Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
I love how D. Hall is the scape goat for people today. He was in tight coverage a lot with the best WR in the league. He shouldn't of been on lone islands with him, but it is what it is..
Defense has given up to many points. Jackson played well and I was impressed besides the few reverses he bit on. RG3 Was good again for his 3rd game in.. If our defense could only stop teams half the time..
it isn't D Hall it is the secondary as a whole. We need guys that can play with the best on just about every Sunday. Our depth is rather lacking as well. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
Who cares what the rank was. How many games did we win last year? This team wasn't a good one last year and the defense was part of that.
Rank is important because the defense WASN'T bad last year. Don't be obtuse. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
Secondary is terrible. Defensive coaching is bad. Offense is good with the exception of our offensive line, which is absolutely atrocious. Their defensive ends were consistently able to generate pressure against our tackles. Fortunately we were able to mitigate that threat a bit by getting RG3 out of the pocket, but if grossman had been back there we would have been lucky to score 20 points.
I told my buddy before the game that we'd have to double AJ green the whole game to have any chance. What does Haslett do? Play single man coverage with Hall against Green and stand off him 10 yards. Sure I understand you don't want to get beat deep, but THAT'S WHY YOU DOUBLE HIM! And people are surprised when he gets ~200 yards... WHO ELSE ON THE BENGALS IS A THREAT!? |
This.
I didn't have a problem with it.
We had more momentum as a team and crowd at that point than we did all day long. There was no way we were not making two feet there. And again the punt netted us thirteen yards of field position. Its not like we were at our own forty. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
My impressions of the game:
1. The read option has got to go bye-bye. I don't even care that running it helped us get back in the game today because it is going to get RGIII hurt. 2. This Redskins secondary may be the worst one I've seen since before the George Allen era. 3. We have big problems protecting the passer. 4. The players are playing very hard. I give them credit for their great effort. 5. We just don't have enough good players. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
The only logical choice to me seems to play RGIII at CB and let him cover the other team's best receiver. He seems to be the only playmaker we have.

If you get stuffed its a huge swing. No need to chance it in that spot. |

Eventually they'll figure it out and as we saw, nail RG3. |

BUt it works in Madden. |
If we went for it and didn't get it you would still be complaining. He was playing the field position there.
When you're a 5 and 11 team wth a secondary as bad as ours you go for that. 99% of head coaches are gutless play it by the book wimps. We have rgiii let him make a play. The d still would have had a chance to hold them. Ps RG3 is awesome. So glad we made that trade. |
Real question is, what does it take for the secondary to get better during the season? Or are they going to even get better? Cuz I see this secondary getting worked for the next 13 games.
They are going to get worked and the secondary will be priority #1 in the offseason. Everyone in the secondary that is up for contract renewal should be let loose or brought back at a lower pay rate. At least 3 of our draftees should be def backfield guys from the SEC. I am assuming 6-10 to 8-8 will garner a top 9-14 pick, so we should get a gamer for sure. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
Its just revolting for the defense to give up 3 huge pass plays for TDs. Its just unacceptable period. Flat out disgusting.
|
If you get stuffed its a huge swing. No need to chance it in that spot.
If we had any sort of a defense i would agree. More importantly though even with a nice punt your talking 25 maybe 30 yards difference. As it turned out it was 13 yards. Bottom line is that our punt team and defense have been horrid. Our offense has been somewhat spectacular. So im goin with the hot hand - our offense. |

