Re: Samari Rolle??

You know, hearing the terms "locker-room leader," "team leader," and "a guy who the players look up to" are starting to become cliches, and it's getting a little old.

How do any of us know what a player's "locker-room presence" is? The only team leader any organization should have is the head coach. The guy everyone should 'look up to' is Joe Gibbs.

Let's face it. If the role of "locker-room leader" is so vital to a team's success, then judging by the W/L records our organization has generated over the last four years doesn't say much for our "team leaders".

Great points Beems, I agree

Re: Samari Rolle??

Granted, not everyone can live on the fact they "try hard" and are "a team player," BUT if a person is to be based on one extreme or another (pure talent) then the faults are almost as equal. Coles has great talent and right now he is not being a "team player." I don't see how anyone can say that is not important.

The Patriots are a perfect example.

The Eagles are basically the Anti-Patriots. They show that having a lot of talent won't necessarily transfer into a Super Bowl victory.

Well then who do you all think are our Locker Room leaders.

Here is my list

Arrington, Samuels, Jansen, Thrash, Pierce, Bowen, Daniels, and Wynn.

You wouldn't put Smoot on that list?

Re: Samari Rolle??
I would agree it's a wash "statistically" but I don't see Rolle being the team leader that Smoot has been over the years AND isn't he older than Smoot or no?
I think Rolle is only a year or so older than Smoot. I agree with what was said about this being a combination of Smoot asking for way more than his actual worth(a $14 million signing bonus!!!) and Greg Williams having worked with Rolle for 3 years and thinking he's a better fit in his system than Smoot.
Sure I'd rather just keep Smoot, but he and his are way overestimating his worth even though someone will probably sadly still pay him what he's looking for, but I'd rather it be another team badly overpaying for once rather than us. I like many others love Smoot's personality, especially the comments he's made about rival teams, but as much as I like Smoot I can't put him in the top 5 category like he's trying to do. he just doesn't deserve that kind of money.

Re: Samari Rolle??

If he got the Rolle type of money how would that compare to other corners in the league? Would that make it top 5? I do see your point, I'm just curious as to what that type of money would compare to.

Re: Samari Rolle??
You wouldn't put Smoot on that list?
He has a mouth which tends to make the public think he is a leader. But no I do not think he is a leader in the locker room. Do you think Daniels is? Seems to me all of the coaches constantly stated that Daniels was so important in the locker room but we never seem to see him in a interview. So being vocal with the press does not mean anything. The only ones that really can answer this question are the players themselves.

Re: Samari Rolle??

springs got 10$ bonus and a 30mill contract... we got a steal on him (due to injuries)... smoot played great, but not as well as springs... i wish i knew what he was asking for, but i really don't. That means the best i can do i trust smoot/FO/williams etc to handle it and look back with my 20/20 hindsight once the dust settles.
