth of all our young offensive players. Beck is NOT our future QB so why are we going to go through growing pains grooming him? Inbetween his turnovers Rex will run the offense properly and get the ball to our WR's when they are open. Rex is terrible...I never thought i would want him back in there but Beck is not even an NFL QB. His only scoring drives since he started playing are garbage time drives. It seemed like yesterday he was determined not to be sacked 10 times so
And I was there yesterday...so I saw the whole field on every play...this is not Kyle...we had open WR's all over the field. This is a QB probhe was just checking the ball down imediately before anything developed. lem...
It was shown on replay that wr's were open downfield. It's very obvious that Beck simply isn't comfortable pushing the ball downfiled. To me it just looks like he can't drive the ball into tight spots. Whatever it is I've seen enough. But not giving Kyle a pass. He has to shoulder some of the blame too. |

As with two of Grossman's picks against Philly, Davis hardly competed for the ball on Beck's pick yesterday.

Agreed...there's plenty of blame to go around. But many Redskins fans want to fire Kyle and think that our offense would suddenly improve a bunch if Mike were calling the plays. I don't believe that. And anyone calling for coaching firings 24 games into a rebuild is the equivilent of a 39 year old Dan Snyder... |

I would not say dominate either but they were definitely in control the entire game. Never did I feel like the Skins were going to win that game or threaten them. IT was basically awesome sack by Kerriagen! Then hours of 3 and outs and punts, wow so exciting! |

Davis really needs to step it up. I hope it this week it was due to his injury, but he really doesn't seem to know how to use his size and height advantage. |

Yesterday I thought Kyle had a good game calling plays. I'd like to see a few more running plays mixed in but for the most part he did well mixing things up. |
Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins vs. 49ers) (Thread is Open)
This game and the comments afterwards by Shanahan confirm we are in full rebuild mode. There is truly no reason to go back to Grossman at this point, he is who he is. While Beck has the potential to be historically bad, there's not a significant downside to letting him play out the final 10 games. The only benefit to Grossman is we may see what Hankerson, Paul and Helu can do with a middling QB.

I felt with John Beck at the helm, from snap one, I had zero confidence in him pulling out a victory.

I would give Beck one more game, but whether he starts or not has nothing to do with rebuilding. Beck is not the QB of the future and if there is a benefit to WR development with Grossman, so be it. Although I must say that regardless of who is under center, it is going to be fugly with our toughest stretch of the schedule coming up after the Miami game. |

I think that this is one reason why we have lost 4 straight. The team seems to have lost its fight and energy. It seems reasonable to presume that a lack of faith in Beck by the players might have something to do with the loss of pizzazz. I never thought that I would say it but I would like Wrecks to start. Then if/when we are eliminated, it's Crompton time! |

In the remainder of the season, the young WRs and Crompton may begin to develop some timing. We don't know what our QB situation will be next year, but it should most certainly not involve Rex & Beck. |
Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins vs. 49ers) (Thread is Open)
Guys, is there really anything there with Crompton? Or are we just really grasping?
|
Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins vs. 49ers) (Thread is Open)
I have no idea why any of you want to see Beck ever again. He can't throw a ball over 10 yards with any type of accuracy or zip, his ball wobbles, he just doesn't resemble what an NFL Qb should be. Yeah Rex is a turnover machine, but at least he gives the wr's chances. 14 catches by a RB??? Roy Helu has his name next to the great Art Monk?? (shake head)
|
Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins vs. 49ers) (Thread is Open)
We r grasping and Rex should start IMO but honestly it doesn't really matter as long as we beat Dallas I'm ok bcuz I know this team only has 5-6 wins
The scary part about all of this is the Shanahan's had Beck rated the highest on their draft the year he came out!!!!!!! If that doesn't scary you about their ability to rate passer coupled with how they basically passed on a ton of QB talent in the last draft. I have been a big believer in them but they have royal fawked up the QB position which was suppose to be their specialty.
How about Carlos Rogers, ever have a bad job then got a good job but went back to visit your friends at the bad job just to say hi and you left smiling knowing you don't have to work in that shit hole anymore, that is great feeling. That was how Carlos felt yesterday.
As I said elsewhere Mike's talent evaluation is laughable. Same can be said for his ability to motivate, clock management, organization, game preparedness and scheme. Los deserves to be where he's at and I really hope JC recovers from injury and gets another shot to start (somewhere). Eff you gotta feel bad for Fletcher. I wish he could end his career w/ a great franchise, maybe even a contender. Nobody deserves another ring as much as he does. |

It's the latter. If Crompton really had anything, he'd be on the active roster. I trust that the coaches evaluate the players in practice, and if Crompton was doing any better than Beck or Grossman he'dve been called up by now. |

about 10 times Beck had wide open rwcievers for long tds prolly / big plays / first Downs and didn't even. look near them... run the ball up the effing middle more and off tackle downhill ... not ****in 10 yds sideways everytime u hand it off.... PUT A QB IN WHO ATTEMPTS A PASS OVER 15 YDS.. cuz Beck didn't throw a single one.

I thought they stuck with the run as much as they could yesterday...you have to try to move the chains and we don't have an offense that can just run play after play and gain first downs. |
Not a fan of Beck but to me there's no point in going back to Grossman either. Neither guy is the answer here, maybe Grossman gives you a better chance at winning another game or two, but what does that accomplish? I say give Beck the rest of the season to see if he can improve at all.
It's remarkable that two straight years, our quarterback situation has put us in a spot where this is a reasonable conclusion. There is nothing that John Beck can do in the next eight games that makes him a viable option going forward. I'm sure he will improve, but at the end of the year it still has to be someone else.
I'm one of the biggest proponents of the idea that taking the focus off the quarterback position is one of the easiest way to rebuild a team in the QB-crazy modern NFL. But any personnel guy who failed this hard two consecutive years at rebuilding the offense would get fired. Even Vinny Cerrato. I'm at the point where if Bruce Allen isn't going to be the guy calling the shots on personnel, then Bruce Allen needs to hire a guy who will. You, me, anyone but the status quo. We don't even need to tear down the structure of the front office. We just need to fix the problem. |

we suck suck. i was metally prepared for another real bad season thinking wed get 5-6 wins but dang, last 3 games have been brutally boring and inept from a skins side of things.
as skins fans weve been through some brutal seasons and stretches but dang, there has been zero entertainment factor outside gano's 59 yarder. |

Crompton looked ok in the preseason. Not terrible, not great. Had some fine throws mixed with some ghastly ones. And none of us here have seen him throw a pass as a Redskin. So, yeah, some grasping is going on. That said, we know that Beck and Wrecks are not the future. Therefore we should test drive Rockytop once we are eliminated and no harm to our season can be done. Maybe he is not our future. But he's the only QB we have who MIGHT be. |

I'm not reading 5 pages of this thread to see if it's been mentioned, but man I am so tired of Laron Freaking Landry. Getting into shouting matches before the game, wagging his finger and jawing after making a tackle on a 12 yard play that went for a first down....
Just shut your freaking trap man. You're not even that good right now. Also, how funny is it that our longest offensive play was a mistake? Helu grabs that tipped ball out of the air and takes off for like 14 or 16 yards or whatever it was. Just pathetic. And John Beck... ohhhh John Beck. You absolutely stink out loud like I've never seen. Jumpy in the pocket, terrible awareness, throws to guys that are covered when other guys are wide freaking open, if Justin Smith had hands Beck would have thrown a touchdown in the endzone, horribly inaccurate.... I could go on. He's god awful. I firmly believe that if Beck stays the starter, we won't win another game. Not a single one. |
