Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Whhhaaa??? Come on, Brandon Banks is a future Hall of Famer!
LOL!!! Even I couldn't say that with a straight face! Sorry BB, but ya better start showing your stuff at WR! |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
IMO
Garcon Moss Hankerson Morgan Austin Robinson If Robinson can go on PS then AA makes it. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
I like Banks. Hopefully he can rise to the occasion.
I was also going to throw those names out there. D hall is mOre than capable of returning punts but I doubt he does kickoffs. I remember reading an article about minniefield returnin kicks for a few years at UVA. The more I read about him the more I like what he brings to the table. I hope he turns into a solid corner, we need all the help back there we can get.
Chase did kicks and punts for a few years. He's a baller, and I see him as the number 3 CB by the end of this season. Completely unbiased of course. |
Moss. But I don't think they wanna take the chance on him getting blown up on KRs.
Yeah, still love that touchdown against the Lions in 2008.
[YT]pW4JRXC3V2Y[/YT] I agree Moss is not the guy now. If not Banks, how about Paul? He's shown some amazing speed on special teams. |

Hank Garcon Morgan Austin ??? (Niles Paul?)
Don't forget Armstrong and Robinson. |

Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Terrence Austin can certainly be a difference maker for the Redskins offense. The fact that he's a seventh round pick doesn't mean anything. If Victor Cruz can go undrafted and have a monster year for the Giants, then Terrence Austin can do the same thing for the Redskins. Perhaps coaching was the reason why Austin hasn't done much since the Redskins drafted him.

Cruz and Terrence Austin shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence. For just a game in the preseason VC had 6 catches for 145 yds and 3 TDs. Terrence Austin hasn't had anything close to that in regular or preseason. TA final numbers in his whole career is 15 catchs for 184 yds and 0 TDs. TA needs some TD's before he's even thought of in the same sentence as Cruz. |

Um can someone explain why a player on our team fighting for a roster spot is wearing a steelers hat?? Wow smh some guys just never learn |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
it just goes with his shirt no big deal.

Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Some fans take their expectations of player loyalty way too seriously. I'm sure that Banks, as well as probably 70% of the league have hats from multiple teams in their closet. Just because someone plays for the Redskins (or any other team) their entire wardrobe doesn't have to be maroon and black. (winks at Jim Zorn)
His standing on the roster, however tenuous as it may be, won't be impacted by his choice of apparel. On a more relevant note, his roster chance is probably around 10%. He's going to have to outplay Austin, Robinson and Lance Lewis at WR and I doubt he's got the talent to do so. He has one asset, speed and when he's even slightly dinged, as he was last year, even that isn't special at the NFL level. If Robinson shows any ability at KR/PR, Banks is done. |

Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
It doesn't matter to me if he wears a Steelers hat. Doesn't matter at all
|
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Back in the day you would never catch a player wearing another teams stuff. The way players go from team to team its hard to tell which players really care about their team and wearing other teams stuff makes it even harder to tell.

I think a Brandon Banks who cares but if your a face of a franchise guy you are going to ruffle some feathers if you are wearing another teams colors. If folks saw Ray Lewis with a Steelers hat on, there be some up roar. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
It's funny how that works, with hats and all. We blast players, such as Clinton Portis for wearing a Phillies hat, and now Banks for wearing a Steelers hat.
Yet we'll jump up and down for joy when we see a player like Kevin Durant wearing a Redskins hat, meanwhile their fans who are predominately Cowboys fans are raising hell. It used to bother me because hell, why wear their stuff? But now, being it's all fashion and what not, doesn't bother me. Now if we were playing the Steelers this week and he had that on, then yeah, it'd probably piss me off, but the offseason, no big deal. |
Would it if it was RGIII?
No. What clothes and/or accessories he wears in his spare time is his own thing. Often times it's about how you look, not what team you're repping. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Luckily we wouldn't have to worry about RG3 doing anything like that.

A Pirates cap would look better. Boston Bruins too. I know it's not a big deal really, but I still hate to see it. C'mon man, you really shouldn't be wearing any other NFL team's gear...just because of perception. |
Um can someone explain why a player on our team fighting for a roster spot is wearing a steelers hat?? Wow smh some guys just never learn
Maybe the NFL should dictate his attire off the field as well. Hell, just go ahead and tell him how he needs to vote, what religion he needs to abide by, and what sexuality he needs to choose. Some of you fans are just LOL. Now, come game day he's wearing a Pittsburgh attire, then get back with me and I'll side with you.
That's BS. If he is on our team he should not wear other teams stuff. Plan common sense. He is nothing but a feel good story and will be gone soon. Maybe the Steelers will give him a job.
/facepalm It's interesting how corporate america has brainwashed people into "being loyal" to your company! Make no mistake about it, the Redskins are a business first and foremost. Also, the hypocrisy in it all is even more of a laugh. Here is the mindset from many fans: 1) all players should be loyal to their team and should take pay cuts to stay with said team 2) all fans should be loyal to their team and continue to cheer for them regardless of how incompetent the owner/front office is On the opposite spectrum: 1) Teams can cut players and trade them and this is fine. Loyalty to that players isn't required. 2) Teams can gouge fans to see the product or even simply lock out the season. Newsflash: They have no loyalty to the players or the fans so none is needed back. |

But Portis wearing a baseball hat or Durant wearing a football hat are not the best examples because the hats were from sports different than what the player played. Put differently, Banks wearing a Pirates hat is less controversial than Banks wearing a Steelers cap. Of course the real question is, when Banks soon becomes a Walmart cashier, will he wear a Target hat? |

Exactly but just to piss first down and the group even more, I'm sure he paid for the hat with the money from his Redskins paycheck. |
