Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
Highlights show a bit o nasty from Josh too, which is awesome IMO. We haven't had an olineman w/ a nasty side since Randy Thomas...much overdue.

Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
A nasty Center and a QB with some swagger.
|
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
I've fairly given up on Trent Williams being a leader on offense, let along the oline, for the time-being. I wonder if LeRibeus can grow into that role within a season?!
|
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
i dont think leribeus is going to play center for us, unless we shuffle the line due to injuries. i think its more likely theyre just giving him some looks at center to see how he does and give him some experience there. i see him competing for a starting guard position.

Given that o-linemen tend to play well into their mid to late 30s, I would say that it is difficult for a 3rd year tackle to be consider the leader of the o-line, let alone the offense. When I think of o-linemen who were leaders of their units (and the team) I think of guys who have been around for a while like Jeff Saturday or former players like Jonathan Ogden. |

Third-round pick Josh LeRibeus spent almost all of his time working at center, after having played guard at SMU. His college coach, June Jones, said that’s the position he ultimately thinks LeRibeus will play because of his smarts. “He picked it up in one day like he’s been doing it his whole career,” Shanahan said. Maybe we'll have several leaders on offense...so Trent can be a joint leader. :Smoker: |

I liked Montgomery cause he was better then Rabach but this kid sounds better at Center then Montgomery. I'm more concerned about the RT position right now, if Brown is the man he better be ready to play instead of him playing 1 or 2 games then getting reinjured. |

Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
We still need to see this guy play in pads against other teams and our own team before we can say that he was a solid pick by our FO.
I'm still cracking up about some of the responses our fans had when we drafted him.."Guys, what the hell did we draft?" hahaha. Whether he's a bust or not, atleast we all got a good laugh out him and his story. |

I'm talking next year and beyond. This year I think Josh L. is a backup at center/guard. |
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
I think Kirk Cousins is so good and talented, he'll be pushing RGIII and LeRibeus for a spot at their starting positions. Yes, Kirk can hike it to himself and still throw. Kid is that goood!
That link on Trent. Not buying it. Making a mistake is a one time thing. Failing 4 drug tests is a habit and stupidity. Won't believe him till he's gone the rest of his career without a suspension. |

agree, I wouldnt expect much from McRib this year, but I expect him to have that versatility to play either G/C in Shanny's system. We still have major injury concerns with Kory L and Jamal Brown. Regardless of what Shanny has said about Brown, Im not gonna believe it until I see his play on the field. Compton could have the most impact of our olinemen draftees. |

Huh? O line and Guard/Center in particular should be the most interesting battle this preseason. My depth chart would look like this right now: Tackles: Trent Williams, Jammal Brown Guards: Chris Chester Maurice Hurt Center: Will Montgomery Back Ups: Willie Smith – Primary tackle back up Tyler Polumbus – Tackle/Guard back up Josh LeRibeus – Center/Guard back up Adam Gettis - Center/Guard back up Kory L. – starts season on PUP or IR (did they ever make that IR rule change?) I with you in that Jammal Brown and Kory L are major concerns and i think theres a real good chance Kory L starts the season on PUP or IR, partly becuase it allows us to cary an extra man at a questionalbe position. If Hurt looks like crap im thinking Polumbus releaves him until Kory L is back in action. It looks and feels like we have young depth on our interior, but what sucks is that we feel a little too young at those spots. |
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
Yeah, Im saying Compton could beat out Christopher Polumbus and Big Willie Style at the Tackle depth positions and if Jamal Brown is injuried, could see playing time.
It f*cking crazy, right? |
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
Why you got to hate on Willie Smith? Dude's a stud
|
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
Why you got to hate on Willie Smith? Dude's a stud
Far from hatting, but as crazy as it sounds, udfas can be replaced. Actually think W.Smith is Silverbacks primary at left tackle and Compton will be Brown's primary back up at right tackle, giving him the chance to start first if Brown is not available. |
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
Last year Willie Smith had some highlights but also some low lights. Hopefully he is developing into a stud. It would be huge for our line if he did.
|
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
According to Shanahan, Jammal Brown is pretty much healthy, so it doesn't seem to be a concern for the team.
|
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
If Brown is back to his old self, we shouldn't have much to worry about at RT. Let's hope that's the case.
|
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
Like I said above, dont care what Shanny says about Brown's health, Jamal gonna have to prove it on the field. Im 99% sure if we woulda kept the 2nd round pick or we had out additional 18 mil in cap room, Brown would be gone by now. Woulda, coulda....shoulda? Anyways Im hoping Brown can be at least decent this year.
|
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
Brown would have been a $6M cap hit to release, that's steep even if we had the $18M back.
|
Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
McRib is going to be this years Jarvis Jenkins. Dominate practice all summer, tear something, then out for year.
Book it. |

Re: Josh LeRibeus pick 3.8
I just have little faith in SMU guys who miss a year, get fat, and then are universally declared a reach on draft day. Don't get me wrong, the Redskins could really use a OL to come out of the woodwork and overachieve.

Saw him on tv wearing an SMU Spirit Camp shirt...... and I'm weirded out thinking he served as a cheerleader or worse still cheer leader. Didn't help he talked with a soft lisp.
