I don't often see eye to eye with NC but I gotta agree here. |

Houston should take that division again.

Houston has no depth. And it's a long season.
But Indy has depth?
Didn't suggest they did (I hope).
I like them in a 16 game season. Once you account for the fact that none of the other three teams would compete for a wild card if the division title didn't exist, it pretty much comes down to record within the division. And Indy gets the divisions' best (or second best) quarterback, and just as many home games as everyone else. I mean, heck, Indy went 2-4 in the division last year, isn't Luck worth some sort of bump? |

Lost their best (arguable) WR, top 2 TEs, top RB, and have no defense outside of an aging Freeney and Mathis. I don't see what you do. I don't think they go 2-14 again but they will have a top 5 pick in the 2013 draft. |

Peter King's take on the whole RG3 bashing...
Peter King @SI_PeterKing Re RG3 bashing: When I asked him for his favorite play of '11, he talked for 5 minutes about his downfield block on RB TD in Alamo Bowl. Peter King @SI_PeterKing I'm sure some scout thinks Griffin is selfish. But in my reporting on him+Luck, I never heard that trait mentioned once about either guy. |

They have the best QB, best wr, best RB, best o-line and the best defense w/out Mario Williams. Name one position where Indy is better than Houston? Maybe d-end and that's it. |

I hope RGIII is selfish. so selfish that he insists on having the most TDs in the game compared to our opponents.

Is that why they made it to the playoffs on the back of a 3rd string rookie QB(yates), while his top WR (johnson) sat out 9 games last season and their top runner being out 3 games?? I think the facts prove you wrong. |
Re: Robert Griffin III: The Man Behind The Name
No way the Colts finish ahead of Houston OR Tennessee. Jacksonville is a joke, they'll be in the basement. They should have gotten Tebow so they're at least fun to watch while losing. I'm so glad we passed on Gabbert.
I think Griffin and Trent Richardson will be neck and neck all season as the best rookies.
But I think Andrew Luck will actually get the (somewhat undeserved) rookie of the year award when he leads the Colts to the playoffs in the NFL's weakest division.
Help me with this statement, GTripp. Because I can't follow your logic whatsoever. The road to the WildCard seems littered with insurmountable obstacles for the Colts. Either the Steelers or the Ravens will end up with one of them, they are both excellent teams returning basically intact. In the East the Pats should take the division, and in the West the Broncos should take the division. That leaves the Chargers and Jets involved in the Wildcard chase. And the Bengals were 9-7 as well, last year, and you have to figure Dalton, AJ Green and Jermaine Gresham will continue to grow. Then if you talk about inter-division play, the Colts sit well behind the Texans. And the Titans aren't half bad with Hasselbeck making that offense not-so-one dimensional. You really think Luck is enough to bump the record from 2-14 to 9-7 or 10-6, all while losing Garcon, Saturday, and a number of other key parts? I'd love to hear why. |
Re: Robert Griffin III: The Man Behind The Name
Yeah the Colts have to start back at square one. Houston has the best team in that division, and with Schaub coming back, they should easily finish at the top of that division.

The way he deals with the media reminds me a lot of Drew Brees and Kurt Warner. It's kind of a weird dynamic because it annoys me that he talks about himself and how he is but then again the media keeps asking him these questions and bringing these quotes or stories to his attention in hopes of getting a response. |

Re: Robert Griffin III: The Man Behind The Name
Bill Polian was on The Herd this morning -- said RGIII is the second best player in the draft behind Luck. He said Griffin brings a dimension to the game that hasn't been seen since Steve McNair, and said that he's actually ahead of McNair due to the difference in their respective divisions. (McNair played at Alcorn St.)
I'd be happy with that kind of praise from one of the best minds in football. |

Re: Robert Griffin III: The Man Behind The Name
Does anybody (here) really see Griffin as a young Steve McNair?
As to the misinformation surrounding Griffin's personality or maybe character, it could be that he's kind of aloof, which can be mistaken for arrogance but I think it's probably more that he's just dealing w/ the "big stage" in his own way. |

Both of those guys talked seemed to talk about themselves a good bit and I see a little of that in RG3. Trust me pretty soon theres going to be a little doubt about Griffins ability in which case he will tell us a million times how confident he is in himself just like Brees and Warner did when there were doubts about them. |

I see a bit of the Brees/Warner likeness as well. Anytime someone works to be great at something like an organized sport there's a certain amount of self-involvement that becomes inevitable, which is different than selfishness I think. But I was talking about style of play regarding McNair, which I think will be limited in similarity. McNair was a hulk of a QB who extended plays w/ sheer strength and power. Griffin doesn't have that kind of bulk/strength and will have to extend plays w/ his quickness, speed and hopefully good vision. Also, I think Griffin is more accurate already, but we're waiting to see if he can adjust to the speed of pro ball. |

Looking at the reader comments is telling. Why all the sudden vitriol against RGIII ? One guys says "RGIII = Akili Smith. BUST!" Couldn't the same be said of Andrew Luck and Tim Couch? It could also be more proof of my hunch that the Redskins are just one of those teams that people love to hate, and as soon as a potential draft pick becomes associated with Washington, public sentiment tends to turn against them. |

Its really quite funny. Most are just pissed at their situation, but they are fair weathered and im sure if there team had moved up to get RG3 they would be singing his praises. I hope they know that all this does is fuel RGIII to prove the haters wrong. I have said that Griffin is "the real deal" since October and all we have to do as a fan base is support him thru the learning process and everything will be fine!
What the article said about his father clearing his head about winning the Heisman is all I need to know about his focus. We are going to have a good one and Snyder haters hate it! |

I think a lot of people continue to underestimate Houston's defense under the direction of Wade Philips i.e. it's the Texans' defense that makes them a legit contender. I wish we would have replaced Haslett w/ Philips as soon as he hit the market...sometimes it seems this franchise doesn't do everything it could to win. |