Fletcher has always been not so great in pass coverage. (Not making excuses). He's just a run stopper. Jimmy Graham abused Fletch in game 1 as well. Unfortunately if its a physical TE vs. Fletch, he's going to get beat sometimes. |
I blame this 100 percent on shanny punting the ball away on 4th and inches. The stadium was rocking and we had all the momentum. This guy has officially lost his mind.
I agree with this statement,I dont agree with that call losing us the game, but I do think he should have went for it.Between that call and the descision last week to kick a 63 yard fg{which somehow he's remained unscathed with that shitty call, except from football outsiders.com} Ive never thought he makes the right calls at critical times.Oh yeah,he pulled that timeout bullshit last week again on a fg attempt which backfired again Only good descision he's ever made is drafting RG3.I wish him and Haslett would hit the road |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
As far as our defense goes, I'm not sure what we'd rather have. Haslett's defense has been down, up, and now down so far in the 3 seasons he's been our d-coordinator. Gregg Williams/Blache's defense were consistently good for the most part, but we never forced turnovers. Now that we've had both, what do people prefer?
Is it better to have a shitty defense capable of forcing turnovers, or a solid/good defense that doesn't force any turnovers? I'm leaning toward the latter right now. Look at what the Rams did today against a good Bears defense, versus what they did against us last week. If we a solid defense that didn't force a lot of turnovers, I think games would be closer than they have this season. Obviously against the Saints that worked in our favor, but these last two games our defense has been manhandled all game. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
Also I still can't believe the refs didn't call PI against the bengals on that bomb to Hankerson. Or that they called a phantom facemask against D Hall. Probably wouldn't have changed the outcome, but the officiating was disappointing again.
And also easy to say in hindsight, but I would have gone for it on 4th and inches. Our interior o-line was getting good pushes, and Morris has shown an ability to convert in those situations. Don't like the punishment RG3 was taking. Less college ball please. There are other ways of getting the opposing pass rushers to back off (screens? HB draws?) |

I dont play madden. I do play the odds. Odds are BETTER that our offense was going to get two feet than that our defense was going to stop them. I dont think that is so crazy. At all. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
I'd like to see the option stuff start to get phased out. Griffin is taking too many shots.

lol. Nice one. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
Was pleased with run defense today.
NOT pleased with yet another key injury. TW doesn't play defense, but that most certainly contributed to us not scoring more. Black got OWNED. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
I think the fans and the media got a litte ahead of themselves after the Saints win. This team still has a ways to go.

NO. :spank: Under no circumstances will having an elite defense that also forces turnovers be allowed. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
I can't even blame the whole defense. The LBs have been playing basically lights out.
I honestly can't figure out what's wrong with the defense this year. They're basically the same defense from last year save a few moves here and there. But somehow we've gone from 13th ranked last year to currently 28th.
I think the thought process was if we can get a really good DL to push the pocket or rush the QB then the back end really won't matter. however they did address the Safety spot but ended up with two players who are injured. Go figure. |
No NFL Receiver should ever gain 183 yards in a single game. I don't care if it's Jerry Rice in his prime or if it's single coverage on an island. 183 yards is unacceptable. This isn't college ball.
We know you dont like D hall. Its all on him.. Hes the reason we lost and gave Bengals 38 points. He was in man coverage when Green had the 70 yard catch.. Now that sarcasm is over..... Its not D Hall.. He just a DB in a weak secondary. Wilson was a hero coming in to this game, but got beatdown today. He gave up way more plays the Hall did People need to open their eyes, but i guess its whatever helps you accept the loss. |

Wouldn't mind seeing Morris step into Haslett's role.
Watch what you wish for. Haslett needs to go but I don't foresee Morris being the answer either. Unless you like the Tampa 2 defense. Which I'm not a fan of. I'd rather suck this year, and hope a decent 3-4 Co-ordinator comes available. I'd crap myself if Rex Ryan got canned and we picked him up. He's another Norv Turner. Great DC not so great HC. |
Re: Redskins vs. Bengals Post Game Reaction
What exactly did they carry us to? They were ranked 30th just 2 years ago.
Ok, ok, go back a little further. They have carried this team since 2000. The last 2 years we haven't gotten much return from our draft picks. |
Wait what? Top row as in 400 level? 400 level that the escalators go up to?
Living in jersey i have been to about a dozen games at fedex. I have always been ushered to the ramp by the worker bee's when i show em my ticket. So if there is an escalator that goes to 400 i dont know where the hell it is. When i leave i am ushered along with thousands others down the ramp again. ? |
